Funeral services for James Edward Williams, age 75, of Blanchard will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004 in The Chapel of the Resthaven Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Mash officiating. He was born August 17, 1928 in Indianola, Oklahoma the son of Thomas Andrew and Claudie Melissa (Everett) Williams. He passed away Friday, April 23, 2004 with his family by his side.

James was united in marriage to Miss Bonnie Coleta Hearod on June 29, 1950. In 1952, he enlisted into the United States Army, serving until his honorable discharge in 1954. James spent a career as a truck driver, a career he enjoyed and took great pride in. He was an honorable man, often leading by example in way of honesty, integrity, and commitment. One of the greatest legacies a man could leave, James left in his children; showing them that love and determination would overcome any adversities. James was also a man of great strength, displaying a tough resistance when faced with physical, mental and emotional challenges. He was steadfast in his love to his wife, Bonnie, remaining close to her side during illness and her death on August 23, 1993. When it came to being a father and grandfather, James was simply the best. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was sure to brighten his day and put a
huge smile on his face and brightness in his eyes. James enjoyed singing old-fashioned choir tunes, something he started when he was just a kid in Indianola. He loved to share meals with family and friends and was quick to go back for seconds when fried chicken and potatoes were on the supper table. We will miss his humor, his commanding spirit for loyalty and his passion for life, but we are so grateful that this man we called 'Dad' and 'Grandpa' belonged to us. For it is because of his presence in our lives that we are who we are and the qualities we have come from his teachings. We will miss you but we know you are at peace and much needed rest. Just as it is written in 2 Timothy 4:7 'I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith'. You are gone from this earth never from our hearts!

James was preceded in death by his wife; his parents, five brothers and one sister. Burial will conclude in Resthaven Memory Gardens under the direction of the Resthaven Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.
