WANN

My question relates to the town of Wann, Oklahoma; and for whom it was named. Some of my family were Wann's; Curtis Lewis WANN being my great, great grandfather. He died in Saline County, Kansas in 1900, but I know that some of his brothers and sisters lived along the Oklahoma-Kansas line. His father's name was John WANN, and his sisters name was Cahterine LEWIS. I have birth, death, and marriage dates for both of them, but no places.

EVERITT

Seeking information concerning Daisy EVERITT who taught in the Nowata school in the 1930's. Daisy was born and raised in Cherokee County, KS. Her parents were John EVERITT and Jane MANAR. Daisy never married, and as far as I have been able to find out, never returned to Cherokee County, KS to live. She was my mother's cousin and I would appreciate hearing from any one who knew her. Since she never married, I am hoping those whom she either taught or who taught with her will share a little bit about her.

MITCHELL

I have been looking for my grandparents in Oklahoma, for the past year, to no avail. Please, help me. My father, Robert Arnold MITCHELL, and his brother Franklin MITCHELL, were placed in the orphan's home in Oklahoma City in about 1896. They are listed on the 1900 census in the Beulah Heights Orphanage founded by Mattie MALLORY. It says that their parents were fromTennessee. I have reason to believe that my dad and his brother were placed in the orphanage by court order (perhaps a record of a Court Order in the County Court House), because his mother could not get them out once they were entered in there. My father was born September 9 or June 1890 or 1892. His brother, Franklin, was born about April 1895. His mother's first name was Orena (last name may be LOWREY). His father must have been Mitchell and his first name might have been the same as one of the children (Robert, Arnold or Franklin). I assume that his father and mother migrated from Tennessee sometime prior to 1890. They settled on the Cherokee Strip. I believe from evidence in stories told to me by my dad that they lived somewhere within a half day wagon ride from Coffeyville, Kansas; possibly Nowata County, OK. His dad wore a "ten gallon" hat and a gun belt around his waist. My dad thought that his dad was killed, maybe in a gun fight. He also speculated that he was either a law man or an outlaw. Lawmen have followed in our family. After his dad left or died, his mother, his brother and he went to live on a homestead with the HUTCHESON family on the Cherokee Strip for about a year. HUTCHESON had two boys about 17 and 19 years of age around 1895. It would be the greatest day in our family if I could find out who our granparents were. I don't care if they were saints or sinners. They must be buried somewhere. I really want to know who they were. Can anyone help me?
