Chesley A. Benson, 90, of Howe, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Fort Smith, Ark. He was a longtime resident of LeFlore County, a retired coal miner, a member of the United Mine Workers of America, a rock and brick mason, a past member of the Howe Public School Board of Education and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by two sons, David and Harvey Benson.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Hazel; one daughter, Mary Ellen Benson of Howe; three daughters-in-law, Mary Lee Benson, Donna Benson and Jane Benson; two sons, Jimmy Dale Benson of Collinsville and Paul Benson of Heavener; several nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Stella Benson; one brother-in-law, Basil Cowan; two granddaughters, Angel Hall and Shannon Benson; three grandsons, David Jr. Benson, Christopher Benson and Wade Benson; four great-grandsons, Brandon and Justin Benson, Eric Haynes and John Hall; one step great-grandson, Jared Hall; two great-granddaughters, Breanna and Briley Benson.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25 at Howe Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
