G. A. Henshaw Former State Official, Dies

George A. Henshaw, Jr., age 21, registered for the World War I draft in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.    He declared he was born Oct. 25th 1896 in Carterville, Illinois, his father born in Stonefort, Illinois, and he was then residing at 311 W. 11th St. in Oklahoma City where he was employed by the ... Petroleum Co. of Oklahoma City.

A colorful career in Oklahoma affairs ended late Thursday with the death of George A. Henshaw, 76, 1319 Classen, former district judge.

Services will be conducted in the First Presbyterian church, 1001 N. Robinson, at 2 pm Saturday with Rev. Harold Blake Walker, officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn.

Born in Carterville, Ill., Henshaw received a law degree at Valparaiso university. Before moving to Madill in 1900 he taught school in Illinois. He practiced law in Madill and moved into a role in state politics with election to the constitutional convention in 1906 as a delegate from Marshall county.

Two years later he became assistant attorney general under Charles West, and in 1911 was elected to the state corporation commission. He left politics in 1915 and practiced law and dealt in oil.

Henshaw was appointed federal received in 1924 for the Oklahoma Railway Co.

Henshaw made his home in Oklahoma City when he followed the capitol here from Guthrie, and in 1932 he was appointed district judge.

He is survived by two sons, Paul and Walter, both of San Antonio and two brothers, F. M. Henshaw, who lives at the home address, and J. I. Henshaw, Madill.
