BLACK, WALK posted by Dan Stevenson on Monday, January 26, 1998

WALK: Looking to exchanger information on WALK family. In 1920 Henry James WALK (James) (18 Jul 1838 - 28 Mar 1921) and his wife Mary Ann BLACK WALK (1842-???) were living alone at Jackson County, Oklahoma. There were known to have seven children. They moved up from Texas. Does anyone have a Jackson County, OK cemetery index to see if they are buried at Jackson County? Are any other WALKs buried there? It is a very unusual surname and all of the families are related. [email protected]

COX, DEATON, SHIELDS, WYNNE posted by L:arose A. Wynne on Sunday, February 8, 1998

J. W. SHIELDS born ca 1860 in Mississippi (probably Panola County). He married 2ndly Martha Ann "Mattie" (DEATON)(WYNNE)(COX). He had known "Mattie" when they were young and after his 1st wife of 30 years died, he searched and found "Mattie." They returned to Winona, MS and were married around 1914 in the Scotland Church there. They then returned to his home in ALTUS, JACKSON COUNTY, MS. where he was an Alderman and a "big oil man," and were welcomed home by a brass band. He died around 1928, we think in ALTUS, OK. I am interested in any records concerning him and his life in ALTUS. Advice as to how to find information on him will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
