Karen Jo Thornburg Lambert, 52, of Wister, passed away Monday, June 9, 2003, at Fort Smith, Ark. She was born July 31, 1950 in Poteau. She was a nurse. Karen was a beautiful woman who spent many happy years in Poteau. She was a wonderful mother to three children. Karen's grandchildren meant so much to her and Jack Cit was evident when they were together. She loved to take pictures of them and play childhood games. They all had a good time when they were with her.

She was preceded in death by one son, Greg Lambert on July 5, 1997.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kara Michele and Bud Hammons of Wister; one son and daughter-in-law, Robie Joe Lambert and RaDanna Coates of Fayetteville, Ark.; her parents, Joe Thornburg of Fanshawe and Aileen Thornburg of Poteau; one sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Gary Garrett of Poteau; one brother, Chadd Thornburg of Modesto, Calif.; five grandchildren, Whitney Nichole Lambert, Rebecca Lynn Lambert, Jesse Allen Hammons, William Ray Hammons and Kate Elizabeth Hammons; special cousins, nephews, and friends, Dianna Dameron, John, Colby and Jared Garrett, Janet Oliver and Brian and Christy Dameron; numerous other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 12 at Ellis Chapel Church at Wister with the Revs. Jack Covey and Jimmy D. Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery at Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Duncan, David Baker, Jason Earl Thornburg, Mark Baker, Brian Keith Dameron, John Garrett, Jared Garrett and Bubba Bernard.
