Dr. John W. Godbehere Jr.

Memorial services for Dr. John W. Godbehere Jr. of Cairo, Ga. were held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2003, in the chapel of Thomasville First Baptist Church where he was a member. Internment is private.

Godbehere was born Jan. 8, 1920 in Hot Springs, Ark., the son of the late John W. and Leona Howard Godbehere. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Godbehere Pitts. 

Survivors are his wife, Frances Rosser Godbehere of Cairo; sons, Steve Godbehere of Cairo and Jerry Godbehere of Marlboro, N.J.; and seven grandchildren.

Godbehere, a 1937 graduate of Poteau High School attended the University of Arkansas, Northeastern Oklahoma State University and received the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor University of Dentistry. A naval reserve dental officer, he served on active duty during World War II as a battalion dental surgeon with the Fifth Amphibious Corps Artillery, the Sixth Marine Division and the First Marine Division in the Pacific Theater and during the occupation of China.
