Mrs. PRICKETT, a good Christian mother, aged 71 years, died at the home of her daughter, southeast 356-22, six miles southeast of this city, Wednesday night, of lagrippe, in connection with old age and dropsy. Her husband died three years ago in old Oklahoma.
She leaves six children, all grown, five girls and one boy. Three of the girls are married and live in Colorado, Washington and Montana respectively. She will be buried in the east Enid cemetery tomorrow.

Aged Barmer(sic) Found Dead
Body Of Ringwood Man Exposed Four Days
Expired While Chopping Wood and Was Discovered by Little Boy Days After
The Ringwood Leaders says:
John W. WEST, an aged farmer, living about five miles northwest of this place was found dead on his place Monday afternoon about three o'clock by his little grandson who happened to go to the place on an errand. It appears that he had been chopping wood, and from the position of his body when found, he had evidently expired and fallen over backward. The body had lain in the position in which it was found from some time the Thursday before, as it was a well know fact that he was always very prompt in taking his mail from the rural delivery mail box and the mail for that date had not been disturbed. The clothing of the dead man was wet and frozen showing that he had lain out during the recent rains. It is understood that no inquest was held.  It is supposed that death resulted from natural causes.
The dead man was an old soldier and a Grand Army man.

Champaign, Ill., January 10.__The doors of the Champaign Police Department opened today and a weary, foot-sore, half-famished and half-frozen negro entered. Walking up to the sergeant, the unknown said; "My name is John HAM. I am an escape convict from the Chester Penitentiary and I want to go back. My number is 9040.

Mrs. Wiley COWAN Sarah Amanda DAY was born at Tilford, Kentucky, on January 18, 1866, and departed this life at Alva,Okla., on February 24, 1924. She was married to Wiley COWAN at Harper, Kansas, December 22, 1882.
Leaving Kentucky with her parents, she emigrated to Kansas, where she grew up, ever a true westerner. She came as a bride to the Old Eagle Chief Ranch Headquarters, at Short Springs (10 miles east of Alva) and has seen roving cattle, the Indians and the howling coyote give place to churches, schools and tillers of the soil. Always zealous in the cause of Christ, she never tired in establishing His work. No one can say how far her influence has or will radiate. Numbers of young men and women place tribute at her feel for the principles of right living instilled in their hears by her precept and example. As no life can be pure in its purpose and strong in its strife and not all lives be made purer and stronger thereby, so her influence will live on and on. She was always patient and mindful of others during affliction and suffering and was ever a source of inspiration to those about her. Only those who knew her best can tell of the truly wonderful life she has lived.
She is survived by her husband, a son, John COWAN of Selman, Okla. two daughters, Mrs. Hazel WIEBENER and Mrs. Opal NIGHSWONGER, both of Alva, Okla., eight grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends all of whom mourn her loss. The high esteem in which she was held was given evidence by the many beautiful floral offerings and the great number of friends from various places who gathered to attend the funeral held at M.E. Church of which she was a member. Services were conducted by Rev. Simpson, after which the body was laid to rest in the A.O.U.W. cemetery. The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of many friends in their loss.

The infant son of Emory and Grace Agnes (CORNISH) DAVIS died at Waukomis, OK on Jan 3, 1929 after having a brief illness. (Influenza/Pneumonia)
Little Iris Emory Monroe DAVIS was born November 8, 1927 at Meeker, OK. He lived to be 1 year, 1 month and 25 days old. Mrs. DAVIS and the child were visiting at the home of Dick CORNISH (Mrs. Davis' father), when the child became ill and died there.
Mr. DAVIS previously worked at the Newman Mercantile in Enid. They now reside in Streeter, Ill where Emory works for the JC Penny Company. Emory is the son of Samuel & Mary DAVIS of Enid. Services were held at the CORNISH home with burial in the Enid Cemetery, Jan 4, 1929.

RITES FOR PIONEER WILL BE HELD TODAY
Funeral services for George H. WHITE a resident of Enid for the past 10 years, who died at his home, 832 East Randolph, Wednesday night will be held at the Henninger-Royer Funeral chapel this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in the Enid Cemetery. Rites will be in charge of Rev. E.L.WATSON of Okmulgee, formerly of Enid, and Rev Andrew POTTER, present pastor of the Baptist church here.
WHITE is survived by his wife, two sons, George M. and Watterson; a daughter, Marjorie of the home, and two brothers A.B. WHITE of Enid and W.Y. WHITE of Rutherford, Tenn. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. B.F.(Fannie)WATSON of Fort Gibson.
Until ill health forced him to retire, White was actively engaged in the real estate business here.

Mrs. Kate HALL, 79, an early resident of Enid, who made her home with her daughter, Miss Kate Hall, at 804 South Grand, died in an Enid hospital this morning at 6:30. She had been bedfast a week.
Surviving her are eight children, three sons and five daughters who are: Homer Hall, Pueblo, Colo.; Lee Hall, Hutchinson, Kan.; Harry Hall, Enid; Mrs. Winnetta Brown, Miss Kittie Hall, Mrs. Hazel Andrews and Mrs. Erma Grove, Enid and Mrs. Bessie McClure, Okmulgee. She also leaves 12 grandchildren.
Mrs. Hall was Miss Catherine Ann Troutman before her marriage. She was born near Harrisburg, PA. January 18, 1852. She was married to George W. Hall in May, 1869. He died December 21, 1907. She had been an Enid resident 26 years, coming here from Pawnee in 1903.

This was in Isabel [ Collins ] Hergert's things. I assume it is from the Enid Oklahoma Newspaper sometime in 1933, that's when she passed away. Martha C. Collins was born Martha Caroline Lancet 13 july 1873, parents and place unknown.

MRS. COLLINS DIES
AT NORTH 11TH HOME

Mrs. Martha C. Collins, 60 years old, died Thursday morning at 3 o'clock at her home, 314 North Eleventh. She had been a resident of Enid since 1920, coming from Oakwood. Seven sons and daughters survive her. They are M. E. Collins, of  Lahoma; R. D. Collins, of Arp Texas; Mrs. Florence Fielder of Oakwood; Mrs. F. V. Gum of Locust Grove; Mrs. Mary Turner and Mrs.Isabel Herbert [Hergert], both of Enid, and James Edgar Collins in the U. S. navy stationed at San Diego, Calif. The Funeral will be on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Davis Park Christian church with the pastor, Rev. C. C. Taylor, officiating. Burial will be in Enid cemetery.

TOMORROW FOR ENID RESIDENT
A.B.WHITE LONG PROMINENT IN CITY CHURCH CIRCLES
Funeral services for A.B.WHITE 79, pioneer Enid resident who died Saturday at Memphis, TN will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Baptist church. The pastor, Rev Thomas P HASKINS will be assisted by Dr. E.L.WATSON of Okmulgee and Dr. Elmer RIDGEWAY of Elvira, TX in conducting the rites. Burial will be in the family plot at Enid Cemetery at the side of his wife and children.
Mr WHITE was prominent in the First Baptist church of Enid from the time he and his family came here in 1908. He was a member of the board of deacons and also teacher of the senior Bible class for 25 years.
In 1917 and 1918 he paid the salary of the missionary in Oklahoma He united with the Baptist church in his youth in Tennessee and served as a Sunday School superintendent nine years. He was financial secretary and a member of the board of trustees of Hall-Moody Baptist college at Martin, Tenn.for a number of years. A number of the college's graduates now are leading Baptist ministers in Oklahoma.
Since the death of his wife in 1929, Mr. WHITE had made his home in Enid and in Tennessee. He had been ill in Tennessee six months but was better and had written that he would be home on October 15.
He was born September 5, 1885 He was married to Lula Jones on January 1, 1897. (Note: this was printed but the dates would indicate that he was 12 years old at his marriage) To whom were born eight children.
He is survived by a son, Hoyt F.WHITE of Tulsa, and three daughters, Mrs. O.H.TAYLOR OF Ridgley, Tennessee, Mrs. H.P.HALE of Enid and Mrs.R.B.BUTLER of Tulsa. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. FANNIE WATSON of Muskogee, 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The body will arrive in Enid tonight and will be taken to the Henninger Funeral home to be cared for until Tuesday morning when it will be taken at 9 0'clock to the home of Mrs.HALE, 1111 East Randolph, to lie in state until the services.
The pallbearers will be FRANK MILNER, FRANK HAWKINS, H.V.GRITZ, GUS GUNNERSON (?), C.V.PORTER, and EDMUND FRANTZ.

Ernest R. BUCKMINSTER
Ernest Buckminster was born June 23, 1860 in Blue Earth Co., Minnesota to Richard S. and Abbie (FELLOWS) Buckminster. He married Mary "Minnie" Elizabeth HORN on Nov. 16, 1892.
He was preceded in death by a son Lewis, in 1912 and a daughter, Zelman in 1909.
He is survived by his  wife; children, Fred, Norval, Isabelle WARD, Irene COPPOCK .
Burial at the Sunnyside Cemetery, east of Lahoma.

Sunday Rites For Mrs. Mary Blansit
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. BLANSIT, 81 204 North Monroe, who died at home Friday night, will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m., in the Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. W.D. King officiating. Burial will be in the Enid Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include John SWEENEY, Carl BUNDREN, Roy KELLEY, E.C. NORRIS, Arch BUXTON and Charlie HUMES.
Survivors are her husband, J.P. BLANSIT of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Ethel STEVENS of Colton, Calif., Mrs. C.W. COTTER of Billings, Mont., and five sons, C.W. of Crowder, Ben A., H. N. and J.P, Jr., all of Enid and J.W. of Kansas City.
She leaves one brother, Jim HARRINGTON of McAlester.

Services Today For Perry McClung
The funeral for Perry D. McCLUNG will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the Church of Christ at Independence and Wabash with burial to follow in the Collins cemetery near Okeene, The Brown funeral home is in charge of services.
Pallbearers will be Earl FOURIER, Ralph PARVIN, Art ROBBINS, O.G. GRAALMAN, Wilbur WILTERS, and Lyman WALKER.
Mr. McClung died Thursday. Two sons, two daughters and a brother are his immediate survivors.

Funeral Sunday For Mrs. ZOLLARS, 78, will be buried in the Billings cemetery Sunday afternoon following the funeral at 2:30 o'clock in the Methodist church at Billings. Rev C. A. Booth will officiate.
Henninger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The body will lie in state at the home of a daughter, Mrs. F.O. RUSH, Billings, until the hour for the service.

PFC. William E. BURCHFIELD left Thursday to return to duty in Newfoundland after a furlough spent with his wife, the former Miss Juanita BURCHAM, 1308 West Oak, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. BURCHFIELD, 711 East Elm. He is a graduate of Enid high school and has been stationed in Newfoundland for the past eight months.

Marine Second Lieut. Samuel Taylor ALTON, 28, has graduated from the marine corps aviation ground officers school at Quantico, VA. The son of Mrs. H.E. ALTON, 1214 West Broadway, is a graduate of Enid high school and the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to enlisting on October 29, 1943, he was a special agent for the FBI. He has been assigned to duty with a combat unit.

PVT. Fred B. SHAVEY, 38, is serving as a cook with the Headquarters company of the 45th Division now in Germany. The brother of Lee SHAVEY, 1014 West Maple and Mrs. Fred BURGER, 115, West Cherry, he has seen service in Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. He volunteered for service February 6, 1941, from Enid and served at Fort Sill, Camp Barkeley, Texas; Camp Devons, Mass, and Pine Camp, NY, before going overseas. He is now attached to an infantry regiment fighting in Germany.

Rites Today For James P. Blansit
James P. Blansit, 90, died Wednesday night at his home, 204 North Monroe, following a lingering illness.
He came to Oklahoma in 1892 and settled in Washita county and then moved to Enid in 1914 where he had lived since that time.
Survivors include five sons, C.W. of Eufaula, J.W. of Kansas City, MO., Ben, Henry, and J.P. jr., all of Enid; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Stevens of Colton, Calif., and Mrs. Dorothy Cotter of Las Vegas, Nevada; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Brown funeral home chapel with Rev. Roy S. Anding and Rev. Grady Lambert in charge. Interment will be made in the Enid cemetery.
Pallbearers will be J.E. Sweeney, C.E. Stoe, O.C. Ball, Roy V. Kelly, Andy Lang, and Walter Evers.

Sunday services for D.R. BREWER
Funeral services for D.R. BREWER, 95, long-time Hennessey resident who died suddenly Wednesday at his home in Hennessey, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the family home with Rev. Carl Cartwright officiating. Burial will be made in the Hennessey cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Melvin CARSON, Charles STETLER, Frank JUNGELS, Arthur CASHION, and Sam SNYDER.
A native of Maine, he moved to Kansas as a young man and five years later came to Oklahoma and settled at Kingfisher where he made his home until 50 years ago when he moved to Hennessey.
He was in business as a furniture dealer and owned a meat market from which he retired four years ago. Mr. Brewer was a member of the Methodist church and a member of the Odd Fellows lodge.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Mrs. Waunita CARE and George  BREWER of Sweet Home, Ore. and Mrs. Albertina DEE of Hennessey; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Estella BREWER of the home, and a nephew whom he reared, D.H. BREWER, of Oklahoma City.
His wife preceded him in death 20 years ago.

Long Illness Fatal For Mrs. E. Holroyd
Mrs. Edwin HOLROYD, 85, died Thursday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. John WIMER, 402 East Oklahoma, following a lingering illness.
She came to Enid from Billings in 1929 and had made her home here since that time.
A member of the Methodist church and Royal Neighbors, she is survived by a son, Earl HOLROYD of Enid; two daughters, Mrs. WIMER, of Enid and Mrs. Bessie POTTER of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. William YOUNG, and a brother, William YATES of Auburn, Neb.; nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Darnall funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Denver and burial will also be made at Denver.

George Bard Kidd Claimed by Death
Word of the death of George Bard KIDD, 64, at his home Thursday in Long Beach, Calif., was received by local relatives last night.
Kidd had been ill for several months. He homesteaded at Garber and went to California about 20 years ago.
Survivors include four brothers, C.G. KIDD, Macon City, MO., J.W. KIDD, Marland, G.E. KIDD, Enid, and C.W. KIDD of Enid; one sister, Mrs. Anna LAFFERTY of Sacramento, Calif.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

Sunday Funeral Set For Maynard
Reuben MAYNARD, 21, former Enid boy, died Wednesday afternoon in a Denver, Colo. hospital. He had served in the army for three years and had been in ill health since his discharge.
His father preceded him in death three years ago and the family moved to Denver a year after his death.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Parley Maynard, a brother and sister, Yewell and Jewell, all of the home in Denver; two sister, Mrs. Eula Hughes of Enid (sorry, the rest got cut off)

Morrow Funeral Set For Friday
Funeral services for William E. Morrow, 76, who died Wednesday evening in a local hospital will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Fossett funeral home chapel with Rev. Olin T. Craig officiating. Burial will follow in the Enid cemetery.
Born in Louisville, KY, he came to Enid in 1906 and had made his home here since that time.
Survivors include his wife, Atha, of the home; one son, Oren of Enid; one step-son, Luther Gridner, Enid, and a daughter, Mrs. Alma Stroike of Carrier.

Samuel Thomas DAVIS died December 3, 1948 at Enid, OK. He was 72 years, 4 months and 9 days of age.
Samuel was born to Monroe & Sarah (McHenry) DAVIS on July 24, 1876 in Missouri.
Sam was 1 of 8 children born and only one of 3 surviving as of 1900. The other surviving siblings were William Monroe and Thersia Ellen DAVIS. Sam was a native of Missouri, and his family lived in the Clinton County area. As a child the family relocated to Silver Creek Twp, Cowley County, KS where they lived in 1880. At that time his grandparents, David & Elizabeth MCHENRY also resided with the DAVIS family.
Samuel came to old Oklahoma about 1892 where he lived at Kingfisher. In May 1901 he married Mary Jayne (JENKINS), both resided at Lyons at that time. From this marriage came 3 children; Emory, Eugene and Mary Iva DAVIS. The family resided at Ames, Oklahoma and abt 1915 they relocated to Enid. There, Sam worked as a grain buyer in numerous small towns around Enid. He had since retired.
Samuel was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Iva DAVIS in October 1918; his grandson, I.E. Monroe DAVIS in 1929; and his wife, Mary Jayne (JENKINS) DAVIS in 1934.
Samuel was survived by two sons; I.E. (Emory) DAVIS of Holdenville and Eugene DAVIS of Chickasha, OK; a brother, William Monroe DAVIS of Burden, KS; and one sister, Thersia Ellen (DAVIS) GOODALE of Elkland, MO. Sam was also survived by his 2nd wife, Jesse DAVIS.
Services were held at the Henninger-Allen Chapel, with Rev Ray E. Snodgrass officiating. Burial was at the Enid Cemetery December 5, 1948.

Harry Monroe DAVIS died suddenly, November 20, 1960 at St. Mary's Hospital, Garfield County, Enid, OK. Harry was 63 years old.
Harry Monroe DAVIS was a native of Guthrie, OK. He was born Jan. 3, 1897 to William & Ida DAVIS and was the brother of Blanche (Davis) SMITH (Tucson, AZ). The DAVIS family lived at Guthrie, Fairview and Enid, OK. Harry M. DAVIS married Verna B. SALISBURY of Wichita, KS on June 18, 1917 at The Gospel in Wichita, KS. They lost an infant to death, and later had a son, Merle Armond DAVIS born March 6, 1920 in Enid, OK. (Merle Davis-Sears and family are now of Townsend, Montana).
Harry remarried to Hulda Ellen FILLEBAUM of KS, on Nov. 2, 1925 at Enid, OK. They divorced in 1936, at Enid.
Harry lived in Wichita for about 30 years before returning to Enid in 1952. Harry was a member of the Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Harry and his 3rd wife Peggy E. (Brewer, Howe, Davenport) DAVIS, lived in Enid, OK at the time of Harry's death.
Services held in the Henninger-Allen Chapel, officiated by, Lewis L. Corporon with burial at the Enid Cemetery Nov. 23, 1960.
Pallbearers: Kenneth Sprinkle, Kenneth Buchanon, A.E. States, Robert Pope and Frank Woods.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, in the Fossett Funeral Home Chapel for Eugene P. Travis, 63, 213 S. 3rd Street, who was found dead near his car Wednesday. (Heart attack) Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Fossett's.
The retired railroad worker was reporting for his third night on the job as a watchman for Gold Spot Dairy.
Survivors include his widow, Lucille of the home; three sons; five daughters and two sisters.

Don B. Howard 66, Died suddenly in his home near Hawley, Grant Co., early Thursday of an apparent heart attack. Funeral Services will be held Sunday in the Bethel Hawley Baptist Church with Rev. Paul M. Roe officiating. Burial will be in the New Home Cemetery at Nash under the direction of the Wilson Funeral Home of Pond Creek.
Howard was born in Tate, Neb. Nov. 16, 1904, and came to Grant County when he was a small child. He had lived in the Hawley community most of his life and was a member of the Christian Church of Nash.

Services for Della I Howard, 78, will be held Monday in the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will be in the New Home Cemetery at Nash. Mrs. Howard died Friday in an Enid Hospital after a brief period of ill health. She was born July 2 1905, in Nash and lived in the Nash Community until moving to Enid 11 years ago. She married Don B. Howard in 1925. He died on Aug. 26, 1971. Mrs. Howard was a member of the Hawley Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Vaneata Rae Schultz, Avonne Jo Jager, Myra B. Richardson, and Mryna D. Waddill, of OK; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Ewers and Mrs. Opel Purdey, both of OK.

Sarah (Lucille) TRAVIS

Died: November 27, 1984 in Enid, Oklahoma
Services for Lucille Travis, 79, who died early Tuesday in a local hospital, will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday in the
Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Irwin McCorkle of Indianapolis, Ind., officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Travis was born Jan. 30, 1905 in Ponder, Tx., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. BOYLE. She lived in the Carrier community, and was an Avon saleslady there until moving to Enid in 1957. She and Eugene Travis were married May 22, 1922, in Wapanucka, Okla. He preceded her in death as did three children, Doris, Charles and Ron.
Mrs. Travis is survived by five daughters and a son, one brother, 25 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

BUHLER, Kan. - - Ruby Laura Eck, 73, died Monday in Hutchinson, Kan., Hospital. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Marlin Kim officiating. Burial will be in North Inman Cemtery, Buhler under the direction of Buhler Mortuary.

Born Aug. 1, 1916, at Goltry to Fred and Nina Penner Buller, she married Joe P. Eck Sept. 13, 1936, at Goltry.

Survivors include her husband, Joe., two daughters, Loretta Frantz, Newton, Kan, and Joetta Penner, Inman; three sisters, Mamie Jantz and Lillie Smith, Enid, and Evalena Johnson, Goltry; four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation or her church's music department in care of Buhler Mortuary.

The funeral for Avonne Jo Howard Jager, 56, will be. Sunday at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth Wade of St. Paul's Luthern Church will officiate. Burial will follow in New Home Cemetery at Nash.
She was born June 22, 1933, in Jefferson to Don B. and Della I. Howard, and died  in Enid. She lived in the Enid area most of her life.
Surviving are two sons, Don of  CA and Jeff of OK ; one stepson, Jim Jager of OK; three sisters, Myra "B" Richardson and Myrna D. Waddill, and Vaneata Rae Schultz of OK; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.
