Tax Payers in Prairie Township, Washington County, Arkansas, from the old
record books of the County Clerk, G.W.M. Reed, was originally published in Flashback
Magazine, May, 1957, by the Washington Co., Ark. Historical Society,
Contributor James Manford Carseloway, who points out the genealogical value –
"Many Oklahomans have ancestors who were early settlers in Arkansas. Many
folks in those days came from Tenn.-Ala.-S.C.-N.C.-Miss.-N.O. [sic] (and
adjacent states)." OGS has a handwritten copy listing James M. Anderson
through F.J. Gibson . . .4 pages.
- Susannah Wickett Ridge
b 1769 (wife of Major Ridge) d Sept. 1, 1849 at her home on Honey Creek,
Delaware District, Cherokee Nation, Indian Terr., near Southwest City, Mo.

- Cherokee Nation East –
Betsie Watie (wife of Gen. Stand Watie) died in childbirth in March 1836;
the child died too. Stand Watie came to Cherokee Nation West, Indian
Territory, by steamboat in 1837. (JMC)
