Alexander
Stewart (1785-1857)

"I was on the website and saw the obit for Alexander Stewart.......he
is my 3rd g-grandfather and I have a picture
of him if you would like it....his wife was Rebecca Clark..I
have a picture of her as well plus their son Robert G. Stewart
and his wife Nancy Vandervort ..........Alexander
Stewart was the son of Robert Stewart and Ann Hornaday
and were in Warren co., Ohio about 1805 they died in Warren co. and I
believe are or were buried on the Smith farm. Have always wanted to know
what Smith farm Alexander's father Robert was buried
on. He died 21 Jul 1844 but his wife Ann Hornaday died
01 Aug 1839.
Alexander was born 15 Mar 1785 in Orange co., N.C. and he and Rebecca
Clark were Quakers. Alexander and Rebecca only had the one son that lived....Robert
Gravenor Stewart that married Nancy Vandervort......they owned land in
the Va. Military Tract....one dau Elizabeth Rebecca Stewart
married Timothy D. Neal and his property surrounds the
R.G. Stewart land in 528." |

"Rebecca Clark Stewart :
On 1 Oct 1807 when Alexander was 22, he married Rebecca
CLARK, daughter of John CLARK and Mary Campbell Clark,
in Wayne Twp., Warren co., Ohio. Born on 27 Mar 1788 in Padgett Creek,
Union, South Carolina. Rebecca died in Dayton, Ohio on
5 Sep 1884, she was 96. Buried on 8 Sep 1884 in Woodland cem., Xenia,
Ohio." |

"Flavius Alexander Stewart b. in Oregonia, Warren co., Ohio 17 Mar
1844.......fought in Civil
War.
Flavius is first son of Robert
G. and Nancy Vandervort and is the grandson of Alexander
and Rebecca Stewart
Flavius Alexander STEWART, . Born on 17 Mar 1844 in Oregonia,
Warren Co., Ohio. Son of Robert G. STEWART and Nancy V. SEWART. Flavius
Alexander died in Paola, Miami Co., Ks. on 14 Feb 1925, he was 80. Buried
on 16 Feb 1925 in Oak Grove cem., Paola, Miami Co., Ks.
Obit-Will: Obit - died at his home south of Paola
Sat. 2/1/1925, at 1 p.m. Member of the I.O.O.F. lodge. He was highly regarded.
He was distinctly a "home" man. He loved his farm and his family.
He did the part of a good citizen-served his country in time of need and
afterwards did his full share in private life. - Left Columbus university
to enlist for service in the Civil war.
He earned and had the honor medal as a member of I.O.O.F. lodge, Paola,
and the bronze button of the G.A.R. was the indestructible badge of his
patrotism." |

Stewart (1850-1924)
on 14 July 2007 Patty Shaw writes,
"Eugenia Arabelle Wheeler STEWART
Obit-Will: obit - Mrs. Eugenia A. Wheeler Stewart,
wife of Flavius A. STEWART died at her home south of Paola, Thursday,
Sept. 4, 1924, in her 74th year. Born in (Rockford) Genoa, Ill., on Oct.
23, 1850, she came to Kansas with her parents Dr. Charles WHEELER and
Ellen Pratt WHEELER in 1859, and in 1871, was married to Flavius, who
survives."

"Robert Gravenor STEWART, Born on 19 Feb 1814 in
Waynesville, Warren Co., son of Alexander STEWART and
Rebecca Clark STEWART. Robert Gravenor
died in Paola, Miami co., Ks. on 18 Jan 1895, he was 80. Buried on 21
Jan 1895 in Oak Grove Cem., Paola, Ks.
On 18 Jan 1843 when Robert Gravenor
was 28, he married Nancy VANDERVORT, daughter of Jonah
VANDERVORT (21 Jul 1789-14 Oct 1858) & Elizabeth
(Besty) REED (5 Jan 1796-8 May 1861), in Warren Co., Ohio. Born
on 20 Mar 1820 in Clarksville, Clinton Co., Ohio. Nancy
died in Paola, Miami Co., Ks. on 12 Jan 1910, she was 89. Buried on 14
Jan 1910 in Oak Grove Cem." |

Nancy Vandervort Stewart
(1820-1910)

"Nancy Vandervort STEWART, B. 20 Mar 1820 Clarksville,
Ohio
Obit-Will: Obit - The Miami Republican, Jan. 14,
1910 front page - Mrs. Nancy V. Stewart died Wed. Jan.
12, 1910, at the family homestead on her farm, one mile so. of Paola.
She was 89 yrs. and 10 mos. old and had been quite feeble for several
years. Four mos. ago she fell and severely injured her hip, and was never
afterwards able to leave her bed.
She was born at Clarksville, Ohio. her
maiden name was Nancy Vandervort. She grew to womanhood
in that State and was married there to her husband, the late Robert
G. Stewart, in 1843." |
