Missing Men Reported Safe

Two Woodward men caused moments of tension Tuesday and Wednesday when they failed to return home from a target practice session, according to the sheriffs office.

Irvin Sills and his brother-in-law Kelly Watt, reportedly left the Sills residence about 3 p.m. Tuesday to do some practice shooting and when they failed to come home the sheriffs office was notified Wednesday morning.

However, the pair called the Sills residence about 2 p.m. Wednesday and told a relative they were safe and would be home shortly. They didn’t offer an explanation of where they had been or where they were when they called.

Selman Escapes Serious Injury

Bob Selman, well known Woodward area rancher, escaped serious injury at noon Sunday when the car he was driving collided with a freight train at a blind crossing just north of Selaman.

Selman was taken to Buffalo hospital where he was treated for broken ribs and cuts and lacerations. He expects to be released from the hospital by Friday.

Trains don’t run on that track on a regular schecule, but the spur line of the Santa Fe is used between Waynoka and Buffalo when needed.
