Wanda Gail Holt, 63, of Sallisaw, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2002. She was born Dec. 13, 1938 in Poteau to L.H. "Smitty" Smith and Melba Christine Bennett. She married Glen Dale Holt Jan. 14, 1955 at Heavener.
She graduated from Poteau High School in 1958 and attended Poteau Junior College after high school. She was a bookkeeper and automotive consultant. She lived in San Francisco, Calif. and then in Oklahoma, Calif. and Washington before retiring to Sallisaw in 1996. She was a member of the Blunt Baptist Church where she served as treasurer. She and her husband were actively involved in the creation of the Blunt Spanish Mission and she directed the ESL classes at Blunt Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother; stepfather, Thomas H. Jones Sr.; and one brother, Thomas H. Jones Jr.
Survivors include her husband Glen of the home; one son, Curtis Holt and wife Lyn of Malo, Wash.; three daughters, Susan Martin and husband Joe of Toledo, Wash., Leah Morse and husband John of Westville and Nancy Holt of Sallisaw; four brothers, L.H. "Sluggo" Smith Jr. of Wister, Terry Smith, John Remy, Gregory Smith and wife Penny, all of Poteau; four sisters, Carolyn Nagy and husband Harry of Fort Smith, Beverly Tate and husband Bill, Susie Currens and husband Wayne and Lori Vishkoff and husband Mike, all of Poteau; 15 grandchildren, Joshua Holt of Sallisaw, Daniel Holt and wife Samantha of Longview, Wash., Rachel Smith and husband Chris of Silverlake Wash., Seth, Andrew, Katie, Benjamin, Peter, Jennifer, Joel and Sally Martin, Isaac, Nathan and Christine Morse and Jessica Holt; one great-granddaughter, River Holt of the home; and five other great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and many, many other friends and loved ones.
A going away party will be held Monday, June 10 at 2 p.m. at Blunt Baptist Church in Sallisaw. Burial will follow at the Brushy Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
