A. J.
Smith Jr., the 24-year editor of the Oklahoma Cowman magazine,
knew of and was known by thousands of cattle producers in
Oklahoma as well as other states.
Saturday, Smith suffered an aneurysm during the Oklahoma
Cattlemen’s Association state convention in Midwest City and
died. He was 68.
Inducted into the Oklahoma Angus Hall of Fame and served as
president of the Southwest American Livestock Foundation.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; his son, Aaron Smith, and
daughter-in-law Staci Smith; daughter Christel and son-in-law
David Birk; and daughter Jessi and son-in-law Mike Barnett, all
of Tuttle.
A memorial service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Thursday in the
Express Ranch Show and Sale Barn in Yukon.
