COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Robert Wayne Davis, 69, of Cookeville, Tenn., brother of Lester L. Davis Sr. of Wooster, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at Alvin C. York Veteran's Administration Center (hospice unit) in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Services were held Monday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home, Livingston, Tenn. The Rev. Kenneth Kirby of Victory Free Will Baptist Church, McMinnville, Tenn., officiated.
Graveside services with full military honors followed at 3 p.m. at Sadlersville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Sadlersville, Tenn., with Speck Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The Honor Guard from the 101st Airborne Division of Fort Campbell, Ky., participated in the military ceremonies.
He was born April 25, 1930 in Cameron, Okla., to James Henley and Sarah Ellen (Cherry) Davis and married Louise Collins. She died in 1986. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his brother, are a sister, Olene Flute of Sayre, Okla.; half-brothers, Veachel Davis, Damon Davis and Leonard Davis, all of Poteau, Okla., and Buddy Ray Harris of Antlers, Okla.; half-sisters, Mae Inez Eccles of Atwater, Calif., Reba Stansbury of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Faye Jackson of Clayton, Okla.; a special aunt, Melba Neely, who was his care-giver of several years of Cookeville, Tenn., and several other aunts uncles, nieces and nephews.
