 The memorial services for Michael S. Lay, 63 year-old Enid resident will be Wednesday March 9, 2011 from 2:00PM to4:00PM at The Frisco BarMike was born June 22, 1947 in Enid to Roy and Mari An (Smith) Lay and died Saturday, March 5, 2011 in St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He attended local schools and graduated from John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City. After graduating, Mike joined the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Tolovana AO64 and the U.S.S. Oklahoma City CLG5. After his service he pursued a career in the Merchant Marines. He traveled all over the world in his 32 year career until his retirement in 2008. He was a pilot, an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and loved animals. He had begun plans to begin breeding black labs. He had cats, dogs, and a parrot. He is survived by his son Jason Bannister and wife of Navato, California and daughter Susan Lay of Iowa City, Iowa. Two grandchildren, one brother Herb Robinson Jr., three sisters; Patti Bickerstaff, Lisa Cameron, and Lori Grabher. Step-mother Jerry Lay, and step-father Herbert Robinson Sr., cousin Jeann Svarvar, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
