Emma Foster

Shawnee resident Emma "Granny" Foster, 96, died Wednesday, June 14, at Unity Hospital.
Emma was born Feb. 6, 1910, in Konawa to William Cummings and Mary Pilot-Cummings.

In 1945 she married Aaron Foster. He preceded her in death in 1965.

Emma worked for Douglas Aircraft during the war.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Pauline Wallace, Mary Lou West and Rosie Brown; son-in-law, Robert L. West; sisters, Susie Factor and Bertha Sherwood; brother, Roger Cummings.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Donald Wood of Shawnee, Juanita and Jeffie Factor of Seminole and May West and William Howell of Tee; son, Robert West Jr. of Seminole; brothers, Andrew Douglas of Shawnee, O.B. Douglas of Wewoka and B.T. Douglas of Maud; sisters, Lillie B. Harjo of Kansas and Corene White of Shawnee; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today. Wake service will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Wolfe Cemetery. A dinner will be held after services in the Community North Building at the Mission in Seminole.


Odis Moudy

Tecumseh resident Odis Moudy, 74, died Wednesday, June 14, in Norman.
He was born Sept. 10, 1931, in Belleville, Ark., to Barnie A. and Ella (Hays) Moudy.

Odis was born in Arkansas, but has lived in Oklahoma since 1938.

In 1950 he graduated from Tecumseh High School.

He retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He served in Korea and Vietnam as a fireman. He later worked for Allen Bradley, Shawnee, as a production controller and planner.

Odis was a member of the American Legion Post No. 260, VFW Post No. 1317 and the Independent Orde of Odd Fellows.

He enjoyed fishing, traveling and squirrel hunting.

His parents and one brother, Earl Moudy, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Anona Willis of Tecumseh; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Sheila Moudy of Checotah, Norman and Ethel Moudy of McLoud; uncle and spouse, Roy "Tor" and Elva Hays of Tecumseh; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William H. Bentley officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery

Elizabeth Pederson

Chandler resident Elizabeth Pederson, 73, died Friday, June 2, in Oklahoma City.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler with Charles Landon officiating under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.


Lela Irene Gallaway

Meeker resident Lela Irene Gallaway, 97, departed this life on Friday, June 16, in Shawnee.
She was born July 4, 1908, in Meeker to George and Famie (Ramsdall) Ellithorp.

She was married May 18, 1925, to Ernest Marion Gallaway. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1973.

Lela was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores and Hershell King of Meeker, and Rosemary and Louis Brown of Meeker; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Meeker.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Glenn Walters officiating. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Meeker under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Brenda Lee Shelton

Brenda Lee Shelton, 57, went into the loving arms of her Savior on Wednesday, June 14, in Newalla after a long battle with ALS.
She was born Dec. 4, 1948, in Oklahoma City to Aubrey and Leona Tiller.

Brenda grew up in Madill and later moved to Del City where she graduated in 1967.

She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Brenda was always helping others and enjoyed being an LPN at various nursing homes. She was very artistic and loved to play the piano, to paint, to sculpt and to woodcarve as well as spending time gardening with her grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her father, Aubrey Tiller.

Brenda leaves behind her husband, Jerry Shelton of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Knighten and Tiffany Sullivan of Oklahoma City; daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Steve Hall of Edmond; her mother, Leona Tiller of Shawnee; brothers and sisters-in-law Aubrey Jr. and Kathy Tiller of McLoud, Alvin Tiller of Eufaula, Joel and Norma Tiller of Oklahoma City, Timothy Tiller of Texas; grandchildren, Kari Hall, Christopher Hall, Stephanie Knighten, Douglas Knighten, Bailey Knighten, Jacob Knighten, Danielle Frantz, Josie Sullivan and Matt Wise, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Brent Beeson and the staff at the MDA Clinic at Southwest Medical Center, the staff at Mercy Hospice as well as all the staff from Noval Seniorcare, with a special thanks to Demtrius and Nicole for their patience and compassion.

A private family service will be held at Hibbs Funeral Home in Choctaw.

Jasper (Jack) Gene Keel

Shawnee resident Jasper (Jack) Gene Keel, 70, died Friday, June 16, at Unity Hospital.
He was born Sept. 21, 1935, in Gainsville, Texas, to Carson and Fay Mandy Henshaw-Keel.

He graduated from Shawnee High School.

Jack retired from Resthaven Cemetery, Shawnee. He was a maintenance worker for the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company and later the Shawnee Block Plant.

He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Keel is preceded in death by his stepfather and mother, Albert and Fay Waller, and brother-in-law Deloyd Stephens.

Survivors include his sister, Betty Stephens of Hobbs, N.M.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Edna Keel of Dalhart, Texas, Preston and Teresa Keel of Mountain View, Ark., and Albert and Patsy Waller of Shawnee; 14 nephews and nieces.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Gaskill Funeral Chapel.


James Lin Dickenson

Lifelong Shawnee resident James Lin Dickenson, 47, died Friday at his home.
He was born Jan. 3, 1959, in Shawnee to Lonnie and Karen Farris-Dickenson.

Dickenson graduated from Shawnee High School and attended Seminole State College.

He married Christie Ayers Dec. 1, 2000, in Shawnee.

He was a machinist and worked for the Eaton Corp.

Dickenson was a member of Wallace Avenue Baptist Church, the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Department reserve and the Rock Creek Roundup Club.

He enjoyed raising his dogs and being part of the Santa Fe Gun Fighters Club.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Dickenson; grandparents, A.J. and Alice Farris and Lon and Alma Dickenson; mother and father-in-law, Curtis and Lavon Ayers.

Survivors include his wife, Christie Dickenson of the home; four sons, Jason Dickenson, Curt Wilkins, Steven Wilkins and Kevin Wilkins, all of Shawnee; mother, Karen Dickenson of Shawnee; brother, Jerry Dickenson of Shawnee; sister and brother-in-law, Gina and Chris Hurley of Shawnee; two nieces, Stephanie and Rebecca Hurley of Shawnee; and nephew and wife, Daniel and Renee Hurley of Shawnee.

Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Carol Hopper officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Visitation begins at 8 a.m. Monday.


Sharion June Lowe

Prague resident Sharion June Lowe, 58, departed this life in Oklahoma.
She was born July 8, 1947, in Englewood, Colo., the daughter of Cecil J. Betterton and Zora C. (Hamby) Betterton.

On July 9, 1965, she married Gary D. Lowe in Englewood.

They made their home near Prague since September 1977.

Lowe began playing the piano at Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Englewood when she was 12 years old and had served as a church pianist since that time. She was the pianist at Pleasant Home Baptist Church, where she and Gary were members at the time of her death.

Her parents and one granddaughter preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Gary D. Lowe of Prague; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Anna Lowe of Norman; twin daughters and sons-in-law, Jerusha and Todd Loafman of Prague and Georgianna and Anthony Dozier of Prague; sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Ron Wolf of Wimauma, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Pat Betterton of Englewood; and 11 grandchildren.

Service will be 10 a.m. June 20 Tuesday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joshua Greever and the Rev. Chuck Utsler officiating. Burial will follow in Garden Grove Cemetery. Service is under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Terry Wayne Casey

Bugtussle Village resident Terry Wayne Casey, 62, died Friday, June 9, in Oklahoma City.

Funeral services were June 13 at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, McAlester, with Pastor Kris Steele officiating.

Military honors were provided by the Harrison-Powers Post No. 79 of the American Legion following the funeral at Oak Hill Cemetery Pavilion.

He was born April 14, 1944, in Berkeley, Calif., to Olen E. and Edrie L. (Lee) Casey.

Terry graduated from McAlester High School in 1962.

In July, he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in July 1968.

He attended East Central State College, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in art and industrial arts in 1971. He earned his master's degree in trade and industrial education from Oklahoma State University in 1975. His educational skills led him to a teaching position at Choctaw High School in 1972, and he continued teaching at Eastern Oklahoma State College from 1973-1975. In 1975, he was employed by Gordon Cooper Technology Center until 1979. He was a quality control auditor at General Motors Corporation in Oklahoma City until his retirement.

In college, he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity and was later a Mason, as was his father before him.

He was characterized throughout his life as a caring individual and enjoyed entertaining and sharing anecdotes from days gone by. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was considered a master chef by many.

His parents and one brother, Larry Casey, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Vicky and Tommy Busby of Chickasha; three daughters, Tasha Casey of Oklahoma City, Melissa Hilton of Shawnee and Rachele Dakil of Oklahoma City and their mothers, Sydney Casey of Shawnee and T. Anne Dakil of Arlington, Texas; significant other, Judi Smith of McAlester; grandchildren, William Joshua and Josie Mae Hilton of Shawnee; three nieces and one nephew; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and other family and friends.

Terry was an organ donor and his wishes were to be cremated.

Chester A. Grant

Shawnee resident Chester A. Grant, 65, died Sunday, June 18, at his home.
He was born July 20, 1940 to Fred and Amelia (Gokey) Grant in Pawnee, Okla.
He attended Pawnee Indian School and Haskell Institute High School.
Grant married Emelina "Aida" Formanes.
He had 20 years of honorable service, earning the National Defense Service Medal; Navy Expeditionary Medal; Navy Unit Commendation; Combat Action Ribbon; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietman Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit; Citation Civil Actions Color; Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation Gallantry Cross Color and Good Conduct Medal (fourth award).
Grant was stationed at USS John W. Thomason; USS Worden; USS Hoel; USS Wadell; USS Rupertus; Navy Auxiliary Air Station; Chase Field, Beeville, Texas; US Naval Support Activity, Danang, Vietnam; US Naval Advisory Group, Danang, Vietnam; USS O'Brien; US Naval Station, Subic Bay, Philippines; Naval Support Activity, Long Beach, Calif.; and USS Robison.
He was a retired from the U.S. Navy. He was co-founder of Sac and Fox Nation Color Guard and founder of Sac and Fox Chapel committee.
He is preceded in death by his parents; adopted mother, Lorena Mack Wood; one brother, Ulysses Grant; four sisters, Elsie Johnson, Viola Spoon, Frieda Wise and Lorena Ponkilla; three grandchildren, Darrien Blanchard, Mikayla Little, and Caleb Hunter Little.
Survivors include his wife, Emelina "Aida" Grant of the home; son, Frederick Grant of the home; four adopted sons and one daughter-in-law, Edward and Tammy Wood, Eric, Kenneth and Stephen Wood; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Jeannersosa and Richard Lay of Seminole, Elsie and Ben Little of Shawnee, Christina and Jon Smith of Panama City, Fla., and Marie Grant of the home; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerome and Mary Ann Grant, and H.D. and Katie Wood; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Christine and Lawrence Rolette, Elizabeth Exendine, Pat Wood; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wake service will be 7 p.m. today at Sallateeska Baptist Church.
Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sallateeska Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Wilson, the Rev. Tom Morris and the Rev. Ike Shade officiating. Burial will follow at Wakolee Cemetery.

Dessie Lorene Wilkins

Shawnee resident Dessie Lorene Wilkins, 87, died Saturday, June 17, at her home.
She was born March 6, 1919 to Arvo L. and Elsie Worstell in Asher.
Wilkins was a 1958 LPN graduate of City Hospital in Shawnee. She was a certified lab technician.
On Feb. 5, 1939 she married Alfred Vernon Wilkins.
She was a member of Westgate Freewill Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death are her parents; sister, Margie Moreland; two infant children; on great-grandson, Colton Criess.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred Wilkins of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Anneta and Milton Hunt of Davis, Charlotte Kelly of Shawnee, and Linda and J.C. Farrand of Shawnee; grandchildren, Lisa and David Littrell of Edmond, Steve and Cindy Hunt of Broken Arrow, Holly Moore of Shawnee, Kristi and Chuck Criess of Bartlesville, Carri Farrand of Washington, DC, and Clint and Dresden Farrand of Columbia, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Spencer Hunt, Baylee Hunt, Taylor Moore, Brittni and Dylan Criess; one great-grandson, Brecken Reid Hunt; one brother and sister-in-law, Doyle and Jane Worstell of Ponca City; two nieces; and many other relatives.

Linda Kathryn Herron Coley

Earlsboro resident Linda Kathryn Herron Coley, 57, died Sunday, June 18, in Shawnee
She was born Feb. 2, 1949, in Prague to Bill & Pearl Herron.
She attended Earlsboro schools.
Linda was married to Terry L. Coley for 35 years.
She was a clerk.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Survivors include her husband Terry Coley; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Georgia Herron, and Dean and Barbara Herron; three children, Marc, Billy Coley, and Daunie and his wife, Laura Coley; three grandchildren, Shelby, Samantha and Jakeb Coley; mother-in-law, Wanda Nolan; brothers-in-law, Robert Nolan and Mark Mylar; numerous other family and friends.

Mary Frances Staff

Shawnee resident Mary Frances Staff, 64, died Sunday, June 18, in Shawnee.
She was born May 4, 1942, in Atlanta, Texas, to Francis H. and Mary Lee (Edmondson) Mauney.
Mary moved to Seminole in 1944. Following her marriage, she moved to Tecumseh and raised her six children. She has lived in the Tecumseh and Shawnee areas since.
She attended school in Seminole.
Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Order of Eastern Star-Tecumseh Lodge.
She enjoyed fishing with her family and camping at Arbuckle Lake. She also enjoyed games and family fellowship.
Her parents and brother, Robert Mauney, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her four sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Tina Hartman of Shawnee, Tony and Cindy Harman of Ardmore, Kevin and Elizabeth Staff of Tecumseh, Kenneth Staff of Stillwater; two daughters, Kelly Hartman of Henryetta, Marilyn Staff of Stillwater; two sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret Ford of Seminole, Doris and Larry Floyd of Shawnee; grandchildren, Chad, Katelyn, Jodie, Jessica, Ronnie, Warren and Stormy.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Brother Charlie Clem officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery.


Jack Charles Cumins

Whitney, Texas, resident Jack Charles Cumins, 73, died Monday, June 19 in Whitney.
He was born Oct. 25, 1932 to Buford Franklin and Bertha Sunshine (McKean) Cumins in Tecumseh.
Cumins was born and raised in Tecumseh and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1952.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the 6th Infantry Division and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
After his military service he lived in Tecumseh for several years before moving to Whitney, Texas, in 1979 where he lived for 14 years. He later moved to Konawa for many years and then moved back to Whitney, Texas, in 2003.
Cumins was a truck driver for most of his life and had worked as a ticket taker at the Hornbeck Theater when he was younger.
He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Sunshine Cumins; brother, Buford F. Cumins; and sister, Lorene Parker.
Survivors include three daughters, Holley Amber Burton, Robin Hope Cumins, both of Whitney, Texas, and Glenda Yvonne Fox of Dallas, Texas; son, Jack Mark Cumins of Seminole; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Tom Cumins of Whitney, Texas.
Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Ricky Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.


Ernest L. Johnson

Shawnee resident Ernest L. Johnson, 98, died Sunday, June 18, at Unity Health Center.
He was born Sept. 25, 1907, in Vernon, Texas.
Johnson married Vesta Ann Setzer. She preceded him in death.
He was a self-employed construction worker.
Preceding him in death are his parents, wife, three brothers, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and a niece.
He is survived by his niece, Yuavonda Sperry of Shawnee; nephew, Darrin LaViness of Oklahoma City; and other family and friends.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park with Dwyane Dennis officiating.

Macomb resident Cary Martin Warrick, 81, died Monday, June 19, in Norman.
Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First Church of the Nazarene with Johnny Stephens officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories, Waterloo, Iowa.


D.J. Dye

Seminole resident D.J. "Bud" Dye, 77, died Sunday, June 18 at his home.
Service will be 2 p.m. today at Immanuel Fellowship Church, (formerly known as Tri-City Christian Center) North of Seminole State College on highway 3. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery, 8 miles North of Seminole on highway 377, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Martha Kay Sherwood

Longtime Tecumseh resident Martha Kay "Gussy" Sherwood, 50, died Tuesday, June 20, at Carl Albert Hospital, Ada.
She was born Aug. 31, 1955, to Albert and Bertha (Douglas) Sherwood in Seminole.
Sherwood was a healthcare provider for several years at Shawnee Care Center.
She was a graduate of Tecumseh High School.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Shirley Cully and Ruby Biaze; and brother, Roger Cully.
Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Vickie Sherwood of Shawnee, and Dwayne and Barbara Culley of Newalla; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pall bearers are John Coker, Dustin Sherwood, P.J. Houck, Edward Sherwood, Esteban Perez and Phillip Cully; honorary pall bearers are Nathan Loper and Ed Sherwood.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, with the Rev. Joseph Factor officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Ernest Pershing Way

Prague resident Ernest Pershing Way, 88, departed this life on Wednesday, June 21, at his home in Prague.
He was born June 7, 1918, in Prague to John Aaron and Daisy Allen (Simmons) Way.
Ernest attended Pleasant Valley School for three years and then attended Prague Schools, he graduated in 1936. He earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from The University of Oklahoma in 1940. With his Army ROTC background, Ernest was commissioned at graduation as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He served at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Colorado; Camp Riley in Minnesota; ended his active duty career as a captain at Fort Francis E. Warren in Cheyenne, Wyo.; and was discharged from the reserves as a major.
On March 4, 1944, he married Margaret Belle Siebert in Cheyenne, Wyo. Ernest and Margaret made their home in Prague where he worked as a roughneck, tool pusher, pumper and production superintendent for several independent oil companies. He also engaged in farming and ranching on land that has been in the family since the early 1900's.
His parents; brothers, John Aaron Jr. and David Woodrow; sisters, Anna Mae and Lucille Ethel, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Margaret of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert "Bob" and Joni Way of Louisville, Ky., and Richard "Rick" and Ann Way of Norman; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Mark Stubsten of Fairview, and Sharon and George Burns of Vici; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Prague, with the Rev. Sharon Capron officiating. Burial will follow at Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Phyllis Louise Darby

Longtime Shawnee resident Phyllis Louise Darby, 78, died Wednesday, June 21, in Shawnee.
She was born July 4, 1927 to Amos Charles and Nora (Ozbirn) Bruner.
Phyllis was affiliated with the Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed very much by family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan R. Richmond; and brothers, Victor Duncan and Robert Duncan.

Mildred Juanita States

Prague resident Mildred Juanita States, 80, passed away Wednesday, June 21.
She was born to Roy and Ethel States on Oct. 10, 1925, and lived most of her life in the Garden Grove community.
Mildred received her degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and retired from Tinker Air Force Base as a management specialist.
She possessed a vision for interior/exterior design and had one of the most beautiful yards anywhere. She loved owning swans, peafowl, ducks, lovebirds, parakeets and especially her little miniature pinschers.
Mildred leaves behind her sisters, Muriel Mlynek of Prague, and June Smith of Choctaw; brothers, T.R. States of Jonesboro, Ark., Bill States and Alan States, both of Prague, and Ed States of Shawnee; nieces; nephews; cousins; friends; her Shawnee Christian Church family; and special friends, Carla Whitehurst and Ophia Appl.
Memoial service will be 10 a.m. today at Shawnee Christian Church, 37651 45th St. Burial will follow at Garden Grove Cemetery. Viewing will be in the Hibbs Funeral Home, 2190 N Harper Road, Choctaw.

Shawnee resident Ozell Patricia "Pat" Stuckey, 70, died Thursday, June 22, in Meeker.
She was born June 25, 1935 to Thurman Jackson and O.Z. (Brantley) Jones in Fittstown, Okla.
Stuckey retired from Tinker Air Force Base after 21 years of service in the B-52/Missiles System Program Management Division.
She was a member of Northeast Free Will Baptist Church.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Earnest E. Stuckey; three children and their spouses, Patsy and Ronald Snowden of McLoud, Earnest Eugene and Annette Stuckey II of Oklahoma City, Willean and Byron White of Meeker; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers and their spouses, Corky Jones of Chandler, Autry of Yasuko Jones of Chandler, Timothy and Kate Jones of Aubry, Texas; two sisters, Joy Sheppard of Palmdale, Calif. and June Jenkins of Wetumka.

Former Shawnee resident George W. Cronister, 84, died Monday, June 19. He also lived in Harjo, Tishomingo and Dallas.
He was born Aug. 4, 1921, to August and Effie Chronister.
He was a veteran of World War II, both arenas.
Cronister was a machinist by trade and owned and operated Day and Night Water Well Pump in Shawnee.
He loved to fish, travel, read, make clocks and collect movies.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Zola Chronister; parents, August and Effie Chronister; and brother, Leroy Chronister.

Margaret Critz Bollman

Former Shawnee resident Margaret Critz Bollman died Wednesday, June 21, in Midland, Texas. She was 94.

She was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Shawnee to John W. Critz Sr. and Lillie (Stepzinski) Critz. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1929 and graduated cum laude in 1933 from Oklahoma Baptist University with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. She also attended the University of Oklahoma and was a graduate student at Oklahoma State University. In 1965, she received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from OBU.
She married Bernhard F. "Bernie" Bollman on June 1, 1935, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. They were owners of Sunshine Grocery until Jan. 1, 1959. She taught for two years at at St. Benedict's Grade School and 12 years at Lee Elementary in Shawnee.
After retiring in 1977, she traveled in the United States, Canada, Europe, England, the Holy Land and Egypt.
She was a member of OBU's Orian Club and a second-degree member and officer of Sigma Alpha Iota. She had been a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church since 1922, and was a life member of United Methodist Women, Kappa Kappa Iota, Daughters of the American Revolution, Shawnee Fine Arts Club, Pottawatomie County Retired Educators Association and Oklahoma State Retired Educators Association. She also volunteered for many fund drives of several organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernie; three brothers, Edward H. Critz, Robert Critz and John Walker Critz Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Dwyer of Midland, Texas; grandchildren, Marlynn LaGreca and her husband, Kenny, of Evergreen, Colo.; Shauna Gordon and her husband, Steve, of Kermit, Texas; Missy Dwyer of Midland, Texas; Tom Verne Dwyer II and his wife, Eileen, of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Stephen, David and Michelle LaGreca of Evergreen, Colo.; Jennifer Benson and her husband, Paul, of Midland, Texas; Lucas and Steve Gordon Jr. of Kermit, Texas, and Nikki Dwyer of Midland, Texas; one great-great-grandchild, Connor Benson of Midland, Texas; a sister, Elsie Fry of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Myra Critz of Tulsa, and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lois Elaine Hazel Thomas

On June 24, 2006, God took Lois Elaine Hazel Thomas home with Him. Lois Elaine was 77 years young when she passed. Married to Gary Lee Thomas on April 17, 1994, they enjoyed their life in Fairfield Bay, Ark.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, President of the Auxiliary Oklahoma City Lions Club, a member of the Toast Masters Club, a participant of the Little Theater, and one of the four founders of BERL Industries, the creator of the board game Aggravation .
The daughter of Minnie May and Hilton Clay Hazel of Monroe, La., Lois Elaine was born on Aug. 11, 1928, as the second child of four chidren.
Her death was preceded by two sisters, Sarah Hattie Delgado and Joyce Anita Grayson; and two husbands, Rudolph Clement Malchar, the father of her children, and Robert C. O'Kelley.
She is survied by her husband, Gary Lee Thomas; her brother, Hilton C. Hazel Jr; five children including Sharon Elaine and Mitchell Easley of Plano, Texas, Pamela Kathryn and Sid Stell of Norman, Randolph Leon and LeDawn Malchar of Shawnee, Kathleen Suzanne and Charles Laster of Shawnee, and Martha Jenice O'Kelley of Batesville, Ark.; 15 grandchildren, including Haley Malchar Smith, Kala Malchar Whiddon, Austin Malchar, Amy Isenhower, Bradley Jacobs, Kara Kathleen Laster and Charles Luke Laster; and 15 great-grandchildren.
During her amazing life, she always found time for all. She will live forever in the hearts of those who loved her and had the pleasure of enjoying her love and zest for life.
Visitation will be at the Olmstead Woodland Chapel today from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Woodland Memorial Park under the direction of Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.


James Wesley "Jim" Glover

Tecumseh resident James Wesley "Jim" Glover, 70, died Saturday, June 24, in Shawnee.
He was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Macomb to Paul Raymond and Minnie Irene (Ballard) Glover. In 1944 he moved to Bethel, lived in California for 10 years, and later returned to the Bethel area in 1967.
Jim attended school at Progress until 1944, he then attended Bethel schools and graduated Bethel High School in 1953.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955.
On Dec. 21, 1956, he married Sue Massie in Shawnee.
He was a building contractor for more than 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was a longtime member of Carpenters for Christ where he had been involved in the construction of many churches locally and in other countries. He also was a member of the Sam's Club Travel Group.
Jim enjoyed working cattle, farming and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ray Glover.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Glover of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Freddy Wright of Checotah; grandchildren and their spouses, Tara and Matt Vandeberghe of Tecumseh and Aaron and Kristin Wright of Bethel; three great-grandchildren, Dawson and Hayden Vandeberghe and Bryce Wright; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Lovetia Cobb of California, Claudia and Gene Wellman of Bethel, Beatrice and Willie Brooks of Bethel, Geneva Glover of Shawnee, and Genice and Jim Hopkins of Ponca City; sister-in-law, Helen Glover of Shawnee; numerous nieces and nephews.

On April 28, 1973 she married John Brink in Prague.
Her parents, Robert Glen Reid and Lillie Reid, preceded her in death.

Calvin Lee King

Tecumseh resident Calvin Lee King died Saturday, June 24, in Tecumseh at the age of 55.
He was born April 23, 1951, in Fort Sill, Okla., to Jessie Leroy and Lois Beatrice (Andrews) King. He grew up in Walters and also had lived many years in Choctaw. He had resided in the Tecumseh area for the past four months.
On Aug. 17, 1969, he married Pam Williams in Burkburnett, Texas.
He was a plumber and did small engine repair. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His father and his son, Robert Lee King, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Pam King of the home; two daughters, Traci Inman and Candy King, both of Oklahoma City; his mother, Lois B. Andrews of Canadian, Okla; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, James King of Oklahoma City, Gary King of Canadian, and Dale King of Oklahoma City; one sister, Mary Miller of Oklahoma City; numerous other relatives and friends.

F.E. Taber

Shawnee resident F.E. Taber, 95, died Sunday, June 25, in Epworth Villa, Oklahoma City.
He was born Feb. 3, 1911 near Belmont, Okla. to Tim and Cecil Taber.
Taber attended Valley View Grade School and Earlsboro High School.
On Dec. 19, 1931 he and Floy E. Snyder engaged in a secret matrimonial ceremony in Wewoka.
In the early 1930's Taber was a dairy worker and later farmed northeast of Shawnee in the Econtuschka area. He was a grocer in three locations, he retired twice. His final retirement was in 1970.
He was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church; Immanuel Baptist Church since 1955; treasurer at Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church for several years in the late 1940's; and member of Fairview Baptist Church form 1951 to 1955.
Taber was recognized as the leading agent in sales of a new product, Crop Hail Insurance, by the State of Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance in 1951 at the state convention in Oklahoma City.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Floy, on July 4, 2000, and his daughter Margaret Ann Tillery in 1982.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Marcy Taber of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Jeff Taber of Edmond, Steve Taber of Dallas, Texas, Zach Taber of Edmond, Rebecca Tillery of Plano, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Andie, Morgan and Griffin Taber; two brothers, Earl Taber of Edmond and Kenneth Taber of Muskogee; four nephews, Warren, Tim, Greg and Phil Taber; one niece, Elizabeth Taber Jewel; and special caregiver, Ila Hayes.

James Philip Littlefield

Kilbourne, La., resident James Philip Littlefield, 91, died Saturday in Bastrop, Texas, after a lenghthy illness.
A well-respected, retired, West Carroll Parish businessman, Mr. Littlefield was born July 7, 1914, in Adamsville, Tenn., to Neil Bolton and Zella Lucretia Phillips Littlefield. At age 18, his family moved from western Tennessee to the northeastern Lousiana town of Kilbourne in hopes of escaping the throes of the Great Depression.
Soon thereafter he met his soul mate and wife of more than 70 years, Inez Scott Littlefield and were married in 1935. A union that would last over seven decades. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2006.
In the late 1930s, he purchased a service station along Hwy17 and remained in business for more than 35 years. He operated under the Sinclair, City Service, Esso, and Exxon brand names. After a tornado in May 1977 that devastated most of the businesses and churches in Kilbourne, his station remained standing and served as a command center for relief efforts.
The great-great-grandson of Revolutionary War soldier, William Littlefield II, Mr. Littlefield was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II. At age 27, he left his loving wife and three young children for basic training in California and service in the Pacific Theater. He served in the signal corps attached to the U.S. 8th Army and was awarded three battle stars for his service in the battles of Leyte, Luzon, and New Guinea. He was joyfully reunited with his family on Christman Eve 1945.
Mr. Littlefield took special pride in that, through diligent attention to serving his customers, he was able to provide each of his three children with a college education. Even Mrs. Littlefield was able to complete a degree in elementary education in 1962.
In addition to his business, Mr. Littlefield was a former Kilbourne town marshal and West Carroll Parish reserve deputy sheriff for more than two decades. He also served as a member of the first Kilbourne City Council. He was active in the Kilbourne United Methodist Church for decades, serving as chairman of the board, steward, lay leader and as teacher of the Adult Men's Sunday School class. He was a Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge, having received his 50-year membership pin.
Mr. Littlefield also was a significant source and contributor to the recently published "A History of Early Kilbourne, Louisiana."
He also was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leonard Troy Littlefield and Hubert Roy Littlefield of Adamsville, Tenn., Clarence Gerald Littlefield of Oak Grove, La.; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Littlefield Holley.
Survivors include his three children, daughter Mary Pat Littlefield Tharpe and husband, Dwain of Crowville, La.; son, Dr. Robert Philip "Bud" Littlefield and wife, Janie, of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Terry Jane Littlefield Conrad and husband, Marvin of Bastrop, Texas; seven grandchildren, Steven and Connie Tharpe of San Antonio, Texas, Michael and Michelle Tharpe of Kansas City, Mo., Cherie and Mark Anyan of West Monroe, La., Jamie Lynne and Danny Stroud of Fort Worth, Texas, Mark and Jennifer Littlefield of Austin, Texas, Ben and Chrystal Littlefield of Dallas, Texas, and Kelly Shea and Steven Bender of Bastrop, Texas; nine great-grandchildren, Kirstie and Abby Anyan, Michaela Tharpe, Katie, John, Philip, and Taylor Stroud, Grace Littlefield, and Noah and Will Bender; one sister, Mamie Lorie Littlefield Organ of Shreveport, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Texarkana, Texas, resident Opal Lucille Burtchell, 78, died Saturday, June 24, at her daughter's home in Greensboro, N.C.
Service was held Tuesday at the Fuqua-Everett Memorial Chapel with Jerry Monholand officiating.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Little Cemetery in Little, Okla.

Fred Vobornik Jr.

Frederick Edward Vobornik Jr. passed away Saturday, June 24, in Prague at 62 years of age. He was born Feb. 4, 1944, in Prague to Mary Doris (Bradley) and Frederick Vobornik Sr.
He moved to Blackwell at 8 years of age where he graduated high school. He attended Oklahoma State University and worked for many years for Curtis Mathis and for Aaron Rents. He enjoyed playing golf, basketball, card games, and scrabble. He loved new opportunities.
He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Greg Ownby.
Survivors include his mother, Doris Vorbornik of Prague; four children, Heather Lamb of Tulsa, Zachary Vobornik of Stillwater, Frederick "Trey" Vobornik III and Jesse Vobornik, both of Yukon; sister, Marilyn Ownby of Prague; four grandchildren, Brittany, Mackenzie, Andrew and Alexander Lamb; one nephew, Mitch Ownby; and numerous cousins and other family members.
Memorial service was held Tuesday, June 27, in the United Methodist Church in Prague with the Rev. Sharon Capron officiating. Memorials may be made to the Prague United Methodist Church.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.

Brian Wayne McGehee

Prague resident Brian Wayne McGehee, 17, passed away Monday, June 26, in Prague.
Brian was born Sept. 12, 1988, in Ardmore to Frederic Wayne McGehee and Terrie Renee (Smith) Fried.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Terrie and Richard Fried; father and stepmother, Frederic and Karen McGehee; brothers, Thomas McGehee of Seminole, and Christopher Fried of Prague; sister, Lauren Fried of Prague; maternal grandparents, Bob and Suzan Smith of Seminole; paternal grandparents, Richard L. Fried of Prague, Geri Fried of Hoover, Ala., Urulsa and Volker Gebel of Germany.
Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church, Prague with Brother Tim Emmons officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery in Seminole County under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.


Jacqueline Ann Lipe

Longtime Shawnee resident Jacqueline Ann Lipe, 59, died Saturday, June 24, at her home after a long illness.
She was born Feb. 21, 1947 in Fresno, Calif., to Ernest Davis and Wilma Thompson.
On March 19, 1976 she married Mickey G. Lipe.
She was a loving and thoughtful wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, fishing and water skiing. She was especially fond of her two Yorkies, Winston and Ruger.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ernest Davis; son-in-law, Dennis "Dino" Ainesworth; and granddaughter, Laura McGuffee Adcock.
Survivors include her husband, Mickey Lipe of the home; two daughters, Marcie Meeks and her husband, Mark, of Seminole, and Leslie Ainesworth of Shawnee; mother, Wilma Thompson of Oklahoma City; also Ramona Scrutchins and husband, Art; Belinda Hobbs of Shawnee; Mark Lipe and wife, Cheryl of Edmond; Lisa Gillaspy and her husband, Dan of Oklahoma City; Laura Stepp and husband, Kaleb of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Carolyn Rutledge; aunt, Jodie Davis and husband, Al, all of Shawnee; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Art Scrutchins officiating.


Isaiah Edward Lonelodge

Isaiah Edward Lonelodge, 5-month-12-day-old son of William Alan and Susannah (Stacy) Lonelodge, died Monday, June 26, in an Oklahoma City hospital.
He was born Jan. 14, 2006, in Shawnee.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eddie E. and Dorothy Lonelodge and Bill and Barbara Smith, and a cousin, Amy Rochelle Lonelodge.
Survivors include his parents; sister, Jasmine Marie Lonelodge; grandparents, Susan Demo and Charles Lonelodge Sr.; aunts and uncles, Bobby, Tahlia, Charles Jr., Diana and Alice Lonelodge, Jennifer and Jacob Stacy, Christine Talton; cousins, William, Alexis, Michael Charles, Charles III, Alicia, Elizabeth and Kaylana Lonelodge, Aaron and Andrea Talley, Eliana Kaskaske and Azlin Prado; god-grandparents, Tom and Marcia Negahnquet and Claude Totty.
A special thanks to Roy and Cheri Stanzione, Janet Henry, Dr. Sparkman, Dr. Chapman, Dr. Glen Stow and all the nurses and doctors at OU Medical Center.

Betty Jane Marr

Betty Jane Marr, age 73, passed away June 28, 2006, in Shawnee, Okla. She was born December 22, 1932, to J.C. and Cliva Bennett in Crandall, Texas.
On Sept. 7, 1953, Betty married her soul mate, Paul Marr. For 52 years they have been side by side. They were longtime members of The Morning Star Baptist Church in Meeker. They were currently members of the Day Star Baptist in Shawnee. Betty taught Sunday school at various different churches.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind her devoted husband Paul Marr of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Lawton Crownover of Shawnee, and Vicki and Mike Hudoba of Moore; four grandchildren, Amanda Crownover, Jana and husband, Joe Alexander, Andrea and husband, Chris Grove, and Nicole Moore; two great-grandchildren, Evan and Dylan Grove; and friends that will miss her dearly.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Jamison Cemetery in McLoud under the direction of Hibbs Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center in Choctaw.


Claudine Margaret Gregson

Claudine passed away peacefully Monday, June 26, 2006, with her family by her side. She is remembered as a loving wife and a dedicated mom and nana. Before going Home, the family had the opportunity to gather around her bedside, sharing stories, laughter, and tears. Each getting the chance for one last I love you and goodbye.
She was born in Trousdale, Okla, November 21, 1927, where she attended and graduated from high school in Trousdale. There she played on the one-room schoolhouse basketball team. In later years she enjoyed a good game of tennis.
A San Diego resident for 60 years, arriving here when her husband, Gene Gregson, was stationed here in the U.S. Navy. Claudine and Gene celebrated 60 years of marriage this month before she went home to Jesus.
She was a breast cancer and uterine cancer survivor; a fighter until the end. Her grandbabies and great-grandbabies (as she called them) called her Nana. She loved each and every one of them more than imaginable. She taught all what it means to be a family, to raise a family, and to support one another. Her traditions and little says will be carried on.
Other suvivors include daughters and sons-in law, Claudia and Greg Ellis of Valley Center, and Carla and Mike Schuler of Ramona; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Marianne Gregson of Escondido, and Omus and Susie Nelson of Valley Center; grandchildren, Jeanna, Joshua, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Jeremy, Juliette, Jean-Michelle, Lauren, Jessica, Kevin, Elizabeth, Matthew, Kaysie, and Mikey; great-grandchildren, Gregory, Isabella, Kaitie, Jordyn, Abigail, and Joey; sisters, Chriss Mann, Carol Everett of Oklahoma and Jane McAllister of Texas; an aunt-in-law and dear friend, Norma Jean Catlege of Oklahoma.
The family will be holding a private "Celebration of Life" on Sunday, July 2, 2006. Donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 5440 Kearney Mea Road, San Diego, CA 92111.


Edgar A. Williams

Shawnee resident Edgar A. "Ed" Williams, 82, died Wednesday, June 28, at an Oklahoma City hospital of natural causes.
He was born Dec. 29, 1923 in Shawnee to Arthur Frank Williams and Mary Frances (Dickens) Williams.
Ed graduated from Shawnee High School in 1941, the U. S. Air Force Pilot Training School and Dallas School of Mortuary.
On July 14, 1944 he married Ruth Travis at the Post Chapel at Roswell Army Airfield.
He enlisted in the Aviation Cadets for pilot training in the U.S. Army Air Corps on Dec. 10, 1942; commissioned to 2nd Lieutenant on Jan. 7, 1944.
His career in the military included being stationed in numerous locations in the United States as well as assignments that took him overseas after the war. His job while in the Air Corp included being a troop carrier, a precision bombing instructor and he later joined the Air Force Reserves where he was a troop carrier pilot, where he obtained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retirement.
Williams was also a licensed funeral director and embalmer who spent many years of service for Gaskill Funeral Chapel which started at a very young age. He also had a career with Trans. International Airlines, as a Captain.
He was a life member of First Baptist Church of Shawnee.
Ed's highlights of life were his devoted service to the Lord, his family and his numerous friends. He also enjoyed reloading handgun bullets, hunting and working on the planning committees for the different congregations he was involved with.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Williams of Shawnee; son, Richard Williams and wife, Gail of Yukon; daughter, Donna Hough and husband, Jack of Yukon; grandson, Jack Hough III; five granddaughters, Jaime Hough, Julia Hough, Jennifer Haskins and husband, Gary, Lindsay Bass and husband, Courtney, Megan Williams; three great-grandchildren, Chloe Bass, Cassidy Bass, and Michael Gryta; sister, Mildred Ryser.
Visitation will be today at Gaskill Funeral Chapel.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Shawnee with the Rev. J.C. Farrand and Bob Helmick officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Pauls Valley.
