WALKUP - F.G. Walkup, 43 years old of 2003 (the address is no longer there now) E. Newton, (two words unreadable), died Monday night in a Tulsa hospital. The body is at the Mowbray Undertaking Co. parlors awaiting completion of funeral plans.
He died while his son was on his honeymoon. They had to cut it short and come home.

WALKUP - F.G. Walkup, age 43 years of 2003 E. Newton, died in a local hopital Monday night. The funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoonat 4 o'clock. Mowbray's chapel, Rev.W.A. STEELE of the Memorial Christian church officiating.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Willie W. Walkup; one son Harold; two daughters Margaret and Adine, all of the home address; his mother, Mrs. F. M. WATSON of Little Rock, Arkansas; two brothers Clyde Watson of Tulsa and Ed Watson of Little Rock, Arkansas; two sisters Mrs. William ROWE and Mrs. Edna PARKER both of Little Rock, Arkansas.
Interment at Memorial Park under the direction of the Mowbray Undertaking Company.

El Paso, Texas, April 7 AP
Frank GLENNAN, 25 years old, Tulsa, Oklahoma, was killed in an airplane crash in Mexico 28 miles south of Fabens, Texas, late Friday.
The possibility that another person was in the plane but jumped to safety was seen in the fact that the safety belt in the pilot's seat was unbuckled. GLENNAN'S body was in the mechanic's seat. Papers found on the body revealed that GLENNAN was employed by Erle P. HALLIBURTON of Duncan, Oklahoma.
The body was taken to Guadalupe, Mexico. Airport and hotel records here indicated GLENNAN left Friday morning, supposedly for Glendale, California.

Pilot Was Taking Ship To Owner On Pacific
Duncan, April 7 AP
Erle P. HALLIBURTON, Duncan oil man, said Saturday that Frank GLENNAN, killed Friday in an airplane crash near Guadalupe, Mexico, was his pilot and that he was returning a borrowed ship from Duncan to Glendale, California.
GLENNAN left Duncan Thursday and spent the night in El Paso, taking off from there Friday morning, his employer said. He had expected to reach Glendale, where his wife and two children live, last night.
HALLIBURTON was puzzled by the location of the crash, which he understood was southeast of El Paso and off the pilot's course. As far as he knew, GLENNAN was alone in the plane. He said GLENNAN had been flying for him several years and previously was employed as a pilot by an airline then owned by the oil man.

Ship Was Built For Ann Harding, Actress

The airplane which crashed in Mexico, south of Fabens, Texas, carrying Frank GLENNAN to his death, had been borrowed by Erle P. HALLIBURTON, wealthy oil man, here several days ago. E. C. GENEREAUX, pilot for Thomas R. DEMPSEY, Los Angeles attorney, said HALLIBURTON had borrowed the ship, which originally had been built for Ann HARDING, screen actress, and that HALLIBURTON was to have returned here Saturday.

Louis A. O'Rourke Sr.,35----PFC US ARMY,WW I, born, 08/25/1897, passed away Friday morning,03/17/1933 as a result of an auto/train collision in Tulsa.
He is survived by his wife,Belva E. O'Rourke,6 small children: Louis A. Jr.,John E.,Robert R.,James C.,Thomas J.,Ruth A., and twins soon to be born.
He was preceded in death by son,Patrick T. who died in infancy, and a daughter,Rose M. Miller.
The funeral will be held at an undesignated hour Monday morning from Immaculate Conception Church;to be announced later by Stanley&McCune funeral home.

Mrs. Roberts Services Set
Tulsan of Early Days has 110 Descendants
Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Josephine ROBERTS, 93, of 1727 S. Delaware Ave., who had 110 descendants, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Tulsa-Whisenhunt funeral chapel. Mrs. ROBERTS died Wednesday night at her home where she had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Hiram CENTER, since January.
A native of Arkansas, Mrs. Roberts first came to Tulsa from Bolivar, Tenn., in 1916, later moving to Los Angeles, California after the death of her husband, Richard M. ROBERTS, in 1924. Her Husband worked for the Oklahoma Iron Works here.
Mrs. ROBERTS was a member of Immanuel Baptist church.
Survivors also include three other daughters, Mrs. R.R. SMITH, 3636 Louisville Ave., Mrs. Minnie POPE, 719 N. Yorktown Ave., and Mrs. Morris GENTRY, Shawnee; five sons, Thomas F. ROBERTS, 554 S. Zunis Ave., Marvin ROBERTS, Avery, and W.D. and W.B. ROBERTS, Los Angeles, a brother Charles F. DEARING, Oklahoma City; 32 grand children, 64 great-grand children and five great-great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery.

ED ROMINE SERVICE SET AT KELLYVILLE
Kellyville - June 1 -Funeral services for Ed Romine, 72, retired farmer, will be held at 2.30p Sunday in the Pentecostal Holiness church here.
Mr. Romine had lived here since 1910, died Thursday of a heart attack. He was a native of Maryville, TN.
Survivors include the widow, Ollie PITTMAN Romine; six sons, Walter, Floyd and Joe of Sapulpa; Clyde of Los Angeles, CA; Jack of Red Ford; and Bob of the home. Five daughters, Mrs. George PIERCE, Campbell, CA; Mrs. Robert PARKER, Sapulpa; Mrs. Bill HURST, Fort Worth, TX; Mrs. Riley LONG, Kellyville; and Mrs. Lawrence BOLIN, Selma, CA. Five step-sons - Edward, Leroy, Ray, Gail and Bobby Pittman. Mrs. Mary WOODSON, Black Rock, AR; Mrs. Maybell HIETT, Sapulpa. Six brothers, Jack, Lester and Bill of Kellyville; Carl, Campbell, CA; Lee, Grants Pass, OR, and Harve, Houston, TX. A sister, Mrs. Lola MCMAHAN, Kellyville.
Interment will be in the Kellyville cemetery under direction of the Owen Funeral Home.

Gun Victim's Rites Saturday at Sapulpa
Sapulpa, June 6 - Services for Joe Clifton ROMINE, 26, of Enid, former Sapulpan, will be held at 3pm Saturday in the Owen Funeral Chapel here. Mr. Romine apparently was killed accidently while hunting.
Born at Kellyville, Mr. Romine was employed at Enid, Vance Air Force base. He was a Navy veteran.
Survivors include the widow, Doris; four brothers, Jack Romine, Floyd Romine, Sapulpa; Bob Romine, Rogers, AR; and four sisters, Mrs. Opal LONG, Kellyville; Mrs. Elva PARKER, Sapulpa; Mrs. Nora HURST, Hurst, TX; and Mrs. Ora BOYLON (correct spelling is BOLIN), Selma, CA; a half-brother, Walter Romine of Sapulpa and a half-sister, Mrs. Maude PIERCE, Campbell, CA.
Interment will be in South Heights cemetery here.

WRIGHT
Arrangements are pending for Newport H. WRIGHT, 65, a Tulsan since 1941. He died Tuesday in a Tulsa hospital after suffering a heart attack Oct. 22. A retired spot welder for the Spartan Aircraft Co., WRIGHT had worked the past 18 months as a salesman for the American Security Life Insurance Co.
Born in McIntosh County, he lived in Okmulgee 21 years before coming here.
He was a member of the Lewis Avenue Assembly of God Church, and a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his widow, Agnes (now deceased); three daughters, Mrs. Dudley (Noroita D. WRIGHT) CRESS (now deceased), 3225 E. Tecumseh St.; Mrs. Charles (Lyda C. WRIGHT) KIMBRELL, Hampton, Va.; and Mrs. Harold JONES (now deceased), Odessa, Tex.; his mother, Mrs. Alice WRIGHT (now deceased), Okmulgee; five sisters (all now deceased): Mrs. Jess WISELY (Gussie WRIGHT); Mrs. Earl TIMMONS (Ina Marie WRIGHT), Mrs. Bonnie WRIGHT HIGGS, and Mrs. Emma WRIGHT SKIDMORE; and Mrs. Jimmy (Anna E. Half a Run
The story behind the most amazing baseball score of all time

Whoever coined the name "The Amazin' Mets" for New York's current National League baseball team may have been a smart publicity man, but he wasn't much of an expert on "amazin'". Because long before Ron Swoboda or even Warren Spahn was born—only two years, in fact, after ageless, peerless Casey Stengel greeted the world—the most amazin' baseball score of all time was entered in the record books, and there wasn't a Met in sight.
It was not only unique in baseball history—it lead to one of the most surprising reunions that ever took place. But that's getting ahead of my story.
The year was 1893; the place, Allentown, Pennsylvania. Tim Hurst, the famous umpire of those days, was back of the plate, and the three players we are most concerned with are Mat "Matches" Kilroy and Mike "King" Kelly of the Cincinnati team and "Wild Bill" Setley of the opposition. Kilroy started it all in the last of the 11th, score tied 2–2 and one man out, by making the second out—and breaking his bat. It was the only bat they had! Kelly, the Cincinnati star and manager, was up next, but umpire Hurst was about to call the game on account of no bat. Kelly thought otherwise.
He raced to a woodpile near the field and came back swinging a long axe in both burly fists. "That's not a bat!" Hurst ruled. "There's nothing in the rules," Kelly protested, "that says it ain't. If I wanna hit with it, I can."
Sure enough, there was nothing in the rules about it, and Hurst was forced to let Kelly take his place in the batter's box.
First pitch—strike one. Kelly glowered and swished the axe.
Second pitch—strike two. Kelly glowered again, and considered taking the axe-head off the handle, maybe it made the whole thing too heavy. But he decided the clunk of metal would drive the ball a mile if he ever did connect, so he left it on.
Next pitch—and this one Kelly hit, a crashing long fly out to the fence. Halfway there, an amazing thing happened. Gashed by the axe, the ball split in two!
Half of it flew over the fence for a home run—or was it? The other half landed in front of outfielder Setley, who picked it up and hurled it back in. Kelly, running like a thief, raced it to the plate (somebody in the crowd hollered, "Slide, Kelly, slide"—and that's the origin of that immortal baseball phrase). But the ball got there first, and Kelly was out—or was he?
A long and stormy battle followed, with umpire Hurst in the middle. Which half of the ball counted—the half that went over the fence or the half that beat Kelly home for the third out? Hurst finally compromised. He called it half a run and half an out. And that's the story behind the most amazing final score in all baseball history—2½ to 2.

Now about that reunion. Forty-four years after the game, in 1937, I located Wild Bill Setley, then living in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and interviewed him on the radio, reliving the memory of that fantastic game. And little more than a year after that, a young fellow and his wife* were driving through Canada, headed West, when they stopped to help a trailer stuck in the mud. After the trailer was freed, thanks were given and introductions exchanged. The rescuer's name, it turned out, was Harold Setley. "Setley"? said the trailer driver. "I heard a radio program about an old-time ball-player named Setley not so long ago. From Oklahoma, I think he said. You any relative of his?" "I doubt it," said Harold, "My dad died when I was 2, they tell me, and I've got no brothers. Might be an uncle or cousin, though." "We're going West anyway," his wife suggested. "Why don't we go by way of Oklahoma ..."
So the young Setleys did. At every Oklahoma town they passed, they looked in the phone book, but no Setley was listed. Till they came to Tulsa—there it was, William Warren Setley. They telephoned his home and when he heard their story, he came running to meet them—"on the courthouse steps," he told me afterwards. It turned out (you've probably guessed it) that Wild Bill was Harold's father! He'd separated from his wife when the boy was only two years old—and 40 years had elapsed without either knowing the other was alive!
Naturally, we had to have a second radio show to tell a coast-to-coast audience the new ending to the story.
Casey Stengel, as I've said, was only 2 at the time of the game. He'll celebrate his 74th birthday in a couple of weeks, on July 30. Between now and then, perhaps the Amazin' Mets can come up with something as amazing as that 2½ to 2 score, and its amazing aftermath—but I doubt it.
