William, born October 12, 1894, and Bessie, born July 27, 1891, grew up in Oklahoma Territory east of Okeene. She was the daughter of Joseph and Annie Lee of Okeene.

William and Bessie were married in August 1914 and raised their family near Lacey, Oklahoma and Wichita, Kansas. They later lived on farmland Bessie inherited near Okeene.

The Gordons had seven children: Cornelia, Lester, Ronalda, Virgil, Audrey, Glen and Anna. The younger two died in infancy.

William Gordon passed away at his home near Okeene on February 14, 1952. His widow, Bessie, subsequently moved to Wichita, Kansas, and later to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, were she died on December 28, 1967. The Gordons are interred close to family in Parvin Cemetery east of Okeene.
