Johnnie Lee Kennedy, 65, of Whitesboro, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2002.
He was born Aug. 30, 1936 in Pine Valley to Uless "U.S." Kennedy and Vadys Rainwater-Kennedy and born again in Christ Sept. 2, 2001. He graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1955, married Lavada Cranford June 13, 1955 and had just celebrated their 47th anniversary. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting; he also had a real love for antique automobiles. He worked at the sawmill in California when he was 15 years old. He joined the boilermaker union in 1955 and still belonged to it, worked for Flint Steel in Tulsa for 16 years then moved home to raise a family, while working at the Talihina Veterans Center until he retired in 1986.
He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Uless Jr. and Eugene; and two nephews, Gaylord Kennedy and Jackie Dean Kennedy Jr.
He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Raymond Kennedy of Big Cedar; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Danny Davis and Melinda and Randy Williams, all of Big Cedar; six grandchildren, Angie and Brad Turner, Johnny and Autumn Kennedy, Scott Kennedy, Kevin and Samantha Davis, Cory Williams and Desiree Williams; four great-grandchildren, Waylon and Elyssa Turner and Kaylyn and Shaylee Davis; his mother; his mother-in-law, Ethel Cranford; three brothers, Jackie and Judy Kennedy, Tony and Nancy Kennedy and Bobby and Geraldine Coffey; two sisters, Joan and Butch Kennedy and Brenda and Jim Elrod, all of Muse; sister-in-law, Margie Kennedy-Graff of Nowata; 21 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews as well as his many friends and loved ones.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at the Whitesboro Assembly of God with the Revs. Ron Brannon and Carrol Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at the
Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jack Johnson, Walter James, Mackie Frazier, Carol Rainwater, Randy Kennedy and Larry Dixon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Wilcox and Ivan Morris.
