Mrs. Eliza Ward Casey had her 99th birthday (Celebration) at the Spiro, Oklahoma nursing home on May 29. She was born in Skullyville, Indian Territory on May 29, 1878. She is half Choctaw with roll number 7029. Her parents were Joseph and Lula Ward. There were three boys and four girls in the family.

The only surviving sister is Mrs. Lula Lester of Spiro.

Eliza and her sister, Rebecca, attended New Hope Academy during 1892 and for several years later. She married John Fletcher Casey in 1901 and they built a home near Murray Spur where she lived until a few years ago. Her husband died in 1953. They had six children: Sumler Casey of Williams, Oklahoma; Duel Casey of Spiro; Vanard Casey of Williams; Harvey Casey of Long Beach, California; Myrtle Standridge of Eufaula, Oklahoma; and Bernice Brogan of Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She has 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
