Dr. Francis Earl Johnston II, 59, formerly a Henryetta resident, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in Bixby. He was born Oct. 10, 1943 in Henryetta to Francis Earl and Jessie Mae (Rogers) Johnston. He married Bonnie McAnally on Aug. 18, 1967 in Coyle and was a Board Certified Podiatrist for 25 years. Earl graduated Central State (University of Central Oklahoma) in 1967 with a double degree in chemistry and biology. He attended the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine and graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1976. He completed his surgical residency in 1977 and earned his EED, a doctor in higher education from OSU in 1994. He attended the Parkview Baptist Church and was a member of the Oklahoma Podiatric Medical Association, the American Podiatric Medical Association, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Ada Masonic Lodge, a lifetime member of the Ada Amateur Radio Club, a Baptist deacon and a member of MENSA.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie of the home; three children, Heather Russell and husband Greg of Poteau, Shannon Thompson and husband Ryan of Tulsa and Tres Johnston of Stillwater; three grandchildren, Aryn and Garrett Thompson and Tyler Russell; his mother Jessie Mae Hunter and husband Gabe of Henryetta.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Romines officiating and the Rev. Jim Paslay assisting. Burial will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home of Henryetta.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Walker, Dell Walker, Ryan Thompson, Greg Russell, Harry Atkins, Bill Nelson, John Baker, Wade Hiett and Rodne Roden. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Gabe Hunter and O.E. McAnally.
