Dorris Faye Bates, 75, of Spiro, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was born May 25, 1926
in Walls to Charley and Bertha Anna (Newcomb) Fout. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in
Bokoshe. She was retired from Whirlpool Corp. and was a welder in the shipyards.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dolan Fout; and a sister, Mary Evelyn
Fout.
Survivors include her husband, Jay Bates of the home; one daughter, Marilyn Bullard of Pocola; one son, Gary
Bates of Spiro; two sisters, Sylvia Tanksley of Pocola and Sybil Monks of Shady Point; two grandchildren, C.
Lynn Bullard and Shawn Bullard; one great-grandchild, Gracie Bullard; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at First Assembly of God Church in Bokoshe with the Rev. Lynn
Bullard officiating. Burial will follow in Old Bokoshe Cemetery in Bokoshe under the direction of Evans &
Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
