Funeral services for Sterling Wallace Weaver, 50, will be held Fri., Feb. 13, at 1:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Woodward with the Rev. Robert DeMoss, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in the Darrouzett, Tex., cemetery under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home. Woodward VFW Post #1335 will be in charge of the graveside service.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Sterling Wallace Weaver scholarship fund at the Bank of Woodward. The scholarship fund is for law students from Woodward County and will be directed by the Woodward County Bar Association.
Sterling Wallace Weaver was born April 27, 1925, in Inglewood, Calif., and died late. Monday evening, Feb. 9, in the Veteran’s Hospital, Oklahoma City, following suffering a cerebral hemorrhage on Nov. 15, 1975.
He came to Eufala, Okla., with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Weaver, when he was just a few months old. He was graduated from Eufala High School and attended Oklahoma State University where he was graduated with a BA degree in Forestry. He was employed by the U.S. Forestry Service and while living in Mississippi, attended the University of Mississippi. Upon retiring in 1966, he attended Tulsa University and in 1971, received his Juris Doctrate from Oklahoma City University. He received his license to practice law in 1971 and in June, 1972, with his wife, Bernice, moved to Woodward where he established a law office at 1405 Oklahoma.
Mr. Weaver was a member of the Woodward Rotary Club, VFW Pos 1335, Woodward County Bar Association, American Legion Post 1112, Oklahoma City; Sheriff and Peace Officers Association, American Bar Association, Oklahoma Bar Association, Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association, Kappa Alpha Order, and the Ridgecrest Methodist Church, Oklahoma City.
During World War II, he served with the 517th Parachute Division and was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge.
Surviving him is his widow, Bernice, of the home at 1405 Oklahoma; two sons, Greg Weaver and Jeff Weaver, both of Jay, Okla.; one stepson, Marty Getz, Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Lisa Fischer, Langley, Okla., and Kelly Weaver, Jay; two stepdaughters, Bonnie Getz Logan, Okla., and Mrs. Renea Dettman, Dallas, Tex.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Beaver, Broken Arrow; one brother, W.O. Weaver, Broken Arrow, and one sister, Mrs. Gloria White, Stockton, Calif.
Funeral Services for Greg Allen Lovell, 15month old son of Bobby and Saundra Lovell, were held Wed., Feb. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Mooreland First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn Lamb, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Mooreland Cemetery. Services were arranged and conducted by Billings-Knittel Funeral Home.
He died as the result of an accidental drowning on Sun., Feb. 8.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Lovell; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Holloway; maternal great-grandfather, Lawrence Holloway; maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Isaac Garvie, all of Mooreland; maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Ila Finley, San Pedro, Calif.; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs Robert L. Lovell, Wichita Falls, Tex.; paternal great grandmother, Mrs. G.T. Lovell, Mesquite, Tex.; paternal great- grandmother, Mrs. L.S. Futrell, Oklahoma City; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
E. J. Anderson, 84, of Mangum, father of R. H. (Andy) Anderson, Woodward contractor, died at his home Tuesday evening. Funeral arrangements are pending with Lovett's Funeral Home, Mangum, in charge.
Andy has gone to Mangum and his wife, Oma Jean, will join him later this week. Other survivors include another son, Ralph, of Ft. Worth, Tex.
