John COOK
John COOK was born November 27, 1848, and departed this life December 8,
1936, at the age of 88 years and 10 days. He came to Oklahoma in 1900 and
for the las 8 years he has made his home in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
He united with the Baptist Church in 1872, was ordained as deacon in 1902,
and has been a deacon for 35 years.
He was true to his conviction, faithful to his Lord and loved and respected
by all who knew him.
Even in his hours of suffering he was brave, patient and peaceful in the
love of his Savior. His life was a open testimony of the power of God to
save and keep the soul entrusted to Him.
The surviving children are: Mrs. Luther GALEY, Holdenville, OKla.; Mrs. J.
T. BERRY, Cleveland, Okla.; O. W. COOK, Strong City, Okla.; Mrs. J.M. HAWKINS,
Durham, Okla.; Mrs. V. A. WATSON, Edmond, Okla. John cook, father of Mrs.
E. E. CASADY, of near Stron City, with whom he had been residing, passed
away early Tuesday morning, after having suffered for a period of several
months from cancer.
Mr. Cook came to Roger Mills County in 1900 and lived in this county until
the early 1920's, when he moved to Cleveland, where he resided most of the
time until about a year ago.
Funeral Services were conducted in the Baptist Church of Strong City Wednesday
afternoon with Rev. J. W. Carlton of Cheyenne, preaching the funeral sermon,
after which the remains were laid to rest in the Cheyenne Cemetery by those
of his wife, who preceded him in dath seveal years ago. The Oddfellows Lodge
of Hammon had charge of the burial ceremony. Mr. Cook had been a member of
the Oddfellows organization for twenty-six years.
Mr. Cook was a quiet, unassuming person, against whom no person could say
aught. All who knew him loved and respected him, as was shown by the number
of friends who gathered together to pay las respects to his memory and the
large floral offering.

Robert M. (Bob) Conner
Robert M. (Bob) CONNER Jr. was born Novenber 3, 1926 in Leedey, OK
to Edna Mae and Pete CONNER and passed away June 8, 1994 at his home
in Cheyenne at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 5 days.
Robert lived in the Three Corners and Strong City communities and attended
Strong City High School. Before graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force
and served during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Strong
City to complete his education. He then re-enlisted in the Air Force where
he remained until 1955 when he moved to Far Rockaway, NY where he worked
for the U.S. Postal Service. In 1985 he moved to Cheyenne to make his home.
Robert was a member of the Elk City VFW Post.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Lyle.
He is survived by 2 daughters Linda and Frances; 2 sons Raymond L. and Charles
R.;a foster daughter Rose; 3 sisters; 4 brothers; several nieces and nephews
and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 10, 1994 at the Strong
City Cemetery officiated by Ray Smart. Arrangements were under the direction
of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
