Funeral Slated Today For Dennis Wyckoff

Dennis T. Wyckoff, 70-year-old Mooreland resident and retired Santa Fe railroad worker, died early Monday, Aug. 23, 1976, at Northwest Community Hospital, Mooreland, Funeral services will be held Thursday (today), Aug. 26,, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Christian Church, Mooreland.

Floyd Thompson, pastor of the local Christian Church, will officiate and he will be assisted by Rev. Lynn Lamb, pastor of the Mooreland First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Mooreland Cemetery under direction of Billings-Knittel Funeral Home.

Dennis Theobolt Wyckoff was born December 4, 1905, in Mooreland, the son of Jesse and Mary Wyckoff. He attended Mooreland area schools, worked for the State Highway Department and also spent time engaged in farming. On July 5, 1931, he married Rosa Hibbs in Mooreland.

In 1939 he began working for the A. T. and S. F. as part of a section crew working from Curtis to Canadian, Tex. His wife preceded him in death May 23, 1969 and he retired from the railroad in 1970.

On July 4, 1971, he married Hattie Ruttman in Mooreland and they have made their home in Mooreland since that time.

Survivors include his wife, Hattie, of the home; five sons, LeRoy Wyckoff of Enid, Jack Ruttman and Wayne Ruttman of Woodward Robert Ruttman of Norman and Jay Ruttman of Mooreland; four daughters, Mrs. Claude (Pat) Williamson of Mooreland, Mrs. Raymond (Ruth) Blumer of Shallowater, Tex., Mrs. Junior (Venita) Slay and Mrs. Scott (Susie) Kline of Woodward; six sisters, Mrs. Georgia Bailey of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Hazel Nelson of Chelan, Wa., Mrs. Pauline Higgenbothem of Ulysses, Kans., Mrs. Howard (Pleasintinia) (“Babe”) Wiley of Yakima, Wa., Mrs. Maxine Castell of Mooreland and Mrs. Irene Alford of Ft. Collins, Cole.; four brothers, Jack of Spokane, Wa., John of Woodward, Simon or Mooreland and Byron of Trout Creek, Mont., 28 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mooreland First Christian Church.


Eliza Jane Ramey
Buried Here Tuesday

Eliza Jane Ramey, 83, former Mooreland resident, died at her home in Sedan, Kans., early Sunday, Sept. 11, 1977. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Mooreland United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Elswick, pastor, officiating.

Interment was made in Mooreland Cemetery and services were arranged and conducted by Billings-Knittel Funeral Home.

Eliza Jane Lovell was born September 21, 1893, in Plymouth county, Iowa, the daughter of J. G. and Margaret Lovell. She came to Oklahoma with her parents in January, 1908, settling seven miles south of Curtis on a homestead.

She lived most of her life southeast of Mooreland and on March 11, 1927, she married Leslie E. Ramey in Woodward. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1973.

After her husband’s death, Mrs. Ramey moved to Sedan in September, 1973. She was a member of the Mooreland First United Methodist Church

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Marion (Irene) Davis of Sedan; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Mount of Sioux City, Iowa; two grandchildren, Mrs. Judy Huff of Norfolk, Va., and Jerry Davis of Sedan, and one great granddaughter, Kimberly Huff.


Mrs. Nellie Nash, 88, Dies Sunday, Oct. 3

Mrs. Nellie Nash, 88-year-old resident of the Colonial Manor Nursing Home, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1976, in Woodward. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Mooreland First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Elswick, pastor, officiating.

Interment was made in the Mooreland Cemetery and services were arranged and conducted by the Billings-Knittel Funeral Home in Mooreland.

Mrs. Nash was born March 17, 1888 in Abilene, Kans., the daughter of Edward J. and Anna Webber. She came to Woodward county with her parents in 1901 and on March 24, 1907, married Ed Nash at Cedardale. They lived in Quinlan, Freedom and Kingsdown, Kans., before moving to Mooreland in 1945.

She made her home in Mooreland until 1974 and at that time she entered the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Woodward. Mr. Nash preceded her in death in November, 1948.

Mrs. Nash was a member of the Mooreland First United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Quinlan Rebekah Lodge and a member of Mooreland Rebekah Lodge No. 160.

Survivors include two daughters Mrs. Art (Pluma) Hepner of Woodward and Mrs. Gilbert (Vernice) Porter of Greenfield, Mo,, one brother, Clarence Webber of Okeene; two sisters, Ada Parker of Perkins and Laura McMoran of Coldwater Kans., nine grandchildren 25 great grandchildren, one great great
