The funeral services for Thelma Maxine Morris, 95 year-old Enid resident, will be Friday, May 27, 2011 at 3:30 PM in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. James Lambert will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Thelma was born February 2, 1916 in Rural Covington, Oklahoma to Ralph and Olive (Clodfelter) Claunch and died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She attended and graduated from Covington Schools.
In January of 1933 she married Hoy Nave in Covington. They made their first home in Ponca City. As Hoy worked for oil companies, they lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana and also Venezuela. Two this union two sons were born.
In 1948 she married Roy Morris and they made their home in Enid. Roy had four children from a previous marriage. She was a long-time member of Willow View United Methodist Church. She liked to sew, vacation at their cabin in Colorado, and was a great cook. Her homemade noodles were everyone's favorite. But mostly, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by three children; Don Nave and wife Gerry, of Houston, Texas, Tom and Bertie Morris, of Wichita, Kansas, and Hazel Dyer of Cleo Springs, Oklahoma. 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy, Hoy Nave, two step-sons; Harold and Richard Morris, and one sister and two brothers.
