Services For Aged Resident Are Held Here
Funeral Services for Mrs. Anthony KASTL are held Monday Afternoon at Methodist Church
Lived Here 22 years
Funeral Services for Mrs. Anthony KASTL, a Fairfax resident for more than 22 years, were held on Monday Afternoon at the Methodist Church with the Reverand J. O. Evanson officiated and interment was made in the local cemetery directly following the service. Reverand Evanson made an unusually good talk of convolence at the service and the music was furnised by a man's quartet composed of Bert Cole, Edwin Wollett, Harold Witten, and Elmer Petree.
Mrs. KASTL, who was more than 62 years old had been ill only one week when her death occured on Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock in her home here. On the Sunday preceding her death she suffered a stroke of paralysis which resulted in her death. This was not the first time that Mrs. KASTL has suffered a paralytic stroke, however, but she had apparently entirely recovered froma slight stroke, which she had had several months previous.
Early in her life, Mrs. KASTL became a member of the Methodist Church and has been active in the work of that organization until the last several years, when because of ill health she was forced to discontinue her activities.
Mrs. KASTL was born in Brown County, Kansas on December 15, 1867 and on November of 1883 was married to Anthony KASTL of Topeka, Kansas. For the past twenty-two years, the Kastl's have lived at Fairfax where they have become one of the best known and among the oldest couples living in this community.
The large number of friends associated with the family was evidenced by the unusually large crowd that attended the funeral services.
Mrs. Kastl is survived by her husband, by an aged mother, Mrs. WILLCOX of Ramona and by eight brothers and seven children, including Frank and Jim KASTL and Mrs. H. E. HUNTS of this place and Mrs. O. C. WOODS of Oklahoma City, Charley KASTL of Augusta, Kansas, Mrs. C. L. WYMORE of Shidler and Mrs. J. A. OWENS of Skiatook. All of her children were here at the time of her death except Charley, who was unable to come.
The love and esteem with which Mrs. KASTL was held is evidenced by the following poem which was written by one of her friends:
I've met an elderly woman, since I've been here
Who could always fill me with a sort of good cheer.
She'd come in my room, and sit with me,
And talk of the days that used to be.
She has children, who love her well.
Of Ida and Lou, and others she would often tell.
She used to talk to me and wink,
And say, "Don't tell these others:
About what I think."
Her trail is ended, her life's work is done,
And the Master is softly calling her home.
She will be happy, there to await
For all of you to enter the Golden Gate.
And I'm just as sure as I am there's a sun,
That she'll hear God say "Come in,

Requiem mass was said Saturday morning for Miss Mary LYNN, 49, resident of the Big Bend Community, who passed away at Pawnee Hospital Thursday afternoon. Burial was made int he Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of the Hunsaker funeral service.
Deceased has been a resident of this part of the country for more than 40 years and a resident of the Big Bend community for the last few years. She had been in failing health for the last two months and had undergone a major operation at the Pawnee Hospital, falling to rally from the effects.
Rosary was recited by the members of the Sacred Heart Altar Society, Friday Evening. Father Dennis of Ponca City acting in the absence of Father Achtergael, officiated at the church services Saturday morning which was attended by an unusually large number of friends, both from Fairfax and the Big Bend Community. Large floral pieces were great in number.
The survivors include: one sister, Miss Kate LYNN, and three brothers, Jim LYNN, Bernard LYNN, and Felix LYNN, all of the Big Bend Community.

Anthony KASTL Dies At age 82 years
Anthony KASTL, aged 82 passed away Friday, January 23, 1942 at the Dr. Lipe hospital. He had been in failing health for several months.
Funeral Service was held Monday morning at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:00 o'clock with the Reverend Father Bernard Collins in charge. Interment was in Fairfax Cemetery.
The decedent was born in Wisconsin on February 2, 1859; passed away January 23, 1942 at the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 21 days.
On November 9, 1883 he was united in marriage to Frances Isabel WILCO at Lindon, Kansas. To this union was born nine children, six of whom survive. Mrs. KASTL passed away in 1929.The family moved to Fairfax in 1903 and have lived in this community since.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. H. E. HUNTS, Ralston, Mrs. J. A. OWENS, Skiatook, Mrs. O.E. WOODS, Tulsa, three sons, Frank Kastl, Hominy, James KASTL, Fairfax, C. E. KASTL, Fairfax. Also 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Of the 26 grandchildren, all were here for the funeral except two, Tommy TALLCHIEF who is stationed at Pearl Harbor, Honolulu and Lieutinant Joe OWENS of Skiatook who is at Inglewood, CA and Marvin WYMORE of Albuquerque, N.M.

"Funeral Service Held For Vollie A. Pope"
Vollie Alton POPE, age 54, was found dead at the side of his car on the highway north of Enid last Friday morning. The mysterious circumstance surrounding the case was being investigated and involved three soldiers who were in the car. POPE was an inventory clerk in the materials and traffic department of the Carter Oil Co., and had been working out of Enid that week. His home was in Tulsa.
Mr. POPE was a brother-in-law of Earl GAMBLE of Fairfax and was well known here. Mrs. POPE is Mr. GAMBLE'S sister. They have one son who has recently returned from service in the navy. Funeral service was held Monday morning at the Tulsa funeral home with sermon by Rev. Paul McBride, pastor of the Wheeling Avenue Christian church in Tulsa. The body was brought here for interment in Fairfax cemetery with a brief graveside service by Rev. McBride, assisted by Rev. Carl Morgan of the Christian Church of Fairfax. A large group of Carter employees and friends came to Fairfax for the service.
Mr. POPE was a highly rated employee of the Carter company, with 26 1/2 years service. For a number of years he was located at Carter Nine north of Fairfax.

"Mrs. Chas. Miller Passes Away"
Mrs. Charles B. MILLER passed away Monday, November 29, at her home in Ralston. She was born in Concordia, KS on October 29, 1886, and united in marriage to Charles B. MILLER on January 14, 1904 at Newkirk, OK. She became a member of the Christian Church in 1907.
She leaves to mourn her death her husband, six daughters, Mrs. Juanita WOMACK, Mrs. Tillie FREEMAN, Mrs. Thelma CHRISTY, and Twila Mae MILLER, all of Ralston. Mrs. Vera LYNN of Elgin, KS & Mrs. Marie WHITE of Hewins, KS. Two sons, Cecil Lee MILLER of Camp Chaffee, AR & Bud MILLER of Ralston. Sixteen grandchildren, her mother, Mrs. Nettie COLTRAINE of Enid, one sister and one brother.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 pm, Wednesday at Belford school house by Rev. Carl C. Morgan.

"Stroke Brings Death To Earl Gamble"
Earl GAMBLE, age 62 years, a resident of this community for thirty years, passed away at 6"45 o'clock Sunday evening in the Fairfax Memorial hospital. At about three o'clock in the afternoon, Mr. GAMBLE had gone to his room at home to lie down for a nap. He was found there in an unconscious condition by Mrs. GAMBLE shortly afterward. Being removed to the hospital, he never regained consciousness.
Funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon at the First Osage Baptist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Floyd R. Merrill, assisted by Rev. Carl Morgan. Interment was in Fairfax Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ezra Wann, Elza Hutchison, L. A. Harrell, Oscar Brush, Elmer Hall, Alva Taylor, Ardell Crabtree, Jess Presbury.
Honorary pallbearers were Bob Clark, Bob Parker, Sr., Frank Bolton, Bill Thieme, P. H. Irons, Bill Wilson, Bill McFadden.
Herbert Earl GAMBLE was born August 22, 1891, at Magazine, Arkansas, one of four children of John and Mary GAMBLE. He was united in Marriage to Ola YARBROUGH on March 1, 1911, at Blue Mountain, Arkansas, and to this union were born four children, all living.
The family moved to Fairfax in 1923. Mr. GAMBLE engaged in farming and became very successful at truck farming in which he used irrigation. He owned and operated several general farms and had a large acreage of cotton every year. About ten years ago he bought a home in town and moved in from the farm.
He was a member of Grayhorse Lodge No. 124, A. F. &. A. M. of Fairfax.
It is respectfully said of Earl GAMBLE that he was a highly respected citizen, friendly to all, sympathetic in nature, and found great joy in helping others. His sudden death was a shock to everyone. One of the largest crowds to attend a funeral in recent years paid tribute to him Tuesday afternoon.
Immediate family survivors include his wife; their four children, Ruby Nell MAYSE, Mildred STONEMAN, Helen MASON, Harold GAMBLE; his mother, Mrs. Mary FRANKS of Tulsa; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie POPE of Tulsa, Mrs. Beulah DAVIS of Shawnee; several grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

"Mary Franks Service Held Here Saturday"
Mrs. Mary HOOPER FRANKS, age 81 years, passed away Thursday, July 8, at her home in Tulsa. She had been in declining health the past two years.
Funeral service, under direction of the Tulsa-Whisenhunt funeral home, was held Saturday afternoon at the First Christian church in Fairfax and conducted by the pastor, Rev. Leon W. Kidd, and Rev. Carl c. Morgan. Interment was in Fairfax cemetery.
Mary Orinda HOOPER FRANKS was born August 12, 1872, in Magazine, Arkansas. She moved to Oklahoma in 1910, and made her home in Fairfax for a number of years during the 1920's. She was the mother of seven children, of whom two survive, Mrs. Nellie POPE of Tulsa and Mrs. Beulah DAVIS of Shawnee.
Other survivors include one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Earl (Ola) GAMBLE of Fairfax; two sisters, Mrs. Patsie WOOD of Fairfax, Mrs. Sally McGRAW of Stewart, Oklahoma; two brothers D. W. HOOPER of Fletcher, Oklahoma, H. C. HOOPER of Milford, Mo., nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.  She was a member of the First Christian church of Tulsa.

Services held Tuesday for Mrs. S. A. Womack
Funeral Services were held Tuesday for Mrs. Juanita Blanche WOMACK, 51, wife of Andrew WOMACK of 505 S. 11th, Ponca City, who died about 11:30 am Saturday following a sudden heart attack.
Services were in charge of the Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City. Interment was in Pixley Cemetery in the Bend.
In poor health for the past several years, Mrs. WOMACK was born October 26, 1905 at Joplin, MO and moved with her family while still a small child to Neodesha, KS.
She attended school there and came with the family to Oklahoma in 1926. On October 15, 1927, she married S. A. WOMACK at Newkirk and they established their home on a farm near Ralston where they lived until moving to Ponca City, six years ago.
A member of the Christian Church, Mrs. WOMACK is survived by her husband of the home, a son, Sammy Ray, also of the home and two daughters: Sharon Kay of the home and Mrs. Anita GROGAN, Selfridge, Michigan; Two Brothers: Cecil L. MILLER, Ponca City, and Charles B. MILLER, Abilene, TX. Five Sisters: Mrs. Vera LYNN, Elgin, KS; Mrs. Luther FREEMAN, and Mrs. Homer CHRISTY, both of Ralston; Mrs. Frank WHITE, Hewins, KS; Mrs. Bill EVANS, Abilene, TX and two grandchildren.

"C. B. Miller, 75, Bend Pioneer Passes
Charles Benjamine MILLER, age 75 years, a long time resident of the Bend Community, passed away, Thursday, July 11th.
Funeral service was held Saturday, July 13th at the Belford School House conducted by Rev. Harold Morris, pastor of the Big Bend Baptist Church. Interment was in Pixley Cemetery. Charles Benjamine MILLER was born October 20, 1881, in Carthage, MO. He was married to Nora Ellen GLASBY on January 14, 1904, at Newkirk, OK. To this union were born ten children. His wife and three of the children preceded him in death.
Survivors include the seven children, Mrs. Luther FREEMAN of Ralston, Mrs. Jim LYNN of Elgin, Ks., Mrs. Homer CHRISTY of Ralston, Charles Eugene MILLER of Jacksonville, Tx., Mrs. Frank E. WHITE of Ponca City, OK., Cecil L. MILLER of Ponca City, OK. , Mrs. Bill EVANS of Jacksonville, Tx.; 23 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; Two brothers, M. S. Mishler & Clarence MISHLER of Wichita, KS. Two sisters, Winnie Hill of Kansas City & Mrs. Mavel NEWMAN of Goodman, Mo. Other relatives and a number of friends of Osage and Pawnee Counties where he resided for many years.

Clyde Wilson Rites To Be Held Here Friday
Funeral services for Clyde WILSON, 51-year old Fairfax man, will be Friday afternoon but arrangements were incomplete Wednesday night. Hunsaker's Funeral Home will have charge of arrangements and burial will be in the Fairfax cemetery.
Wilson died at 9:25 Wednesday in a Pawhuska hospital where he had been a patient eight days. Death was attributed to high blood pressure and complications.
He and his family had lived in Fairfax since 1938 except for a short time spent in Lubbock, Texas.
Clyde Raymond Wilson was born in February of 1909 at Carney, Oklahoma and died in Pawhuska September 13, 1960.

Funeral Services Held For Clyde R. Wilson
Funeral services for Clyde R. WILSON, 51-year old Fairfax man, were held last Friday afternoon in Hunsaker's Funeral Home with Rev. J. Paul Bollinger, pastor of the First Baptist Church, conducting the rites. Interment was in Fairfax cemetery directed by Hunsakers. Wilson died September 14, 1960, in a Pawhuska Hospital following a short illness.
Clyde Raymond Wilson was born February 16, 1909 at Chandler, Oklahoma, the son of Art and Ethel Wilson, and died at Pawhuska, September 14, 1960, at an age of 51 years, six months and 28 days of age.
On September 18, 1937, he was united in marriage to Anna Mae BROWN at Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, and to this union six children were born, two sons and four daughters. In 1952 he made his profession of faith and was baptized into the Big Bend Baptist Church.
He followed farm work and lived 21 years in and near Fairfax, spending two years in Arkansas and six years in Texas.
Survivors are the wife, Anna Mae, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Leo KIZZIAR, Arkansas; Mrs. Floretta PAGE, Ethel Vickie Wilson and Myrtle Mae Wilson of the home; two step-sons, John William STEARMAN and Rayon Garrision HALL, both of Texas; six brothers, Albert,Woodrow, Earl, Jimmie and Raymond, all of OK, and Cosper of Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Bob REDFORD, OK; Mrs. Louis QUAST of Texas; and Mrs. Clay SMITH, Kansas; 14 grandchildren and many other distant relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday afternoon in Hunsaker's Funeral chapel for Mrs. Anna Mae WILSON, 49, who died at her home Saturday after an extended illness.
Services were conducted by a Ralston minister and burial was in the Fairfax cemetery, directed by Hunsaker's.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Stroud September 6, 1912, and died December 23. She was the mother of several school-aged children and has several other relatives here.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, in the First Osage Baptist church for Ola Florence GAMBLE with Rev. Paul Bollinger, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Fairfax cemetery directed by Hunsaker Funeral home.
Mrs. GAMBLE was born October 8, 1893 at Ada, Ark., and passed away December 9, 1970, in Fairfax Memorial hospital. She was united in marriage to Herbert Earl GAMBLE, March 1, 1911 at Blue Mountain, Ark., and to this union four children were born. Mr. GAMBLE preceded her in death in 1953.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Mildred STONEMAN, Mrs. Ruby Nell MAYSE, both of Fairfax, Mrs. Helen SMITH of Del City, and one son, Harold GAMBLE of Fairfax, one sister, Mrs. Eva FREEMAN, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

"Services Today for S.A. Womack"
Funeral services for Samuel Andrew WOMACK, 73-year old Garber, Okla. resident, will be 2 p.m. today (Thursday) December 21, in the chapel of Hunsaker Funderal Home with Rev. George Weston, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating. Interment will be in Pixley cemetery.
He was born June 12, 1905 in Tennessee, the son of James I. WOMACK and Nora Belle McKNIGHT WOMACK, and moved to Oklahoma with his parents in 1907, and lived in Ponca City for approximately 20 years where he was employed by Butram Pipe Line company.
Survivors include one son, Sammy R. WOMACK; two daughters, Anita GROGAN and Sharon MANNISS; three sisters, Tima GOAD of Fairfax, Hattie VREDENBURG of Bartlesville, and Virginia PRICE of Hurst, Texas; four brothers, Elmer of Ardmore, Claude of Tyler, Texas, Clyde of Duncan, and Bennie of Wichita, Kan.; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several other more distant relatives and many friends.
His wife preceded him in death.

"Mrs. Gambles' Services Here"
Graveside services for Carolyn Elisabeth GAMBLE were 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, in Fairfax Memorial Cemetery, directed by Hunsaker Funeral Home. George Weston, pastor of First Christian Church, officiated at the service.
Mrs. GAMBLE was born in Hominy July 21, 1923, the daughter of Roland Abner THORNBURG and Iva Elisabeth PRESBURY THORNBURG, and passed away in St. Joseph Medical Center, Ponca City, June 22, 1980, at the age of 56, after several months of serious illness.
Survivors include her husband, Harold, of the home here; two daughters, Marilyn Sue WILLIAMS of Fairfax, and Sherrie Elisabeth BREWER of Tempe, Ariz.; one son, William Eugene GAMBLE of Okmulgee; her mother, Iva THORNBURG of Fairfax; one sister Camille ROSS of Loveland, Colo., four grandchildren, several other more distant relatives and many friends.

"Helen Mary Jane Smith"
Graveside services for Helen Mary Jane SMITH were held on Wednesday, March 2, 1983 in Fairfax. Mrs. SMITH passed away in Del City, Oklahoma on Monday, February 28, 1983.
Mrs. SMITH was born on November 15, 1919 in Blue Mountain, Arkansas. Her parents were Earl and Ola GAMBLE, long time residents of Fairfax.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 28 years, Jack SMITH of the home in Del City. The Smiths moved from Fairfax about 20 years ago.
Mrs. SMITH is also survived by two sons; Benji MASON, Moore, Oklahoma and Randy Gamble SMITH, Oklahoma City. She also leaves a brother, Harold GAMBLE, Fairfax; two sisters, Mildred STONEMAN and Ruby MAYSE, both from Fairfax, and four grandchildren.
The 11 a.m. Service was conducted by Rev. Jim Thorpe. Interment was in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of Hunsaker funeral Home.

"Service Set Friday for Fairfax Businessman Fred Stoneman"
Funeral services for Fred Herbert STONEMAN, a long-time Fairfax businessman, will be 10 a.m. Friday in the First Osage Baptist church here with Rev. Alvin Garrison, a former pastor, and Rev. Robert Glasgow, pastor, officiating.
Mr. STONEMAN, owner of M&F Furniture and Appliance more than 40 years, died Tuesday morning in Fairfax Memorial hospital of an apparent heart attack. He became ill at the store, and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance.
He was born Sept. 2, 1914 in Nowata, Okla., the son of William Herbert and Laura (BARNES) STONEMAN. He served with the air force during World War II and came to Fairfax shortly after his discharge.
He married Mildred Eloise GAMBLE Feb. 25, 1935 in Pittsburg, Kan., and they came here in January of 1946 and have been the furniture business here since.
He worked briefly for Hunsaker Furniture and Hardware before opening M&F Furniture, and he became known in most of northeastern Oklahoma as he expanded the store to its present stature.
A member of Grayhorse Masonic Lodge, he was also a member of the Baptist church and several civic organizations.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred, of the home; two sons, Bill Herbert STONEMAN (by a former marriage) of Hot Springs, Ark., and Fred Earl STONEMAN, Fairfax; two daughters, Ola Jean FULLER and Katy SHOPTAW, both of Fairfax; a sister, Jesse MATLOCK, Lenapah, Okla.; eight grand-children; two great-grandchildren and many other more distant relatives and friends.
Interment will be in Fairfax cemetery, directed by Hunsaker Funeral home.

Mrs. Freeman's Rites Monday
Funeral services for Florence M. "Tillie" FREEMAN, a native of Fairfax, were 2 pm, Tuesday in Poteet Funeral Chapel in Pawnee with Rev. Gene Overlease of Skiatook, former Fairfax minister, officiating.
Mrs. FREEMAN was born here December 19, 1907, the daughter of Charles and Nora Glasby MILLER. She married Luther FREEMAN in Pawhuska, March 26, 1948 and they were long-time residents of the Big Bend area in Osage County.  She died last Saturday in Tulsa.
She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Luther of the home here; three sons: Earl BROOKS, Indianapolis, IN; Clay FREEMAN, Eureka, CA; and Ray FREEMAN, Michigan; Five grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren; Four Sisters and two brothers and several other more distant relatives and friends.
Interment was in Highland Cemetery in Pawnee.
