July 1, 1889, John applied for citizenship in Crowley County, Kansas.

July 23, 1889, John applied for a land patent at the Land Office, Indian Territory, 160 acres in NW1/4, Sect 25, Twp 15, Range 3W. On November 21, 1889, Peter Herman applied for a land patent, NW1/4, Sect 26, Twp 15, Range 3W.

John, Christine and family lived 1 1/2 miles from Waterloo, 1/2 mile west of Charles White, in 1895, he stated that he had lived there for 6 years. Previously, he stated that he had lived 10 years in Allen County, Kansas, west of Elsmore. This information came from an affidavit he gave for the trial of his son, Eddie.
