Dorothy Dykstra Simons, 90, of Midwest City, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Wolfe Living Center. She was born to Ralph and Bertha (Taul) Dykstra on Aug. 30, 1919 in Spencer, OK. She came to Midwest City in 1929. Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nicoma Park where she was very active in the church activities. She was a Junior II Sunday School Director and enjoyed her Agape Sunday School Class. One of her greatest compassions was the involvement with the Women On Missions through the Southern Baptists. The last eight years she was very active in the Harrah Senior Center Knitting and Quilting activities. Dorothy always gave encouragement through her smile and role she took on as an excellent caregiver. She also encountered many friends through her occupation as a Beauty Operator.

Dorothy is survived by son Bob Simons & wife JoAnn; daughter Nancy Griffin & husband Tom; 5 grandchildren Leann Frith & husband Russell, Carolyn Filippo & husband Jeff, Mike Griffin & wife Heather, Jeff Griffin & wife Kim, and Bobby Simons & wife Gretchen; 10 great grandchildren Derrik, Lori, Brian, Matthew, Marshall, Jackie, Jacob, Madison, Jack, and Ethan; 3 great greatgrandchildren Damian, Jesse, and Caden; 2 sisters Jenell Hubbard, and Luella Ballard & husband Vern; brother Tom Dykstra & wife Pauline; and a special nephew who was raised like her child, Gene Hubbard.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin "Mel" Simons, and 3 brothers Dewey, Charles, Dick Dykstra. Memorial donations can be made to the Southern Baptist Missions Fund, c/o First Baptist Church of Nicoma Park.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, 3/12/2010 at the First Baptist Church of Nicoma Park with burial at Arlington Memory Gardens Cemetery in MWC.
