Loretta was born March 23, 1911 in Ottawa, KS to Frank and Cecil (Porter) Mathias and passed away May 8, 2011 in Enid. In On December 10, 1925, she married Charles Clifford (CC) McDaniel in Garnett, Kansas. In 1943, they made Enid their home. After 51 years of marriage, CC preceded her in death in 1977.
Loretta is survived by her children, LaVerne Turney and husband, Richard, of Enid; Peggy Jack, of Enid; Merle McDaniel, of Lamont; Patty Garren and husband, Tom, of Tulsa.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Jack McDaniel and wife, Lenora; daughter, Donna Chance and husband, Jimmy; son-in-law, Wayne Jack and grandson, Junior McDaniel. What a reunion she is having with all her loved ones that have preceded her in death.
Loretta's greatest joy was being with her family which also includes 18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and four great-great-great grandchildren. Her beautiful eyes would light up when any of her family would show up to eat one of her fabulous meals.
Later in life, she took up the hobby of making crafts. She would travel to Arkansas to the craft show so people could purchase the wonderfully crafted items she would make each year. While living at The Commons, Loretta was known for her love of playing dominoes. One could always find her seated at a table around 8:30am waiting for someone to play a game or two with her. We are so grateful for all the wonderful people who shared their time with Loretta the last few years of her life.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Enid. She loved to say poems and one of her favorites was "Over the River and Through the Woods". I think it was her favorite because she actually lived a life like that when she was a little girl. Loretta had a love for life. She was always ready to go and do anything someone would suggest to her. She will be missed greatly, not only by her family but by everyone who knew her. We were blessed to have been a part of her life.
Memorials can be made through the funeral home to The Commons Pastoral Care Ministries. |
