Gene Burks, 68, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, in Fort Smith. Funeral services were held at 1 pm Monday at Heritage Baptist Church in Fort Smith. Burial was in
Fairview Cemetery in Spiro, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Kay; two sons, Richard and David; four sisters, Christine, Nell, JoAnn and Betty; two brothers, Henry and Don; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Burks was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence "Pappa" Schoeppey and Ada Schoeppey and also Dave Schoeppey.
