Gould Service Stations

By
Bettye Bullington

Several service stations operated in Gould throughout the years.

Mr. Lee owned the one where the Harmon County Water Office is located. He sold the first gallon of gas in Gould.

Rady Trout had one at the west end of Gould.

Elton and Lester Rogers ran a service station a block east of the intersection of Hwy. 5 and Hwy. 62. Then Dub and Grace Bell ran it for years. They sold it to George and Ursula Teague.

In the 1980s the Teagues put a caf in this building.

Across the street east, Ernest Miranda had a service station and garage.

South of Hwy. 62 on Hwy. 5 and one block west near the Gould School Will and Notie Little had a service station and school store.

Ida Bryant built a grocery and gas station on Hwy. 62 and Gibson Street in the 1980s. She also had a caf in the front. It was a busy place as long as she ran it. She sold it, and the people were not a friendly bunch so it didnt last. It was closed and is now boarded up and the gas pumps are gone.
