Joel H. Bomgren , Sr., 56, of Choctaw, passed away June 9, 2001, from injuries received in an auto accident. He was born in Staten Island, NY, on October 6, 1944, to Eric & Margit Bomgren .

Joe is survived by his widow, Linda of the home; their 6 children: Donna Ashley & friend, Ann Vaughan of Sachse, TX, Shayne & Dan Fuxa of Marshall, OK, Joel & Kristi Bomgren of Clinton, OK, Myrna & Les Biggs of Mulvane, KS, John & Pam Loy of Ponca City, OK, and Deborah & Phil Webb of Pelzer, SC; sister, Helen Montgomery of Rochester, NY; 2 brothers, Eric Bormgren of Mesquite, TX & Richard Bomgren of Colerain, OH; 15 very special grandchildren; special family friends, Marty & Edwina Ramseyer of Mustang, OK; & a host of other relatives & friends. Joel was raised a Lutheran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Selma Fox, & 1st wife, Judy (Williams) Bomgren . Joe was a 20-year veteran of the Air Force with service on the Presidential Crew under Presidents Johnson, Nixon & Ford & 2 tours of Vietnam. He was Quality Assurance Representative at Tinker Air Force Base, with 16 years of civil service. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with Del City Lodge. He was a longtime member of the Old Santa Fe Riders Motorcycle Club of Shawnee & will be remembered for his Toys for Tots rides dressed as Donald Duck & a gorilla. Joe B loved hunting and fishing, classic Chevys & most of all, his family & friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Hospitals or Toys for Tots.

Services will be Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel with graveside services at Arlington Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:30.
