The graveside service for Edward Stanley, 104 year-old Enid resident will be1:30PM Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in Memorial Park Cemetery. Chaplain Steven Meier will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Edward was born October 27, 1907 in Montgomery County, Kansas to Lewis and Emma Stanley and died Thursday, January 12, 2012 in his home in Enid. He attended a one room school house through the eighth grade and graduated high school in Independence, Kansas in 1925. On December 25, 1927 he married Mildred Jones. He farmed for several years then worked at a nursery, an alfalfa mill and in the oil fields before moving his family to Alaska in 1957, where he worked at an Army base and later for the Anchorage school district. He retired from the school board of Lone Star School in Spenard, Alaska, in 1972. In 1994, he moved back to Kansas, Mildred died in 1999.
He married Anne Burdick on February 18, 2000. He is a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He and Anne loved to travel and did so well into Edward’s late nineties. He loved to drive and also did this into his one-hundreds.
He is survived by his wife Anne, of the home, children; Clarence and wife Gladis Stanley, Richard and wife Bobbie Stanley, all of Anchorage, Alaska,; Ronald and wife Margaret Stanley of Seldomta, Alaska; Daniel and wife Barbara Stanley of Palmer, Alaska; Joan Burlile and husband Jim of Squim, Washington; and Deloures Winkleman. His stepchildren, Russell Burdick, David and Judy Burdick, Ronnie and Cris King, Ivan and Donna Burdick, Carol Mustang, Dorothy and Art Staggs, Roberta and Bill Hughes, Sharon and Homer Christy, Gary and Connie Burdick, Frank and Pat Burdick and Clinton Burdick. 28 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. |
