November 8, 1923

Death of Anna Maria MOSES CACKLER, born March 19, 1840 to James S. and Hannah MOSES. Miss MOSES married F.M. CACKLER March 12, 1864.

J.W. FIRQUAIN, died Monday morning following a lingering illness. Mr. FIRQUAIN and family are widely known having been among the pioneers of this part of Oklahoma.
The deceased leaves behind a wife, Mary A. WILLIAMS, whom he married March 18, 1862 in Burksville, KY and eight sons and daughters.
Interment was made at the Masonic Cemetery.

November 29, 1923

Avis W. JOHNSTON SMITH, born Feb. 14, 1882 in Booneville, Texas, died Nov.26, 1923.
Miss JOHNSTON married William H. SMITH on March 6, 1904. Burial at Masonic Cemetery.

February 21, 1924

Mrs. Nancy CLAY died very suddenly Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Archie SUTTON of Garber. Her death was due to a stroke of apoplexy. Funeral Services at El Reno at the home of another daughter, Mrs. Arthur KEORNER.
She leaves two daughters, and one on, Charles CLAY of Garber, two sisters, Mrs.W.E. BROWN of Hydro and Mrs. MATTHEWS of El Reno.

February 28, 1924

Mrs. Nancy ROBINSON CLAY, born March 21, 1851 at St Clairsville, Belmont Co. Missouri died February 17 at Garber. . When she was four years of age her family moved to Buchannon Co. Missouri where she grew to womanhood. Family later moved to Potowatomie Co. Kansas where she met and married J.H. CLAY. There were seven children born to this union of which three died in infancy. Arthur R. CLAY, the eldest, grew to manhood but died May 16, 1916.

March 6, 1924

Lela Fern SWARTZENDRUBER, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alva SWARTZENDRUBER, was born January 22, 1924 and died March 4, 1924 of spinal bifida for which an operation was preformed when she was 16 day old.

April 24, 1924

J.E. GOODPASTURE'S only sister, Mrs. Mat COUDREY, died at her home in San Antonie, Texas Wednesday morning. Her and her husband had live many years in Hydro.

Mrs. E.S. MESSER,(Rena MAUDE MESSER), daughter of Leshon and Laura (Spivey) MAUDE, died Thursday(April 17) at 22 years of age.
Mrs. MESSER was born October 22, 1901 near America, N.C.
She married Ervin S. MESSER on July 14, 1916 and two daughters were born to this union, Evalea, age 5 and Leeana, age 3.

"Grandpa" George W. LASLEY, of Colony died Wednesday(April 23, 1924)morning(8:30), he was past 90 years of age. Special given by the Masonic Lodge.
Mr. LASLEY was born January 31, 1834 in Johnson Co. Illinois to James and Rebecca LASLEY. He married Esther C. VEATCH at age 19 and move to Missouri>Kansas>I.T. He returned to Illinois the beginning of the Civil War and enlisted in Co. K, 120th Ill. Vol. Inf. and served three years.
His first wife died in 1868 at age 35 years. To this union six children were born. Some years later Mr. LASLEY married Elizabeth KENDALL of Alabama and to this union three children, one of whom, Charles B. LASLEY survived him. He came to Caddo Co. the autumn of 1908.
Mr. LASLEY leaves two daughters, Mrs. W.W. MAHAM of Nettleton, Arkansas and Mrs. L.L. CREWS of Harrisburg, Illinois.

May 15, 1924

J.D. MULLINS, father of Mrs. Ollie NORRIS, died this morning at the home of his son, L.E. MULLINS at Olive, OK. Burial was in Thomas.

W.A. FIRQUAIN announces for Commissioner of Caddo Co. He has lived here for 19 years and has served in every township office and served as a member of the school board. He has a reputation for being honest and square in all his dealings. The Democrat Pray will do itself honor should it nominate him.

June 26, 1924

Mrs. Ed M. WEST (Ida May DAIL WEST), born March 7, 1869 in Linn Co. Missouri. She married at Linnews Missouri to Ed WEST on March 3, 1886 and in 1891 they moved to Lincoln Co. and in 1902 moved to Hydro.
Survivors include three daughters, Maud Eva, now Mrs. G.E. OLIVER of Hugoton, KS, Bessie Roberta, now Mrs. F.R. KELLEY of Rocky Ford, Colo. and Edna Nancy, now Mrs. H.S. DAVIS of Weatherford, OK. and one son, Joseph Dail WEST, of Sudan, Texas.

Wayne Elton BARTGIS, born June 15, 1923, died June 15, 1924 of pneumonia. Parents are Mr. and Mrs. E.L. BARTGIS.

Mr. and Mrs. H.A. WILLIAMS celebrated Golden Anniversary Sept. 28.

Mrs. Sarah CLARK died Sunday morning in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed ROARK, of Ghost Mound.

John R. MELTON, born Nov. 8, 1848 in Green Co. Illinois, died Nov. 6, 1924 in Caddo Co.
Mr. MELTON moved to Missouri from Illinois as a young man. He married Mrs. Belle BURTON in Kansas City, Missouri November 30, 1887.

March 12, 1925

Daniel MURPHY, born Feb. 8, 1843 Kentucky, died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. George TAYLOR near Hydro March 8, being 82 years of age.
Mr. MURPHY served in Co. A, 2nd MO. Reg.. He married Eliza HICKMAN at Canesville, Missouri on Oct. 1, 1873.

April 28, 1925

Mr. J.P. WIND was born in Denmark in 1853 and Mrs. WIND was born two years later. They were married in Denmark in 1875 and came to the United States in 1892 and lived in Burlington, Iowa. In 1907 they moved to Oklahoma.
Mr. and Mrs WIND celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 3, 1925.

May 7, 1925

Sarah J. BADGER HOMESLEY MCADOW, born June 14, 1846 in Glochester, Virginia, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rose MCNARY .
At the age of 21 years Miss BADGER married Fred B. HOMESLEY, who died in 1892. In 1895 Sarah married D.H. MCADOW, who died in 1913.

June 4, 1925

Jarvis Hayden GREGG, born Oct. 17, 1887 in Polk Co. Kentucky, died May 29 in Wann, OK.
Mr. GREGG moved to Macon Co. Missouri at age eight years. In 1861 he married Susan Margaret RAY.

Mary Edna BLACKBURN, born April 27, 1879 in Morgan Co. Ohio, died June 1, 1925. Burial in Thomas, Oklahoma.

Mrs. J.S. DITMORE, mother of Mrs. H.O. JENNINGS, died in Pampa, Texas Friday of last week.

Mary Ann (Williams) FIRQUAIN
Mary Ann WILLIAMS was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky, November 25, 1854,and died at the home of her son,W.A. FIRQUAIN, near Hyro,Oklahoma, August 20, 1931, being 85 years, 8 months, and 26 days old.
On March 18, 1861 she was married to John W. FIRQUAIN who preceded her in death some eight years ago. To this union 13 children were born, three of whom died in infancy, and two other daughters grew to womanhood before passing to the better land. While in her youth an still living in Kentucky, she heard the Libing Message preached by the pioneer of the Reformation, and to this she gladly rendered obiedience and became simply a Christian. To this pledge she showed her devotion throughout the years she spent here below. This upright life in Christ she implanted in her children--the great heritage she has left humanity. A devoted wife and mother, a pleasing and loveable character to all who knew her-for her friends were numbered by her aquaintances.
The FIRQUAINS were among the first settlers in Caddo County and their usefullness to the citizenry and the community has ever been felt.
There is left to mourn her timely death , four sons and four daughters. Mrs. Mattie RUSSELL, Raton, New Mexico. Mrs. W.T. CLAWSON, Jet, Oklahoma. N.S. FIRQUAIN, Durant, Oklahoma. Mrs. E. M. DOWELL, Roxanna,Texas. Mrs.Walter PACKARD and W.A. FIRQUAIN of Hydro, Oklahoma. E.J. and C. S. FIRQUAIN of Kansas City, Kansas; 31 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 4 nephews,and 3 neices besides a host of friends and neighbors.
She quietly went to sleep with no physical ailment to hamper her- the body just simply worn out- no longer a habitable place for her spirit, who took its flight to God who gave it, and the body was laid to rest beside her husband in the Hydro Cemetery. Funeral services were concucted by A.J. BRADSHAW, of the church of christ of Weatherford, Oklahoma, at the home of W. A. FIRQUAIN, where a large concource of sorrowing relatives and friends were gathered.
She has sown richly of good works in this life. May she reap abundantly in the life to come,and may we all try to excel that we meet in the great beyond, is the wish of the writer.
