Daily Oklahoman
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
May 30, 2001, pg 8D

McCorkle, Grady went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2001 after a short illness and hospitalization. He was born on July 5, 1908 in western Oklahoma to William P. and Maggie McCorkle. He grew up on a farm and on April 14, 1928 was married to Cecil Irene Skelton. To this union were born 6 children. In 1945, he moved his family to Midwest City, OK and was self-employed until he retired in 1975. He lived in Midwest City until his death. He was a charter member of the Midwest City Kiwanis Club and served on the city council of Midwest City. Grady was a long-time member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church having served as a deacon, treasurer, and various other positions in service to the Lord. Grady loved the Lord and he loved, and was loved by family and a large circle of friends. After his retirement he spent much of his time visiting family and friends, especially people he knew that were in hospitals and nursing homes. He also enjoyed woodworking as a hobby and many of us are blessed to have his crafts in our homes.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Cecil. He is survived by his present wife Fern McCorkle, of the home. He is also survived by 6 children, Bobby G. McCorkle, of Gainesville, TX, Regena Johnson and husband Joe, of Midwest City, William McCorkle and wife Betty, of Tahlequah, OK, Lucy Markham and husband Roger, of Lenexa, KS, Sena Peterson and husband Alvin, of Oklahoma City, Grady McCorkle and wife Danette, of Oklahoma City, and a stepson, Steve Fields and wife Espie of Oklahoma City. He also was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Grady was a very gentle and caring man who always placed God first in his life. His precious memory is our keepsake with which we will never part. God has him in his keeping. We have him in our hearts.

Services are Wednesday, May 30th 10:00 a.m., at Eisenhour SE Funeral Home on 29th Street in Del City. Officiating will be Elders Bill McCarthy and Randy McCarthy. Grady's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church c/o Bill McCarthy, 12300 Long Lake Blvd., OKC, Oklahoma 73170.
