Funeral Services of Mr. Fifield

The funeral services of Major Henry O. Fifield deceased Tuesday Jan. 12 were held in the Congregational church Thursday afternoon commencing at 1:30 oclock.

The first part of the service was in charge of Rev. Vernon Emery, pastor of the church who recited appropriate scripture and read a short biographical sketch of Mr. Fifield.

The latter part of the service was taken by the members of Elyria Commandery Knights Templar, and the dignified ritual read made a deep impression on those present and was entirely in harmony with the life and character of the deceased.

Sir knights L.V. Banning, C.M. Ross, H.C. Otterbacher, W.B. Vischer, Guy E. Wells and H.R. Daugherty acted as pall bearers.

Numerous floral tributes from organizations and friends here and else where were beautiful and appropriate.

Besides the Knights Templar, Wellington Lodge No. 127 F. & A. M., Hamlin Post G.A.R. and Temple Chapter O.E.S. attended in a body. There were many business men in attendance in addition to the organizations.

The interment took place in Greenwood cemetery with the commitment service read by the Commandery.

Thus passes from our community one who ever had the best interest of that community at heart and who was the friend of all those movements that tended to elevate and uplift the social order in this place. A man of warm affections, loyal friendships and true brotherhood has gone and we shall ever miss his genuine whole-souled participation in the village activities.
