CLEMONS

Jacqueline (Jackie) Youlanda CLEMONS, age 56 of Talihina, OK, passed away December 22, 1996, at Tallinn, OK. She was born March 17, 1940, at Yanush, OK, to Edward Riley and Mattie Jane TURNER DENTON. She was a homemaker and nurse's aide and was of the Baptist faith.
Services were held at Cupco Freewill Baptist Church on December 24, 1996, with Rev. Alton LINKER and Rev. Jerry GRAMMER officiating. Interment was in Cupco Cemetery. Clayton Funeral Home was in charge of services.
She is survived by six children, five sisters, one brother, 18 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and friends.

PRICE
Ode PRICE, age 100 of Poteau, OK, passed away December 31, 1996, at the Latimer Nursing Home. He was born January 11, 1896, in Indian Territory, Oklahoma. He was a farmer/rancher. He married Stella LINN on January 1, 1917. They made their home in Bengal and Leflore all of their married life. They were married 67 1/2 years before she preceded him in death on July 1, 1892. He later married Elsie CONDRY on January 6, 1984. She preceded him in death on July 16, 1996.
Services were held January 3, 1997, at Leflore Baptist Church in Leflore, Oklahoma. Arrangements were handled through Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by one son, six daughters, 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and special friends. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Kathleen PRICE and Lois DANIELS.

BRUMFIELD
Ada Chestine BRUMFIELD, a resident of Henryetta, was born August 24, 1906, in Spiro, Ok, to Lessie (Brydges) SHOCKLEY and James SHOCKLEY. She passed away Sunday, December 29, 1996, at Henryetta, OK at the age of 90. She married Leroy BRUMFIELD at Clayton, OK, on Friday, December 24, 1926.
She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Edger and Issac SHOCKLEY and a sister, Eula TURNEY.
Services were held December 31, 1996, at Shurden Chapel of Henryetta, officiated by Rev. Wesley BERRY and assisted by Rev. Charles KEIMS. Burial was at Westlawn Cemetery of Henryetta.
She is survived by her husband, one son and one daughter, two sisters, one brother, six grand children, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted by Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.

CAMPBELL
George Monroe CAMPBELL II, age 76 of Antlers, OK, passed away January 3, 1997, at Antlers, OK. He was born February 13, 1920, at Hugo, OK, to George and Flora WILLIAMS CAMPBELL II. He married Ellen WRIGHT on July 1, 1939, at Tuskahoma, OK. He was a retired heavy equipment engineer and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, three sons, 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held January 7 at Antlers First Baptist Church with the Revs. Sam DYER and Ben HOTUBEE officiating. Interment was at Tuskahoma Old Town Cemetery. Services were conducted by Clayton Funeral Home.

SAGE
Opal Wave SAGE, age 87 of Talihina, OK, was born November 12, 1909, at Holdenville, Oklahoma to James and Claira (WELCH) WATSON. She passed away January 2, 1997, at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center, Poteau, Oklahoma.
She had been a resident of the Talihina area for most of her lifetime. She was retired from employment with the Eastern Oklahoma State Sanitarium. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Talihina.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cloyed SAGE, in 1968; a son, Darrell Ferman SAGE in 1993 and a daughter, Delphia Vernell FOUCH in 1994.
Survivors include three sons, four daughters, 30 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous friends and loved ones.
Services were held January 4 at the First Baptist Church in Talihina. Interment was in the Old Talihina City Cemetery.

BARBER
Lloyd James BARBER, age 85 of Talinina, OK, was born October 13, 1911 at Talihina, OK. He passed away January 4, 1997, at the Oaks Nursing Care Center at Poteau, Oklahoma. He had been a resident of the Talihina area all of his life. He served in the U. S. Navy during W.W.II and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Talihina and was married to Marcella McWHORTON in 1977 at Talihina.
Survivors include his wife, two step sons, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the First United Methodist Church on January 6 with Rev. Jack Tecumseh CURTIS officiating. Interment was in the Old Talihina City Cemetery. Arrangements were handled through Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

GREEN
Ethel MORGAN GREEN, age 84 of Lennox, OK, was born September 13, 1910 at Poker County, Arkansas, to Willey and Mary MORGAN, and passed away December 15, 1996 at Lennox, OK. She was a homemaker/housewife and a member of the Assembly of God. She is survived by a daughter, three sons, and one brother. Also, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at Muse Cemetery on December 18 with Rev. Oddis FARRIS officiating. Clayton Funeral Home was in charge of services.

ASHER
Gustav William ASHER, age 77 of Harrah, OK, passed away January 1, 1997 at Harrah, OK. He was born February 17, 1919, at Stonington, Connecticut, to Earl and Alreda LOUGHBOROUGH ASHER. He married Ruth VANBROCKLIN July 8, 1978, at Burlington, Colorado. He was a retired minister and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Services were conducted by Clayton Funeral Home on January 3 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Antlers with Elder Alfred SNELL officiating. Interment was in the Antlers City Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, two foster daughters, and cousins.

SCOTT
Bertha Lou SCOTT, 67 of Clayton, OK, passed away January 2, 1997, in Talihina, OK. She was born August 1, 1929, at Clayton, OK to George and Lula YANDELL BUTLER. She married James SCOTT March 12, 1965, at McAlester, Oklahoma.
She was a housewife/homemaker and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Services were conducted by Clayton Funeral Home on January 4, 1997, at Stanley Christ's Church with Johnny JOSLIN officiating. Interment was in A. L. Stephens Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, five daughters, one son, one sister, three brothers, 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

WHITE
Dona Belle WHITE, age 92, died Saturday, January 4, 1997, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. White was born September 5, 1904, in Red Oak, OK, to Christopher S. and Timmie Edeline (TOMLIN) HILBURN. She grew up and attended school in Latimer County, Oklahoma. Following her education, she taught for a short time before marrying Taylor E. WHITE on October 15, 1922, in Red Oak.
Mr. WHITE also taught for a short time before becoming a contract carpenter. He preceded his wife in death August 24, 1954.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church and Edgar Dale W.W.I Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post No. 20 of Coffeyville, Kansas.
She is survived by two daughters, two sisters, five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by one son, Lloyd Lee, her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services were held January 9 at Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville, Kansas.

GENTRY
Mary B. HUDSPETH GENTRY was born on February 15, 1924, in Wister, OK, to Roy and Lola CALVIN and passed away on January 4, 1997, at the age of 72.
She is survived by a son, two daughters, five grandsons, two granddaughters, 10 great-grandchildren, six brothers and one sister. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Even HUDSPETH and late husband Johnny (Pee Wee) GENTRY.
Graveside services were held January 6 at the Summerfield Cemetery. Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

TURNBOW
Lloyd TURNBOW, age 69 of Wilburton, passed away January 4, 1997. He was born December 24, 1927 in Wilburton, OK.
Services were held January 8 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Willard FRANCIS officiating. Interment was at Damon Cemetery.
Survivors include six sisters.
Jones Funeral Home was in charge of services.

O'DELL
Edith (Eva) SKIMBO O'DELL died November 30, 1996 in Carmichal, California. Funeral services were December 4, 1996 under the direction of East Lawn Mortuary. Burial was at East Lawn Sierra Hills Memorial Park in Sacramento, California.
Edith was born on February 14, 1912 in Haileyville, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Pete and Mary SKIMBO. She attended Haileyville Public Schools. She married Carl O'DELL and the couple made their home in California where she resided until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents, Peter and Mary SKIMBO; a sister, Sophie WHITE; and a brother, Johnnie SKIMBO.
Survivors include 3 sisters, six nephews and five nieces and their families.

COLLINS
Lola COLLINS, 88 of Red Oak, passed away January 16, 1997. She was born December 17, 1908 in Valley View, Texas. She was a retired clerk and nurse, having received her nurse training at the McAlester Masonic Nurses Training School.
Her life was centered around what she cared for most, the church and her family. She was a member of the Red Oak United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.
Services were held January 19 at the Red Oak United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul WILSON and Rev. Clinton Purtell officiating. Burial was at the Red Oak Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home, Wilburton.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles C. COLLINS, one son, one grandson, and two great granddaughters, two sisters, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Lola's kindness and generosity will long be remembered by those whose lives she touched. She found great pleasure in doing for others.

BLAGG
Garland BLAGG, 88 of Talihina died January 18, 1997 at Ft. Smith, Ark. He was born November 1, 1908 at Gravely, Ark. to Ben and Mary Ruth BLAGG. He married Lillian BRYAN at Tuskahoma in 1934. He was a rancher and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and a sister.
Services were held January 21 at Talihina First Baptist Church with Rev. Carrol FITZGERALD officiating. Burial was at Cupco Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

CLARK
Helen Pauline CLARK, 73, died January 18, 1997 at her home. She was born March 10, 1923 in Cowlington, Okla. to Jim and Lillie JOHNSON.
She is survived by her husband, two sons, a sister, six grandsons and 22 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Claud and Roy JOHNSON, and a grandson, David Harrison CLARK.
Services were held January 21 at Calvary Baptist Church with Willard FRANCIS officiating. Burial was at Damon Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

HERREN
Edna HERREN, 90, died January 18, 1997 at Latimer General Hospital. She was born May 19, 1906 to Charles and Nancy COLEMAN.
She is survived by two sons, a sister, a brother, 5 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Doyle HERREN.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at Lutie Cemetery.

BEAN
Elvin BEAN, 74, died January 17, 1997 at the Talihina Veterans Center. he was born May 2, 1923 at Lebanon, Okla. where he lived most of his life.
As a youth he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Ardmore from October 1939 to June 1941. he served with the U.S. Army during 1945 as a surgical technician, serving in England, France, Czechoslovakia, Luxembourg, Austria, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. During this time, he received the Good Conduct Medal, Silver Star, Purple Heart, EAME Service Ribbon, and the Silver Service Star.
He married Bouneva COLSON December 24, 1947 at Gainesville, Texas. She preceded him in death on February 20, 1980.
He married Arrietta TYNER at Mannsville on August 26, 1982 and they had lived at Wilburton for the past six years.
He was a member of the Mannsville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held January 20 at Watts Memorial Chapel with Burney COPE officiating. Burial was at the Mannsville Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill.

HARDAWAY
Claud Gene HARDAWAY, 63, died January 15, 1997 at the McAlester Regional Hospital. He was born July 16, 1933 in the Norris Community at Red Oak to A. G. and Ollie HARDAWAY.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, two brothers, a sister, four daughters, a son, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, A. G. HARDAWAY.
Services were held January 18 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at South Rock Creek Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

CARTER
Alva Edison "Boss" CARTER, 89 of Talihina, died January 16, 1997 at the Talihina Manor Nursing Home. He was born June 20, 1907 at Laura, Okla. to Clayton and Janie BROWN CARTER. he grew up in the Sardis area, moving to Las Vegas, Nevada during the mid 1940s. His employment had been as a federal government sheetmetal worker. He returned to the Talihina area in the 1980s. He was of the Assembly of God faith.
He is survived by two sons, a brother, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Services were held January 18 at Drake-Jones Chapel with Rev. Jerry GRAMMAR officiating. Burial was at Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

PHELPS
Edward Arley PHELPS, 78, passed away January 26, 1997 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau. He was born August 25, 1918, at Elmwood Place, Ohio to Andrew and Amanda (VAN HOOK) PHELPS.
He had lived in Kentucky and Arizona before entering military service. He was an honorably discharged World War II Army veteran. He married Alta WRIGHT near Snyder, Okla. in 1945. They lived in the Buffalo Valley for 42 years where he was a member of the Buffalo Valley Baptist Church.
He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2300, Talihina. His employment for 23 years was with the Eastern Oklahoma State TB Sanitarium and the Oklahoma Veterans Center. He retired in 1977.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, a son, a brother, five grandchildren, and numerous friends and loved ones.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 30, at Buffalo Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Ben HOTUBBEE officiating. Burial will be at the New Talinina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be members of VFW.

KIRKES
Robert Harold KIRKES, 74 of Hydro, died January 25, 1997 at Oklahoma City. He was born September 21, 1922 at Anderson Cree, Latimer County to Ed and Carrie SHRUM KIRKES. He married Lola POTTS December 15, 1942 at Wilburton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mark KIRKES, a daughter, Kathy BURKHART, two brothers, Arthur and John KIRKES, and three sisters, Georgia, Pearlie, and Reba. He is survived by his wife, four sons, four daughters, 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, a brother and a sister.
Services were held January 27 at Swan Lake Baptist Church with Rev. Dillon MARSH officiating. Burial was at Eakly Cemetery under the direction of Gragg Funeral Home of Binger.

PADGETT
Louise Lavern PADGETT, 61 of Tuskahoma, died January 21, 1997 at Tulsa. She was born August 25, 1935 at Yanush to Clifton and Jewel MANGRUM KING. She married Bill PADGETT July 7, 1951 at Van Buren, Ark. They owned and operated several businesses through the years, including the Community Nursing Home in Wilburton, retired in 1983; the B.L. Cafe in Clayton and a drive-in theater. She was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include her husband, a daughter, a son, a granddaughter, two sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Betty Ann KING.
Services were held January 24 at Yanush Assembly of God Church with Rev. Alton LINKER officiating. Burial was at Cupco Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

ALLEN
Gena ALLEN, 95 of Talihina, passed away March 11, 1995 at her home. She was born November 6, 1901 at Rocky, Arkansas to Samuel R. and Roxie BARBER RIND. She had been a lifelong resident of the Talihina area.
She married Lonnie ALLEN in April 1925. They had been married for 72 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Talihina.
Survivors include her husband, two daughters, a son, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 14 at the First Baptist Church in Talihina with Rev. Carrol REDWINE and Rev. Sam PACE officiating. Burial was at the New Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

WATTS
Margaret MOORE WATTS, 71, passed away March 7, 1997 at Latimer Hospital. She was born September 18, 1925 in Bonnersprings, Kansas to Tony and Maude MOORE.
She is survived by her husband, three daughters, two sons, two sisters, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister, and four grandsons.
Services were held March 10 at Jones Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ernest HARRISON officiating. Burial was at Memorial Gardens in Wilburton under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

MORGAN
George Thomas "Tom" MORGAN, 83 of Whitesboro, passed away March 21, 1997 at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Ft. Smith. He was born February 9, 1914 in Arkansas to Jimmy and Pattie MORGAN, and had been a lifelong resident of the Whitesboro area.
He married Arizonia JOHNSON June 5, 1937 at Talihina. He was a member of the Whitesboro Assembly of God Church, where he served as a deacon. He was very active in both church and community activities. Until retirement, he had been employed as a lineman with Kiamichi Electric Cooperative for 32 years.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, three sisters, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.Services were held March 25 at the Whitesboro Assembly of God Church with Rev. Ron BRANNON, Rev. Jerry GRAMMAR, and Rev. Darrow SANDERSON officiating. Burial was at Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

EVANS
Lula Bell "Lou" EVANS, 56 of Talihina, passed away March 22, 1997 at University Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born August 21, 1940 at Direct, Lamar County County, Texas to Tom and Clara ECHOLS JONES.
Lou was a hard working nurse who was loved by the patients and staff of Talihina Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Survivors include a son, three daughters, five sisters, a brother, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 25 at the First Baptist Church in Talihina with Rev. Phillip WADE officiating. Burial was at Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

WINTON
Susie Anna McBRIDE WINTON, 87 of Muse passed away March 23, 1997 at the Mena Manor Nursing home, Mena, Arkansas. She was born August 29, 1907 at Muse. She was a member of Muse Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Elbert WINTON, in 1995, and two daughters, Alma Faye WINTON in 1973 and Frances June JOHNSON in 1995. She is survived by a son, a daughter, two sisters, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 25 at the Muse Baptist Church with Rev. Carrol FITZGERALD officiating. Burial was at the Muse Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, DeQueen, Arkansas.

VANZILE
Robert Lee VANZILE, 85, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away March 19, 1997 at the Ottawa Retirement Center. He was born March 25, 1911 in Steuben County, Indiana to Orlonzo and Sina STRUBLE VANZILE.
He married Mary Agnes GORDON June 9, 1939 at North Vernon, Indiana. She preceded him in death on January 31, 1997.
He spent his childhood in and graduated from high school in Steuben County, Indiana. He then attended and graduated from Cincinnati Bible Seminar. he served as minister in churches in Dayton, Rushsylvania, and Waynesville, Ohio, and at Georgetown and Little York, Indiana before moving to southeast Oklahoma in 1957. For 38 years he and his wife served as missionaries with the Kiamichi Mountains Christian Mission of southeastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. During that time, he preached at Two-Mile Church of Christ at Muse, Christ's Church at Lenox, and the Rich Mountain Church at Mena, Arkansas. His wife and he moved to Burlington, Kansas just over a year ago to be near their son. Robert had been a resident of the Ottawa Retirement Center since December 31, 1996.
He is survived by a daughter, a son, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 22 at Two-Mile Church of Christ at Muse. Burial was at Muse Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Burlington, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Kiamichi Mountains Christian Mission at Honobia.

BLACKWOOD
James Marvin "Jim" BLACKWOOD, 65 of Wilburton, passed away March 21, 1997 in Oklahoma City. A lifelong resident of Wilburton, he served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Marie, and one sister and one brother. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ada BLACKWOOD, and brothers Charles and George.
Graveside services were held March 26 at Wilburton Memorial Gardens under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

BLUE
Charlie Edward BLUE, 87 of Talihina, passed away March 31, 1997 at the Carl Albert Indian Hospital in Ada. He was born February 25, 1910 at McCurtain, Oklahoma to Willie W. and Melvina HUDSON BLUE. He had lived most of his life where he was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He was retired from KCS Railroad after 23 years of employment.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruthie BLUE, in 1990.
Survivors include two sons, a sister, five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 3 at Talihina Assembly of God with Rev. Jerry GRAMMAR officiating. Burial was at the Old Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

GREGORY
Robert Lee GREGORY passed away at his home March 31, 1997. He was born August 21, 1918 at Poteau. He married Louise SUTMILLER October 19, 1952 at Waldron, Arkansas.
He served during W.W.II in the 90th Infantry. he was decorated with the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Arrowhead Star, Service Ribbons and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in McAlester.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, a son, five granddaughters, two step-grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, and seven sisters.
He is preceded in death by his parent, Robert and Sally Fern GREGORY, a sister, Billie RUSSELL, and a brother, Moman GREGORY.
Services were held April 2 at Waldrop's Funeral Chapel in Wilburton. Burial was at Centerpoint Cemetery, under the direction of Waldrop Funeral Home.

COOK
James Kenneth COOK, 71 of Lenox, passed away April 3, 1997. He was born March 9, 1926 at Feul, Okla. to Levi Kinsey and Annie Iola JENKINS COOK. He married Vinita LEA November 26, 1949 at Henretta, Texas.
A retired floor finisher, he was a member of Worldwide Church of God. He served in the U. S. Navy during W.W.II.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, a daughter, two sons, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, a sister, and his mother-in-law.
Graveside services were held April 7 at Muse Cemetery with Nelson HAAS officiating. Clayton Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Ola Edith (PYLAND) TAYLOR, 83 of Talihina, passed away April 12, 1997 at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Ft. Smith, Ark. She was born April 1, 1914 at Talihina, where she had lived all her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Talihina.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sumner TAYLOR, on April 24, 1996.
She is survived by a son and daughter, two sisters, two brothers, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 15 at the First Baptist Church in Talihina with Rev. Carrol REDWINE officiating. Burial was at the New Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

McCARN
Bobbie Jewel McCARN, 71 of Talihina, passed away April 13, 1997. She was born September 15, 1925 in Borger, Texas to Graydon Wallace and Martha PERRIMAN DYER. She was of the Protestant faith.

POOLE
Jackie Coleman POOLE, 59 of Antlers passed away April 6, 1997. he was born December 13, 1937 at Finley to Pete and Gladys MARTIN POOLE. He married Gloria WHEELER March 6, 1956 at Yuma, Arizona. They moved back to the community in December 1995. A retired farmer, he was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, his mother, two sons, a daughter, two sisters, a brother, and eight grandchildren.
Private funeral services were conducted. Burial was at Finley Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

LONG
Iona Raburn LONG, 91, a pioneer Jefferson County resident, died April 5, 1997 in a Meridian nursing home after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held April 7 in the First Baptist Church in Ryan with Roger SCHWENN and Dennis CADY officiating. Burial was at the Terral Cemetery under the direction of the Grantham-Worley Funeral Home in Ryan.
She was born August 15, 1905 in Hackett, Ark. She was the third of 11 children born to John and Ida RABURN. She grew up in Hackett and attended public schools there.
On Oct. 16, 1921, she married Olen LONG in Muse, where the couple made their home. In 1946, the family moved to Ryan. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Ryan Church of Christ.
Survivors include four daughters, four sons, three sisters, 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Olen, on August 5, 1955, and son Orville Troy on Oct. 4, 1929.

WHITE
Orville Alexander WHITE, 87, passed away March 24. Graveside services were held March 26 at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City.
He was born November 30, 1909 in Audubon, Texas to Jack and Fanny WHITE. He worked as a meat packer for Armour Meat Co. He was a long-time resident of Terrel, Texas. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife Lou, a daughter, two stepdaughters, a stepson, 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

THRIFT
Bessie L. THRIFT, 77, died April 3, 1997 at her home in Red Oak.
Funeral services were held April 5 at the Red Oak First Baptist Church with Rev. Dudley MULLINS and Rev. James MABRY officiating. Burial was at the Glendale Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home, Wilburton.
Born February 6, 1920 in Glendale, she was the daughter of Samuel C. and Amanda ELDER.
She married Aurie T. THRIFT on August 6, 1939 at Independence and had lived in Red Oak for the last 50 years. She was a homemaker and had attended the Red Oak Assembly of God and First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, a son, a daughter, two sisters, three brothers, two grandsons, three granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sisters, brothers Sidney ELDER and Bea ELDER, and a sister, Bertha STACY.

MATTOX
Dillard Austin MATTOX, 82 of Yanush, passed away April 11, 1997 at Okla. City. He was born July 27, 1914 at Big Cedar, Okla., to Henry and Tenie WORKMAN MATTOX. He was a farmer and former employee of Latimer County Warehouse #3. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his wife and two brothers, Earnest and Henry MATTOX. He is survived by four sons, a daughter, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two brothers, and a sister.
Services were held April 15 at Cupco Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Alton LINKER officiating. Burial was at Cupco Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

GARNER
The body of Rev. Lee GARNER died Tuesday, April 15, 1997, 5:28 a.m. Southern Oaks Manor, Oklahoma City, but his spirit and soul is with the Lord he loved and served for all eternity. He was born at Panola, Latimer County, Oklahoma February 26, 1910 to Robert Lee GARNER and Ruth WHITESIDES-GARNER.
He was very proud of being raised in the communities of Red Oak and Panola. He was appointed Postmaster at Red Oak by President Roosevelt in 1935. During this time, he served as pastor of numerous rural churches in Latimer County and conducted many revivals in community school houses.
In 1945 he resigned his postal commission to become pastor of his hometown church, First Baptist Church, Red Oak. He later served churches in Shawnee, Wister, Hartshorne and for over 20 years served as Director of Associational Missions, Craig-Mayes Baptist Association in Pryor.
After retiring in 1975, he again served as pastor for nearly three years at Red Oak. He was elected Mayor of Red Oak in his late 70s and served for several terms in that capacity. For 40 years he served on the staff of Falls Creek Baptist Assembly.
He was a kind and gentle man who loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Pa". He was known by countless friends as simply "Brother Lee".
He is survived by his daughter, three sons, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, and countless friends across the state and nation.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Dee, other brothers, C. C., Gillespie, Sr. and Delbert GARNER, and sister Avis WINDHAM.
Services will be held Friday, April 18, 2 p.m. at his beloved First Baptist Church, Red Oak. Rev. Dudley MULLINS, Rev. Wayne E. BROWN, Rev. Harry K. DODD, and Dr. Samuel Lee GARNER will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Yoakum Funeral Home, Purcell.

Georgia O. DAY COUSSENS, 82, passed away April 20, 1997. She was born July 16, 1914 in Haileyville, Okla. A resident of Talihina since 1965 when she married Herman Howell COUSSENS, she was a retired nurse and retired rancher.
She is survived by a daughter and son, two stepsons, four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
A member of the Talihina Methodist Church, Georgia COUSSENS organized a Rainbow Order for Girls and a Girl Scout Troup; received the Order of Eastern Star in 1976; was the Worthy Matron of Talihina Chapter #322 and Honored Queen Personal Page to the Worthy Grand Patron; was on the Shriners Crippled Children Commission, the National Cattlemen's Association, the National Cowbells of Oklahoma and was President of the Women's State Soil Conservation.
Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Association or to the Circle of Hope Hospice are requested instead of flowers.
Harding & Orr & McDaniel in El Paso was the funeral home in charge of services.
Gravesite services were held at Evergreen Cemetery, El Paso, Texas. Rev. Tom GARMON of Western Mills Methodist Church presided.

McCANTS
David Russell McCANTS, 87 of Nashoba, passed away April 17, 1997 at Pushmataha County Hospital, Antlers. He was born November 27, 1909 at Newport, Okla.
He was a resident of the Nashoba area for 45 years. He had been a rancher. While serving in the U. S. Army during World War II, he was awarded the EAME Theater Ribbon, Silver Star, American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon, and Good Conduct Ribbon. At the date of discharge, he had achieved the rank of Tec. Sergeant.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Estell MEEKS McCANTS, on November 16, 1988. He is survived by a daughter, and a brother and sister.
Services were held April 20 at Nolia Assembly of God Church with Rev. Gene ANOATUBBY officiating. burial was at Nolia Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

SPEAR
Herman Douglas SPEAR, 68 of Bethany, passed away April 18, 1997 at Oklahoma City. He was born November 16, 1928 at Eastman, Georgia to Mack and Edella DANIEL SPEAR. He married Ora CULLY May 11, 1968 at Tinker Air Force Base Chapel in Oklahoma City.
He was a retired Master Sgt. with the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of the Protestant faith, VFW, American Legion, and Elks Club.
He is survived by his wife, five daughters, two brothers; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held April 21 at Cupco Cemetery with Rev. Alton LINKER officiating. Clayton Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

LITTLE
George Allen LITTLE, 72 of Buffalo Valley, passed away April 18, 1997 at McAlester. He was born October 25, 1924 at Wilburton to George Washington and Sylvania KARR LITTLE. He married Geneva BRINKLEY November 2, 1950 at Ft. Smith Arkansas. He was retired from the U.S. Army Depot and was of the Assembly of God faith.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, four granddaughters and two great-granddaughters, a sister, and a brother.
Services were held April 20 at Buffalo Valley Assembly of God Church with Rev. Lloyd EARP and Rev. William BROWN officiating. Burial was at Laura McGee Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

BROWNE
Tommy BROWNE was born in Wilburton on September 13, 1938. He graduated from Wilburton High School and spent most of his life in his home town. He died on April 8, 1997 from complications related to lung cancer.
He is survived by his mother, a son, two daughters, three granddaughters, two brothers, and many good and loyal friends.
Tommy was a member of the 1955 Wilburton High football team that advanced to the championship semi-finals. He was a lover of animals and was truly gifted in his ability to work with horses. He rode and trained many good horses from ranch and rodeo mounts to the racetrack. His love for rodeoing and his ability to compete with the best in the steer wrestling event led him from Cheyenne, Wyoming to Houston, Texas and many other rodeos in between. Tommy was also an avid sports fan. Those who were close to Tommy know that he was a kind, loving man who was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who loved him, but his caring ways and beautiful smile will live on in our hearts.

BISHOP
Jerlene BISHOP, 66 of Irving, Texas, passed away April 19, 1997 in the Irving Medical Center. She was born June 11, 1930 in Pharr, Texas to E. W. HAMMER and Leona WILLIAMS-HAMMER. She attended Northlake College in Irving, Texas and worked for Southwestern Bell for 12 years and Merchants Freight Line for 22 years. She was of the Baptist faith. Favorite pasttimes included painting, writing poetry and short stories, and reading.
She is survived by a son, three grandsons, a granddaughter, two great-grandchildren, her mother, three brothers, and five sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard BISHOP, and her father, E. W. HAMMER.
Services were held Wednesday in the First Baptist Church in Honobia with Dr. Eugene MARLEY officiating and Leroy WILLIAMS assisting. Committal was at the Ludlow Cemetery with Mills & Coffey Funeral Home conducting services.

TOLBERT
Nettie Pearl TOLBERT, 87 of Paris, Texas, passed away April 20, 1997. She was born July 13, 1909 in Tuskahoma to W. M. and Frances GARDENER who preceded her in death.
She was the wife of the late Arthur T. TOLBERT. Mrs. TOLBERT was a homemaker and member of the First United Methodist Church in Antlers. She had been a resident of Antlers for the past 25 years, prior to moving to Paris in 1993.
She leaves behind a daughter, three brothers, a sister, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held April 23 at the Tuskahoma Old Town Cemetery with Dr. Ann HAGMAN officiating. Services were under the direction of Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Antlers.

Vera ELLIOTT, 92 of Talihina, passed away May 10, 1997 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau. She was born April 12, 1905 at Broken Bow to Bill and Melissa GARNER.
She had been a resident of Talihina for 72 years where she was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church. She and her husband, Ivan, owned and managed "Tom & John's", a shoe and dry goods store in Talihina for 56 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ivan, and her son, Jack ELLIOTT.
Survivors include two sons, a sister, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 22 at the First United Methodist Church in Talihina with Rev. Jack Tecumseh CURTIS officiating. Burial was at the Old Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

BURNS
Elizabeth Ann BURNS of Tuskahoma, formerly of Dallas, was born June 7, 1939. She passed away May 4, 1997. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. Sr. and Susan BURNS, and a son, Jeffery COLLIER.
She is survived by a grandson and great-grandson, and a brother and sister.
Services were held May 7 at Restland Memorial Park with Rev. George FOURNIER officiating. Entombment was at Restland Memorial Park.

GARNER
Johnnie Wilma GARNER, 90, passed away May 15, 1997 in Norman after an extended illness. She was born September 10, 1906 to Christopher and Timmie HILBURN. She married Delbert L. GARNER in 1932. She attended high school and college in Oklahoma and held a Masters Degree in Education. Mrs. GARNER taught for many years in Latimer County schools and retired as a second grade teacher in the Wilburton Public Schools, where she was a long-time resident.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and six brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a sister, a son, a daughter, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Wilburton under the direction of Waldrop Funeral Home.

SMITH
Johnie "Marvin" SMITH was born February 21, 1924 to Charlie and Martha SMITH. He passed away May 15, 1997 at the Community Care Center in Wilburton at the age of 73.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leslie W. SMITH and Lester L. SMITH, and a sister, Irene SMITH. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou, four step-daughters, a brother, two sisters, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 17 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Willard FRANCIS officiating. Burial was at Centerpoint Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

CULBREATH
Leon CULBREATH was born July 29, 1918 in Paris, Texas to Godfrey and Louise CULBREATH. he passed away May 13, 1997 at Community Care Center in Wilburton at the age of 78. He is survived by three brothers and a sister.

KIRKES
Mrs. Onie Francis CARLTON KIRKES passed away on July 6, 1997, at her home in Talihina, OK, encircled in the love of her children. She was born May 11, 1905, in Adair County, OK, to John and Elizabeth CARLTON. She was one of 14 children.
She married Williams Richard KIRKES of Yanush, OK, on April 17, 1921. Onie and W. R. established their home west of Yanush and were blessed with 12 children, 40 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Also survived by a brother and a sister, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, five sisters, her husband, two sons, Grady David KIRKES and Greely H. KIRKES, and one daughter, Francis Iwana KIRKES. Also preceding her are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 9, 1997 at Victory Baptist Church, Talihina, OK. In lieu of floral memorians, donations are requested to be made to the "W. R. and Onie KIRKES Memorial Scholarship Fund". This fund will provide an annual scholarship for a deserving Buffalo Valley senior. This school and community were very dear to her heart.

CROSS
Services for Evelyn Ann CROSS, 88 of Talihina, were held July 5 at Greenhill Baptist Church in Talihina. She passed away July 1 at the Calera Nursing Home at Calera, Oklahoma.
She was born to John and Mary TOMEY on July 12, 1908, at Mayetta, Kansas. She was a member of the Greenhill Baptist Church and had worked as a nurses' aide at Clinton Regional Hospital at Clinton, Oklahoma for 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, in 1980. The church was her life where she was very active as a Sunday School teacher at Clinton Indian Baptist Mission at Clinton, Oklahoma.
She is survived by six daughters, two sons, two sisters, 32 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and numerous friends and loved ones.
Services were conducted by Drake-Jones Funeral Home of Talihina.

PRINCE
Beulah PRINCE, 91 of Yanush passed away July 5, 1997. She was born November 22, 1905 in Anda, Okla. to Marley and Louollie ROBERTS PRINCE. A member of the Assembly of God faith, she had lived in the area most of her life.
She is survived by two sons, a daughter, 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and two sisters.
Services were held July 8 at New Hope Harvest Church in Clayton with Rev. Jim COLLIER officiating. Burial was at Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

LIBER
Billie Maree LIBER, 77, passed away July 1, 1997 at Claremore Columbia Regional Hospital. Services were held July 3 in Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel in Claremore. Burial was at Talihina City Cemetery.
The daughter of Edgar M. and Ethel GANN COOPER was born February 29, 1920 in Talihina where she grew up and attended school. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha.
Mrs. LIBER began her work career in August 1941 with the FBI and later took a position with the US Public Health Service at the Talihina Indian Hospital. In January 1956 she moved to Claremore to take a position at the Claremore Indian Hospital. She retired as an Administrative Officer December 26, 1978.
She was an active member of the First Christian Church, was a past matron of the Claremore Chapter #92 Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Kitty DuVALL, who died March 10, 1994, and her sister, Dorothy NICHOLSON, who died in September 1996. Survivors include her aunt, a niece, and granddaughter.

RAPP
Velma TEMPLE RAPP, 74 of Red Oak, passed away July 3, 1997 with services July 5 at United Free Will Baptist Church in Red Oak. Burial was at the Red Oak Cemetery with Rev. Johnny CONYERS and Rev. Odes FARRIS officiating.
She was born August 26, 1922 in Pink, Oklahoma. She was married to Walter RAPP on September 20, 1941 in Wilburton, Oklahoma.
She is survived by a son, daughter, two brothers, and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, who passed away on September 13, 1994, three brothers and four sisters.
Services were arranged by Waldrop Funeral Home of Wilburton.

FOSTER
Funeral services for Ollie D. FOSTER, who died Friday (July 4, 1997) at Latimer County Hospital, were held Monday at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Jack JAMES officiating. Burial was at Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Wilburton. She was 87.
Born September 14, 1909, she was the daughter of Turner and Mahala WILLIAMS. Survivors include a son, a brother, and a sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister and a brother.

WAGNER
Troy WAGNER, 81 of Wilburton, passed away Sunday (July 6, 1997) at McAlester Regional Health Center. He was born April 1, 1916, in Arkansas to Frank and Savannah WAGNER.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Lutie Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Wilburton. Rev. Don RUSSELL officiated.
Survivors include his wife Alta, one daughter, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

BOOTH
Hazel BOOTH was born October 1, 1904 to Henry and Bertha LAMAR and passed away July 1, 1997 at the Oaks Health Care Center in Poteau, Oklahoma, at the age of 93.
Survivors include two sons, four daughters, one brother, 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters.
Services were July 2 at the Freewill Baptist Church of Red Oak, Oklahoma with Rev. Oran BARTLETT officiating. Interment was in the Red Oak Cemetery.

COUSSENS
Carole Jeanne HANDLEY COUSSENS, 58 of Talihina, was born March 27, 1939, at Chappell, Nebraska to Leonard (Bill) and Lorene HANDLEY. She passed away July 1, 1997, at her residence in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She attended and graduated for Duell County High School, at Chappell, Nebraska in 1957. She entered nurses training at St. Lukes Hospital in Denver, Colorado and graduated from Oklahoma University at Norman, Oklahoma in 1960 with an R. N. degree.
She married Conrad Curtiss COUSSENS on September 27, 1959, at the First Methodist Church in Chappell, Nebraska. They had made their residence at Talihina, Oklahoma, until the last year when they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to be close to their children.
While in Talihina they had owned and operated the Talihina Gin Store for a number of years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Talihina, where she had been the church organist for 30 years. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Talihina; a member and past president of the ESA sorority of which she was a life member and a life time charter member. A member of Jobs Daughter (former Honor Queen); former Girl Scout and Brownie Leader and formerly worked for the public health service hospital at Talihina in the 1960's. She was a clinical instructor for the original Vo-Tech Nursing Class in Talihina.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Lorene HANDLEY.
Services were held July 13 at the First United Methodist Church in Talihina with Revs. Jeff VOTH, Gary MADLOCK and Gerald PRINGLE officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.. She was survived by one son, four daughters, father and stepmother, and ten grandchildren.

WILKINSON
Mildred Bell WILKINSON, 84 of Talihina, died July 11, 1997 at Talihina. She was born May 9, 1913 in Howard, Kansas to Daniel Elbert and Bertha Bell NICHOLS WAYMIRE.
She married Day Gilbert WILKINSON October 17, 1931, in Howard, Kansas. She came to the Talihina area from Moline, Kansas in 1991. She was a housewife and a member of the Methodist Church.
Services were held July 14 at Elk Falls Methodist Church with Lloyd ZIMMERMAN officiating. Interment was in Elk Falls Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.
Survivors include two daughters, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Leo and Arlie WAYMIRE and two sisters, Cleo FINK and Betty Lucille WAYMIRE.

WALDEN
Dee WALDEN, Jr., 71 of Wilburton, OK, passed away July 8 at Latimer County General Hospital. He was born January 3, 1926, in Leflore, Oklahoma to Dee, Sr. and Ocie McFARLAND WALDEN.
He attended school at Leflore and served in the U. S. Navy during W.W.II. He married Lois MICHAELIS on September 5, 1947, in Reno, Nevada, and worked in the oil fields in Kansas and Oklahoma.
He moved to Wilburton in 1969 from Great Bend, Kansas, and owned and operated the Wilburton Home Furnishings Store for 20 years until retirement.
He was a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Great Bend, Kansas, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dee WALDEN, Sr. and brother, Jimmy Dean WALDEN. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter, his mother, two sisters, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted July 13 at Centerpoint Baptist Church under the direction of Bishop Funeral Services. Revs. John HOWARD and Willard FRANCIS officiated.

MASTERS
Services for Timothy "Tim" Alan MASTERS, 37 of Magnolia, Texas, were held June 27, 1997 at Virginia Avenue Baptist Church of Anadarko. Rev. Monte MORAN, pastor, and Bro. Doyle BLOOMER officiated.
Mr. MASTERS was born April 8, 1960 in Wichita Falls, Texas and died Tuesday at Conroe, Texas from injuries received in a traffic accident.
He grew up in Clayton and Anadarko, graduating from Anadarko High School in 1978.
A race-winning jockey, MASTERS received his training at Apache Downs in the mid-1970s. He was the leading jockey at Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Arizona, and Denver Colorado. He also rode winners at tracks in Minnesota, Nebraska, Arkansas, and New Mexico. By 1983, he had already totaled 109 victories with a 100-win year and a .190 average. In 1989 he was riding in races at Remington Park in Oklahoma City for multi-thousand dollar winnings.
MASTERS had been working as a diver and underwater welder on off-shore oil rigs. He had a zest for life and never let a moment go by that he wasn't surrounded by friends and family. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, his father, two sisters, and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff, on November 12, 1977, and his paternal grandparents, the Rev. T. H. MASTERS and Mrs. Naomi MASTERS.
Burial was in the Anadarko Memory Lane Cemetery.

RAMSEY
George Omega RAMSEY, 88 of Whitesboro, passed away August 18, 1997 at his home. He was born September 1, 1908 at Muse. He served in the Navy during W.W.II. He was a member of the Christ Church at Lenox. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Rebecca Bell RAMSEY, and a son, Vernon RAMSEY. He married Maggie MELTON in October, 1987. He had been a resident of the area all of this life.
He is survived by his wife, a son, three brothers, three sisters, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held August 20 at Lenox Christ Church. Burial was at Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

CANNADY
Charles Lee CANNADY, 51, of Albion, passed away August 17, 1997 at Albion. He was born April 11, 1946 in Albion to Douglas and Ethel WOOLSEY CANNADY. He married Janice WYNN September 6, 1980 in Mena, Arkansas. He had lived in the area most of his life. He was a plumber, and a member of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, two stepsons, a stepdaughter, his mother and stepfather, two brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren.
Graveside services were held August 19 at Old Town Tuskahoma Cemetery with Rev. Larry BRAY officiating. Clayton Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

GILLASPIA
Lawrence Wayne GILLASPIA, 77 of Buffalo Valley, passed away August 17, 1997 at his home. He was born October 26, 1919 in Blue Grove, Texas to Elmer Lawrence and Elaine REAGAN GILLASPIA. He married Erna Vale MASHBURN November 12, 1948. he was an antique dealer, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Buffalo Valley. A W.W.II Army veteran, he had lived in Oklahoma most of his life.
He is survived by his wife, a brother, and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leo Richard GILLASPIA.
Services were held August 19 at the First Baptist Church in Buffalo Valley with Dr. Eugene MARLEY and Ben HOTUBBEE officiating. Burial was at the A. L. Stephens Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.
Men of the Buffalo Valley Baptist Church served as pall-bearers.

GARCIA
Martin B. GARCIA, Sr., 61 of Hartshorne, passed away August 12, 1997 at Wilburton. He was born August 16, 1935 at Okla. City. He married Clara SOUTHARD March 1, 1963 in Okla. City.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister. He is survived by his wife, five sons, two daughters, three brothers, three sisters, and 22 grandchildren.
Services were held August 15 under the direction of Waldrop Funeral Home.

MEASHINTUBBY
Joseph MEASHINTUBBY, 64 of Honobia, Oklahoma, was born November 6, 1932, at Honobia to Abro and Lindsey WALLACE MEASHINTUBBY. He passed away August 16, 1997, at Konowa, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena, in 1995 and a daughter, Joyce Ann MEASHINTUBBY. Survivors include three daughters, seven sons, nine step-children, 13 grandchildren and numerous friends and loved ones.
Wake services were held August 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the Drake Jones Funeral Chapel at Talihina, OK. Services were held August 20 at Rock Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Honobia, with Rev. Randy JACOBS officiating. Interment was in Rock Creek Cemetery in Honobia.

MARTIN
Millie MARTIN, 82 of Wilburton, passed away August 13, 1997. He was born April 5, 1915, in Hackett, Arkansas.
He was married to Bertha TURNER on June 4, 1987, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
Services were held August 16 at the First Assembly of God Church in Wilburton with burial at the Shady Point Cemetery in Shady Point, Oklahoma. Rev. Conley WRIGHT officiated. Services were conducted by Waldrop Funeral Home of Wilburton.
He is survived by his wife, five sons, four daughters, a brother, and three sisters. Also, 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lola Berniece MARTIN, one brother, two sisters, and two sons, Gary and Billy MARTIN.
