Six year old son of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. SHEPHARD, died from strangulation from a burst tonsil.

Death - Mrs. Robert LAYTON
Tragically killed in a wagon and train accident....She was pregnant at the time... She leaves a husband and three children. The oldest being around 12 or 13 years old.

Death - of Francis G. JARRARD in Mexico.
He was a former resident of Muskogee and South McAlester. Whereabouts of his wife and little daughter are unknown. He was a Mason and Odd Fellow.

Obituary -
Mrs. Florence DAVIDSON, died at the home of N.A. GIBSON, Sunday night, aged about 61 years.
Mrs. DAVIDSON is the mother of Mrs. GIBSON, and has been making her home with them. She formerly lived in Memphi where she held membership in the Christian Church.

Buried at Greenhill.
While unloading cattle at Oktaha last Sunday, W.B. RODGERS Jr. was gored in the scrotum by a mad steer. He was brought to his home, Hotel RODGERS at this place. Dr. FITE attended him.

Birth - Mrs. Ira KIRKLAND returnes home from Kansas City and other points of Missouri where she had a baby boy.

Joe HARRIS, brother of Chief HARRIS, was injured when his team ran away, throwing him out, breaking the temporal bone running down under the eye.

First Elks Lodge of Indian Territory instituted in Muskogee

The family of F.D. WILSON, an employee of the Phoenix, arrived in the city from Ft. Smith, Ark. to make this their future home.

The home of William MOORE, commonly know as the Half Way Ranch, was totally destroyed by fire last week.

Died - Last evening, Miss Lottie BALLARD, 15 yr. old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. BALLARD, of the city, after a short attack of typhoid fever. They have only lived here for the past six months.

Married - Mr. LeRoy A. CORY and Miss Amber WILLIAMS, of this city, at the home of the bride's mother on Cherokee St., Wednesday evening... Mr. CORY works for the Turner Hardware Co.

Birth - Baby boy to Mr. and Mrs. W.E. HUMPHREY, last Monday.

Mr. J.G. COOPER, of Lebanon, Mo., has accepted a position with Columbia in the Shoe Dept.

Killed - Thomas WREN. a lad of 15, well known in Muskogee, was accidentally killed by his hours falling with him in Braggs and fracturing the skull.

Died - two month old baby of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. STRANKS. last Saturday.

Birth - Baby daughter to Mr. and Mrs. J. B. BROWN, merchant, last Friday.

Obituary - Col. William ROBINSON, prominent Creek, born in Alabama about the time of the removal of the Creeks; his father being a prominent member of the nation.. he learned the blacksmith trade, but later took a position in the store of G.F. McCLISH, on Little River and later married Adiline, daughter of Mr. McCLISH. who was the first judge of the Chickasaws. Col. ROBINSON leaves four children: Josephine George, Amos and Will. He served in the Confederacy.
Remarrying in 1891, after the death of his first wife, to widow of Washington BARNETT... he had a farm at Vann's Lake. Mr. ROBINSON was not a full blood; his mother being half.

Marrion A. BELL Dies in Oklahoma.  Brought back to old home for burial.
M.A. BELL was born in Pickaway County, Ohio January 9, 1845 to John J. BELL. While still a child, he moved with his parents to Iowa. His first wife was Frances Emma McLAIN. Marion and Frances had one son, John J. BELL. She preceeded him in death and he later married Addie DORST.
Prior to his death, he had lived in Jewell County, Kansas for approximately 20 years.
In the spring of 1909, he moved to Council Hill, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
He died June 12, 1910. His body was returned to Kansas and he was laid to rest in the Wallace Cemetery.

In Memory of Mary Alma CHESTER GLENN b. 14 Jan 1896, Paris,TX, d. 26 Dec 1952, Muskogee, OK, buried GreenHill Cemetery, Muskogee.
Her parents were John Alonzo CHESTER from Montgomery Co., TN & Pittsburg Co., OK, and Sarah Jane ROBERTS CHESTER of Stewart Co., TN and Pittsburg Co., OK. She was married to George Washington GLENN of Pittsburg Co., OK and TX.
She was survived by two children, Ocia Lorene GLENN GREEN SOUTHERN of Muskogee and Hallie Alfred GLENN of Tahlequah, OK. She was raised in Pittsburg Co., OK but lived most of her later years in Muskogee.

MORTON
Robert Thomas MORTON, 74, of Route One, a life-long Muskogee resident, died at this home Sunday after a long illness.
Funeral services will be announced by Agent Funeral Home.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lizzy MORTON of the home; a son Samuel of Artesia, New Mexico; four daughters, Mrs. Clara HAYES and Mrs. Betty NICHOLS, both of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Mary SIMMONS of Muskogee and Mrs. Amy BERRYMAN of Snyder, Texas; a brother, Jack MORTON of Muskogee; three sisters, Mrs. Jo HUTCHINS of Tahlequah, Mrs. Lillie DASLEY of McAlester and Mrs. Anne PELL of Arkansas; 42 grandchilddren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Stigler (Special) - Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Assembly of God Church at Porum for Marion J. MOORE, 72-year-old pioneer Oklahoman, who died Tuesday at his home in Checotah.
Burial will be in the Coleman Cemetery under direction of the Mallory Funeral Home.

WILLIAM 'BILL' MORTON

Reverend Carlos Knight, pastor, will officiate at funeral services Saturday at 2. p.m., in the First Baptist Church at Fort Gibson for WILLIAM 'BILL' MORTON, 63, of Fort Gibson, who died Wednesday at his home.   Burial in South Bethal Cemetery will be directed by Bradley Funeral Home.   Pallbearers will be Percy DRISCOLL, Slim EDWARDS, Pete HAMPTON, Cecil GARNER, Buster GARNER and Walter WALDREN.   A retired farmer and a resident of the Fort Gibson area the past 11 years, Morton was born October 20, 1900, in Gore, Indian Territory.   He is survived by his wife, Edith of the home; five sons, Rex, Billy Wayne, Charles and Gail, all of Fort Gibson, and Kenneth of Michigan; one daughter Mrs. Bernice HAYES of OK; his mother, Mrs. Alma MORTON of OK; two brothers, Troy MORTON and Lloyd MORTON of OK; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby STANFILL of OK and Mrs. Blanche BEACH of CA, and five grandchildren.

John Cleveland ORMAN, 82, of 1700 Cook Ave., died Wednesday in hospital from a lingering illness. He was born August 11, 1891 in Brentwood, Arkansas.
Survivors include wife, Edna and two daughters; four sons; One brother, Ollie Samual ORMAN;  four sisters, Mrs. Bessie BLACK, of N.C., Mrs. Lora BAILEY and Mrs. Maye COOK, both of Tahlequah, and Mrs. Stella PADGETT, of Stilwell; 29 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren

Porum -- Walter Reynolds, 72, died at his home here Tuesday.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Coleman Cemetery with Reverend Bud BECK [husband of Walter's niece Freda] officiating. Davidson Funeral Home of Webbers Falls will direct burial.
Born April 12, 1904 [sic; probably 1905], in Arkansas [sic; Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory]. REYNOLDS was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Ann [nee HUNT] of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Doris LYTLE and Mrs. Johnnie TRYON, both of Porum; a brother, John of Oregon City, Oregon; six granchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

MORTON
Mrs. Edith Irene MORTON, 64, of 111 South 11th. died Friday in Muskogee General Hospital.
Born November 25, 1913 at Braggs, Mrs. MORTON had attended school there. A member of Fort Gibson First Baptist Church, she had retired after serving as a nurse at Muskogee General Hospital for eight years. She has lived in the Webbers Falls-Muskogee area all of her adult life and had worked for several nursing homes. Her husband WILLIAM died in 1964.
Services will be held Tuesday at First Baptist Church at Fort Gibson with Bradley Funeral Service in charge.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bernice HAYES of OK, five sons, Rex of OK, Kenneth 'Bo' of AR, Billy Wayne, Charles and Gail of OK; a brother, Frances PARIS of CA., 16 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

BENGE
TAHLEQUAH - Theordore Blue BENGE, 75, of Fort Gibson died Thursday.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Rev. Laymon GARRISON officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery.   Born Aug. 27, 1911, in Cherokee County, BENGE grew up at Braggs Mountain near Fort Gibson. He was a farmer and worked at Yahola Sand and Gravel for several years. He was of the Penecostal faith and a member of the Fort Gibson Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Annie, of the home; three daughters, Mary WILLIAMS and Bessie BRAY, and Jean DAVIS all of OK; one brother; three sisters; and four grandchildren.

HUTCHING
Funeral services for Clyde Franklin HUTCHING, 80, of Muskogee, will be held today, Tuesday January 5, 1999 at the Bradley Belltower Chapel with Rev. Doyle DAVIS officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Dennis HOLLAND, Leon HOLLAND, Bill HOLLAND, John HINDS, Jim HOLLAND and Haskell SANDERS serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearer will be M.C. HOLDERBY.
Clyde was born the son of Fred and Josie (MORTON) HUTCHING in Cherokee County, Oklahoma on September 26, 1918. He died in Ft. Gibson on Saturday January 2, 1999.
It was in Muskogee on December 5, 1945 that he was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann GOWER his loving wife of 53 years. During his working years, Mr. HUTCHING was a carpenter by trade.
Mr. HUTCHING is survived by his wife; one son Howard of CA; two brothers, George of CA, and Earl of OK; five sisters, Nannie ROBERTS and Florence BENGE, Katherine BROWN, Ruby MONTGOMERY, and Wanda HINDS all of OK.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Chester HUTCHING; one sister, Alice HOLLAND; and his parents.
The family has entrusted Bradley Funeral Service with the arrangements.
