Willie Allen

He served in company E, the 2nd Infantry as a Machine Gunner. While
in the war Willie suffered two wounds, one in the shoulder and another
when a bullet grazed his skull. Willie served in five major battles
of WWII, among them the Battle of Normandy Beach, the Battle of
the Bulge, the Rineland River battle and two others. Willie was
awarded many medals for his service to his country, including the
Combat Infantry Medal, the Sharpshooter Medal, the Machine Gunner
Medal, the European-African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, the Good
Conduct Medal, a Presidential Citation, two Overseas Bars, the WWII
Victory Medal, the Bronze Star with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Honorable
Service lapel pin for WWII and the Purple Heart which was presented
at the Invasion of Normandy on September 20, 1944.
He was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army on October
28, 1945"
