Ruby Emerson, 78, of Bokoshe, passed away Monday, April 21, 2003, at Fort Smith, Ark. She was born Nov. 7, 1924 at Bokoshe. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bokoshe and a cashier/checker. She was a wonderful mother and loved raising her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd "Doby" Emerson; her parents, Nolen and Orpha (Elliott) Shore; and two brothers, U.J. Shore and Nolen Shore Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Don Emerson and Randy Emerson, both of Bokoshe; four grandsons, Ryan, Curtis and Bobby Emerson of Bokoshe and Shad Emerson of Fayetteville, Ga.; three granddaughters, Michelle Ross of Greenbriar, Ark., Janette Beam of Mannford and Kerri Emerson of Bokoshe; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24 at the First United Methodist Church of Bokoshe with the Rev. Mary Sue Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow in Old Bokoshe Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

Pallbearers will be Winford Atchley, Heath Cosgrove, David Stroup, Larry Brooks, Robert Pollock, Joe Henderson and Charles Henderson.
