M.M. BURNETT, Street commissioner of Stratford died while subervising the construction of the new bridge. He was loading lumber and he just dropped dead.

Bert Wright Rites Held
Services for Albert Andrew "Bert" WRIGHT, 78, were at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Ray Sikes assisted by the Rev. Carl Shivers, officiated. Burial was in the Hart Cemetery.
Mr. WRIGHT died Tuesday, July 24, in a Pauls Valley Hospital.
He was born March 8, 1901 in Hart and lived in this area most of his life.
He married Ida FORTNER in Ada in 1930. He was a retired farmer and member of First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ida, of the home, two sons, Carl WRIGHT, Lawton, and Harold WRIGHT, Springfield,, MO; a brother, Charlie WRIGHT, Stratford; sin sister, Lannie BASS, Eva STEVENS,  Nellie THOMPSON, Alice ROBERTSON, and Ora WILLIS, all of Stratford, and Ida BASS of Houston; several grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Pickard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Note: Bert was the son of Andrew Jackson WRIGHT.

Willie Pearl WILLIAMS Rites Held
Services for Willie Pearl WILLIAMS were at 2 p.m. Friday in the Church of Christ. Cole Tidwell officisted, assisted by Bill Oden. Burial was in Corley Cemetery.
Mrs. WILLIAMS died Tuesday, July 24, in a Stratford nursing home. she was 73.
She was born June 11, 1906 in Stratford and had lived here all her life.
She married Arthur WILLIAMS in Stratford  in 1924. He proceded her in death in 1973. She was a member of the church of Christ.
Pickard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Bertle SHERRELL Rites
Services for Bertle CRADDUCK SHERRELL, 76, Rt. 2, Stonewall were Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Fittstown Baptist Church. Mrs. SHERRELL is the sister of Doris JUMPER, Stratford. Mrs. SHERRELL died Saturday, July 28 at her home.
Mrs. SHERRELL spent her entire life in Pontotoc county. She was born Feb. 6, 1903 at Franks, Indian Territory and married Rober Troy SHERRELL in Ada in 1923. He proceded her in death.

Grady DABBS Rites Held
Funeral services for Grady DABBS, 76, were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Pickard Funeral Home. He died July 30.
He was born January 25, 1903 in Dallas, Texas, and was a retired farmer.
He was married to Beulah LITTLE in Tecumseh on May 20, 1924.
Mr. DABBS was a veteran of WWII, and was a member of the American Legion.
Burial was in McGee Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home.

Services  For STEVENS
Services for Eva Belle WRIGHT STEVENS, 85, Stratford, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of Christ.
Cole Tidwell conducted the rites with Bill Hones assisting. Burial was in the Hart Cemetery.
Mrs. STEVENS died Monday in a Sulphur hospital.
She was born Feb. 20, 1895 in Missouri and moved to Stratford 25 years ago.
She was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ.
In May 1912 she and William Roff STEVENS married in Hart, Oklahoma.
Surviviors include one daughter, Catherine; one son, Clyde; five sisters, Lania BASS, Nellie THOMPSON, Alice ROBERTSON and Ora WILLIS, all of Stratford and Ida BASS of Houston, Texas.
Services were under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home.
Note: Eva was the daughter of Andrew Jackson WRIGHT.


February 23, 1984

Rose Ann DODDS, age 90, died February 9th in a Sulphur hospital, She was born Feb.21, 1893 in Stratford, I.T.

BURNETT
Services for Maggie Lena BURNETT, 92, who died Feb. 7, burial at the McGee Cemetery.
She was born March 30, 1891 in the Byford community, I.T. In 1907 she married M.M. BURNETT, who died in 1941.
She is survived by five daughters, Madine ENDICOTT;  Leona WATTS; Ruth SHI; Marie CLARK; Carolyn EYLER: Three sons, Madison Monroe BURNETT; Joel BURNETT; James BURNETT: One sister, Ethel LEMONS. 25 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
Pichard Funeral Home in charge.


August 7, 1986

McALISTER
Services for Nora Lee McALISTER, 92, were at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Stratford Church of Christ, Dill Ballard conducting the rites. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. McALISTER died July 29 in a Pauls Valley hospital. She was born Oct. 20, 1893 in Oklahoma Indian Territory to Perry and Sarah MORRIS ELMORE.
She had lived in Statford most of her life.
She married Neely Franklin McALISTER on Sept. 11, 1911.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Statford Flower Garden Club.
Pickard Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

WILLIS
Funeral services for Ora Lavina WILLIS, 79, were Monday 10:00 a.m. at Pickard Funeral home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Ingram conducting the rites. Burial was in Hart Cemetery.
She died Friday, August 1 at a Pauls Valley hospital.
She was born Dec. 18, 1906 in Pontotoc County and lived all her life in Stratford.
She married Havel WILLIS in July 1944 in Pontotoc County. He died July 28, 1956.
Survivors include two daughters; one son; two sisters, Alice ROBERTSON and Lania BASS, both of Stratford; and four grandchildren.
Note: Ora was the daughter of  Andrew Jackson WRIGHT.

FREEMAN
Services for the Rev. Claud FREEMAN, 59, were at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Budley, assisted by the Rev. Harold Robertson, conducting the rites. Burial was in McGee cemetery.
He died Saturday at an Ada hospital.
He was born Oct. 10, 1926 in Stratford and had lived in this area all his life. A minister, he had pastored many area churches. he had retired from the Stratford Fire Department.
He married Bernadean BALLARD on June 15, 1945 in Stratford.
Pickard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


THOMAS
Jan 15.1923  July 26,1988

Funeral services for Gearold William(G.W) Thomas, 65 of Stratford, who died Tuesday, July 26,1988 in Las Vegas , Nevada., will be held Saturday , July 30, at the Church of Christ in Stratford. Burial will be in McGee Cemetery, under the direction of Picard Funeral Home.
Mr. Thomas moved to Stratford six and one-half years ago from California. He was a truck driver and a horse trainer. He married Freda Steward Aug 1,1941 in Riverside , Calif. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in Northern France, Central Europe and Rhineland. He recieved a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, European, African and Middle Eastern Campaign medials and the Distinguished Unit Medal and fought in the battle of the Bulge.
He was preceded in death by one son, Billy Thomas in 1958.
Surviving are is wife Freda Thomas of the home, three daughters, Beverly June Gamble, Barbara Joyce Thomas and Deanna Lynne Thomas, all of Stratford. Two sons, Terry Gean Thomas, of Roff and Robert Larry Thomas of Stratford, three brothers, Dean Thomas, of Bigg's , Calif. Paul Thomas, of Norco , Calif., and Joe Thomas, of Garden Grove , Calif., four sisters, Wilma Seville, of Fullerton, Calif., Lena Cornelson, Wanda Bennett and Shirley Dunn, all of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and six grandchildren.

Alice ROBERTSON
Funeral services for Alice Eve ROBERTSON, 87, Stratford, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in the Church of Christ, Stratford. Bill Jones officiated.
Interment was in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home.
ROBERTSON was born September 18, 1904 in Hart and passed away March 22, 1992 in Stratford Nursing Center.
ROBERTSON lived most of her early life and the past 30 years in Stratford. She and her husband, M.L. ROBERTSON were married in 1967. He preceded her in death June 4, 1971.
ROBERTSON was a member of the Church of Christ in Stratford.
Note: Alice was the daughter of Andrew Jackson WRIGHT.

MULLINIX
Graveside services for Bertha MULLINIX, 87, Stratford, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 24 in the Carmen City Cemetery, Carmen. Rev. Tom Ison officiated.
MULLINIX was born October 29, 1904 in Woods County and passed away March 21, 1992 in Pauls Valley Health Care Facility.
MULLINIX came from Oklahoma City to the Walker Community on 1941 and then moved to Stratford in December 1971. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. MULLINIX on March 17, 1981 and one sister, Ruby GING in 1972.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stratford.
Services are under the direction of Stufflebean Funeral Home.
