Homer A. Knight, 56, of Shady Point, a retired consultant in the oil industry, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at St. Edward's Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark. He was born June 22, 1942, in Greeley, Colo., to Homer H. and Veda (Mattox) Knight. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and married Sherry Qualls on June 13, 1962, in Wister.
He had lived in Shady Point since 1981, moving there from Poteau.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at the First Assembly of God Church in Poteau, where he was a member. Rev. Keith Williams will officiate. Burial will be in
Oakland Cemetery in Poteau.
Knight is survived by his wife, Sherry, of the home; three sons, Bryan Keith Knight of Fort Smith, Kevin Auther Knight of Panama, and Shawn Eric Knight of Shady Point; a daughter, Tina Marie Holley of Shady Point; a brother, Vernard Knight of Poteau; three sisters, Kathleen Peters of Tulsa, Carolyn Crossland of Poteau and Sharon Walker of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren, Brandon Holley, Tyler Knight, Joshua Knight, Tony Knight, all of Shady Point, and Kaitline Durham of Panama; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Knight; and one grandchild, Paden Holley.
Pallbearers will be Joe Walker, David Holley, Jim Peters, John Pfalzgraf, Larry Crossland, Mark Crossland and Steve Peters.
