February 16, 1906.

Vena Thomas, the four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas who live thirteen miles south of town, died last Thursday from the effects of burns received a few days before. A pile of trash was being burned and the child in playing about, got her clothing on fire. Her mother, who is subject to heart trouble, seeing the child burning be come so faint from the shock that she could not reach the child in time to save her. The funeral was held Friday.

February 23, 1906.

Born. To Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wheeler, a bouncing boy on Feb. 22nd. Mother and’ child doing nicely.

Mrs. Mary C. Baker, aged sixty years and nineteen days, died, Wednesday at her rooms in the Hunter building, from the effects of catarrh of the stomach, and was buried in the new cemetery yesterday. Mrs. Baker leaves a husband, two children, Thoas. Baker at Cooley and Mrs. Horace Walker, of the same place. County Attorney Luther Martin of Alva, is a nephew of the deceased.

In the Parlor of the Central Hotel of this city, Mr. J. Matt McGee and Miss Gertrude Green of Gage, OkIa. were united in Matrimony by Ed S. McKinney pastor of the Christian Church. This young couple enter into married life with high prospects. The bride is the sweet and accomplished daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Green of Gage. The bride groom is an enterprising farmer.
