On Monday, May 21, John W. PRIVETT answered the last roll call, after
almost seventy years of earthly career.
He was born in Wayne County, Kentucky March 12, 1850. Was Married
there and later moved to Missouri where he lived eight years, then
to Kansas and 25 years ago came to Osage county where he has since
resided.
Mr. PRIVETT was injured by being thrown from a horse when a boy and
never entirely recovered. For four years he was helpless on account of the
injury and his death may have been sooner on account of it. He had been married
for almost fifty years and was the father of ten children, eight of whom,
with the mother, survive him.
Funeral services were held at the Nazarene church, of which he was a member,
at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, Rev. E.L. LOUMAN officiating.
Mr. PRIVETT was one of the early settlers in Osage county and a farmer
who knew the business thoroughly. He had a nice home in town but spent much
of his time on the farm. He was a good worker and a good citizen, a good
husband, father, and Christian gentleman.
His family and his neighbors sorrow at his going.
