OBITUARY
Escol A. Copeland born June 4, 1842 at Adams, Jefferson County, N.Y., died at his home in Wellington township after a brief illness, July 22, 1920, age 78 years, 1 month and 18 days. Escol Copeland, Detroit, enlisted in company I., eighth cavalry, November 22, 1862 at Detroit for three years age 21. Mustered February 4, 1863. Corporal, March 1, 1865. Transferred to company E July 20, 1865. Mustered out at Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 22, 1865.

He was the oldest son of Jased and Dimmis Copeland and is survived by a son, Thomas E. Copeland of Chicago, Ill., a daughter, Mrs. Sarah Ferbrach, Bonners Ferry, Idaho, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, two brothers at Milldale, Neb., two sisters at Tacoma, Washington, and his wife Sarah Copeland.
