Lillie Ann, daughter of Effie Mae (Webb) and Martin Granville Phillips was born June 17, 1900 in Carroll County near Rudd, Arkansas. She passed away at the Alva Share Medical Center after a long illness on the 12th of April at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 25 days.
In the spring of 1910 the family came to Woodward County South of Freedom, Oklahoma. She attended the Golden Belt Rural Grade School and received her Teachers Certificate from Northwestern Normal College in Alva and taught school at the Hawk Eye Rural Grade School in Woodward County.
Miss Phillips was married to Joseph Edwin Ferguson on September 16, 1923 at her parents home South of Freedom. To their marriage five children were born. Mr. Ferguson passed away on January 14, 1979
Following their marriage they lived Southwest of Freedom for 5 years and moved to the ranch 8 miles North of Freedom to make their home. In 1979 after Teds death, Lillie moved to Freedom to live.
She was a charter member of the Freedom Christian Church and she enjoyed and spent a lot of time with the Jolly Quilters.
Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her two daughters, Elwanda Irene and Donna Lee, her parents, a sister Mattie Harman. three brothers, Marlin, Garland and Milton.
Lillie is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Imogene and Robert Cottman of Ponca City. Twylah Jo and Otis Wyscaver of Goltry, a son and his wife, Harold and Vera of Freedom. Eight grandchildren. Rod, Hal, Mickey, Kathy, Perry, Darrel, Tommy and Rhonda, nineteen Great grandchildren. Two sisters, Juanita and her husband, Bernard Balk of Mooreland, Meddie Shipley of Hemet, California. A number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
James William Walling died Tuesday morning, Sept. 19, at,11:55 at his home, south of Mooreland, after an illness of two years He was a pioneer resident of this community, and was aged 67 years.
He was born in Illinois Apr 18, 1866 died at Mooreland, Okla., Sept. 19, 1933, age 67 years, 5 months, 1 day. He went from Illinois with his parents, to Missouri, and in 1892 married Atwilda Fordney. To this union five children were born. He came to Oklahoma in 1904 with his family and resided here until the time of his death.
His wife and daughter, Anna Nora, preceded him in death. Children surviving are, Charles Arthur Walling and Rugy Lou Walling of Mooreland, Gladys Eugene Janow and Wilda Maude Endersby of Woodward.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon from the M. E. church, Rev. I. E. Bula officiating. Interment to be made in the Mooreland cemetery. R. J. Knittel is the undertaker in charge.
