St. John Family Renuion,
1907 I found this picture going through my 30 years of business records. The note on the back of the picture only says "1907 - St. John Reunion" Note the fence and building on the right side of the picture. I know that the St. John Family gathered at my great grandfather's farm (Jeniah Franklin St. John) during the earlier years and moved to Xenia, Ohio City Park during my early childhood years. This is not the city park. When I attended the reunions, the gathering was not as large (from a Childs point of view). |

Civil War Reunion ribbon and two medals. The Philadelphia medal was the 1899 reunion of all the Grand Army soldiers from across the country. The other two momentos were just the 74th Ohio Regiment veterans. The one that has the photo of all the veterans of the 74th Ohio Volunteers is very unique, I suspect. That was done for the 39th reunion, Vandalia, Ohio, August 27, 1908. The other annual re-union ribbon was the 23rd reunion of the 74th OVVI at Cadiz, Ohio, Sept. 16, 1892. |

Jeniah Franklin St. John The gold pocket watch and chain belonged to Jeniah Franklin St. John, and dates from around the Civil War period. It is an American Waltham PW, gold-filled, open face design with Roman numerals. The chain is probably gold-filled as well, as it has no carat markings. I will need to do more research on the serial number of the pocket watch to determine exactly what year it was made. |

Jeniah Franklin St. John Chassepot rifle The Chassepot, officially known as Fusil modèle 1866, was a bolt action military breechloading rifle, famous as the arm of the French forces in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 and 1871. A great improvement to existing military rifles in 1866, the Chassepot marked the commencement of the era of bolt action, breech-loading, military rifles. This example owned by Jeniah Franklin St. John was manufactured by MAS (an abbreviation of Manufacture d'Armes de St. Etienne). The approximate number of Chassepot rifles available to the French Army in 1870 was close to 1,200,000 units. Manufacturing of the Chassepot rifle ended in February 1875, four years after the end of the Franco Prussian War.
