History of the Faculty
of
Logan County High School


George W. DERRICK, Assistant Principal
Born in Iowa. A student in the Chadron, Nebraska, High School and later in the Central State Normal School of Oklahoma. Has been teaching in Oklahoma for ten years, being Principal of town schools; for the past four years County Superintendent of the Logan County Schools. On August 1, 1907, accepted the Assistant Principalship and head of the Department of Pedagogy and Civics in the Logan County High School.

Paul E. LAIRD, B.S., Head of Department of Science
Received his early education in Atchison County, Kansas. Graduate of the Atchison County High School, and has completed a Scientific Course in the University of Kansas. In the Argentine, Kansas schools, as Principal of the Second Ward School for four years and two years head of the Science Department of the Argentine High School.

Arthur R. SWANK, A.B., Department of Mathematics
Attended the ward schools of Weatherly, PA, and the first ward schools in Guthrie. Graduate of the Preparatory Department, Henry Kendall College, of Muskogee and of the University of Oklahoma in the spring of 1907, with the degree of A.B. in Economics.

Etta HIKES, Latin Department
Graduate of the Northwestern Normal School of Missouri; has had special work in Literature and Languages in the University of Chicago. Taught for ten years in the city schools of Guthrie, and in the Logan County High School since its organization.

Luella REED, A.B., English Department
Attended the Preparatory School and the Woman's College in Jacksonville. Graduated for the High School of Danville, and Northwestern University in Chicago, 1903, in English Language and Literature. She had two years in Crannock School of Oratory in Chicago, held the fellowship in English, and was instructor in the English Department of James Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois.

Margaret DOOLITTLE, Department of English
Born in Illinois. Educated in the public schools of Winfield, Kansas, and Central State Normal at Edmond, Oklahoma. Has since taught in the public schools of Logan County and in the Logan County High School.

Lida GAFFNEY, Commercial Department
Graduate of the Capital City Business College of Guthrie, and for a number of years she was a teacher in that institution. With the Logan County High School since 1905.

Jennie WOOD, Commercial Department
Received her early education in the schools of Kansas and Oklahoma. She is a graduate of the Logan County High School, and this is her second year as instructor in Typewriting and Stenography.

Mabel G. SEELY, Librarian and Instructor in Latin Reading
Received her education in the public schools of Missouri and the St. Joseph, Missouri, High School. Has taught in the St. Joseph city schools, the Guthrie city schools and the Logan County High School.

Eva V. ALLISON, English Department
Graduate of the Nebraska State Normal School. Superintendent of the Medford public schools for two years, and head of the English Department in the Logan County High School for the past three years.

George NORRIS, A.B., Department of Mathematics
Educated in the public schools of Missouri and Oklahoma. Graduate of Kingfisher College. Since 1903 head of the Mathematics Department and Director of Athletics in the Logan County High School.

Addie M. BARNARD, Preparatory Department
Educated in the Public schools of Kansas and Oklahoma. Graduate of the Mulhall schools and the Capital City Business College. Head of the Preparatory Department of the Logan County High School two years.

S.L. ROMINE, Head of Commercial Department
Born in Illinois and was educated in Winfield, Kansas, schools. Is a graduate of the Commercial Department, Southwest Kansas College. Taught in the Southwest Kanasas College for three years. For six years head of the Commercial Department of the Sumner County High School at Wellington.

N. Gertrude HUNT, B.S., Science Department
Educated in a private school at Winfield, Kansas, and in Oklahoma Schools. Attended the Stillwater High School and the Agricultural and Mechanical College, graduating from the Scientific Course in 1902. Attended the summer school of the Colorado State Normal at Greely, 1907.
