Native American
Research Project

The Native American Research Project is intended to provide a place where those with special interest in Native American families from Kingfisher County and surrounding areas may share their genealogical findings. These may include records of any kind, including census records, birth, marriage, and death records, and land records.

If you would like to share your research, please send your information to me at [email protected], with "NATIVE AMERICAN RESEARCH PROJECT" in the subject line. (If you send your information as an attachment, please be sure that it is in .txt format.)

Query: Mary ("Minnie") Blankenship

Please if anyone knows a Mary (nickname Minnie)(Amanda or Arminda middle name) Blankenship, born 1885 died 1968 in Buchanan County Virginia, married Grover Cleveland Sreeet. She is known to be Indian. But I cannot find any information supporting this. Her mother is said to be Martha Jane (nickname 'Bosh' or 'Barsh') Hale. And Martha's mom is supposed to be Martha Jane Fletcher. My mother says she remembers her talking to her about being Indian and showing her the courting beads she used to have. A lot of my people are from N.C. so they can very well be Cherokee. Please contact me, if anyone knows anything, no matter how small.
